Tasteless In The Extreme

Unfortunately, we've lost the DOOL satellite, perhaps permanently. While everyone who uses the feed is continuing to assess the situation, I am, in conjunction with Barb at the Salem Spectator, asking for a Canadian reader, or someone in the US who can receive the Canadian broadcast, to help by recording and uploading the show. That way, our blogs will remain at least a bit ahead in the US. If you think you can help Prevuze and other blogs, please contact me at prevuze@gmail.com. Thanks.

Vivian lies in her sarcophagus and sings "Ninety-Nine Bottles Of Beer On The Wall" but stops short when the song reminds her of how badly she has to go to the bathroom. She turns on the TV to find Nicole and tells her she is about to offer her the opportunity of a lifetime.

Kate walks in as Brady opens his big mouth and tells Arianna he's torturing Vivian, "For weeks I've centered my life around Vivian Alamain." He apologizes for anything bad he's said to Arianna. She opens her eyes and tells him she was the one who was wrong.

Gabi screams at Will and accuses him of causing Arianna's accident. She runs off as Sami comes up. Sami tells Will they will make this right. Will gives her the bad news that Arianna is about to head for the Big Soap Opera In The Sky.

Rafe runs into EJ. EJ says Arianna was desperate to tell him something and Rafe flashes back to Arianna saying she knew Sami shot EJ. "You're denying your sister her dying wish," says EJ.

Sami-sterics kick in. She insists Arianna won't die even though there are complications. "Denial is not just a river in Brazil," says Will. Too bad he didn't have Rafe to tutor him in advanced geography. She hugs him and tells him it's not his fault. They have a big argument over which one of them is more to blame for this as they head for the hospital.

Speaking of big arguments, EJ and Rafe are back at it. "If Samantha did this," says EJ, "she's not the kind of woman I want sending my kids to a babysitter."

Vivian tells Nicole they have things in common, "I was watching when Brady got the news about Anabella."

"Arianna."

"Whatever," snorts Vivian, "I'm not sure he will get over it. I think you will end up alone and broke, but I can fix it."

"You can't fix squat."

Vivian asks, "Did you know I had a title? Pasha of Tanquir deeded me a duchy. Just a sweet little ending to our liaison." Translation: He paid her to take a hike. "I don't care much for titles, but the oil fields connected to the deed did warm the cockles of my heart. I have no heir, so I can name anyone to get the oil fields. You married Lucas for five million, but that's one week's profit for my wells."

Kate finds Melanie at the hospital and asks about them moving back to the Kiriakis mansion, "I know mothers-in-law aren't supposed to interfere, but..."

"This coming from the mom who poisoned her son's wife?"

Kate ignores the crack and says she's just surprised Phillip would want her to live under the same roof as Vivian. Melanie tells her Vivian is gone and it looks like it's permanent. Then Kate tells her she has bad news about Arianna.

Brady continues to pour his heart out. He gives her Isabella's rosary, "She'll look out for you and Pookie."

Rafe tells EJ to go so he can spend time with Arianna. "We both know who's fault that is," says EJ.

Nicole is skeptical that Vivian would follow through with giving her the duchy. "Of course I would," says Vivian, "I think the title would fit you quite well... The Duchy-Bag of Tanquir." Vivian tells Nicole she'll wind up broke and alone. Nicole hangs up and remembers what Vivian said about Brady's guilt over Arianna, "She's totally wrong." Nicole goes downstairs.

Gabi joins Brady in Arianna's room. She cries, "I said so many mean things to her."

"She was pretty good at spewing those mean things right backacha," says Brady, "Spitting vindictive, hateful verbiage at each other is the best way to show love. She knows you love her, but why don't you tell her now... be especially hateful."

Lexie finds Will brooding. "Rafe has done everything for my family and I killed his sister," whines Will.

Melanie asks Brady if he's doing OK, "You loved her."

"I did," says Brady, "I really did."

Sami busts in on Rafe and EJ. She tells EJ he's being cruel by badgering Rafe while is sister is dying. EJ walks away. "We all know who's fault this is," says Rafe. EJ watches as they hug.

Vivian decides she's toast, "You offered Nicole a fortune and she didn't take it. When you can't count on that woman's greed you can't count on anything. My only hope is if someone new shows up. Someone with a caring, compassionate heart... so that person will have to be from somewhere besides Salem."

Kate shows up at the Kiriakis mansion. Henderson blocks her as she says she wants to renovate Melanie's room. Nicole comes up. Kate wonders why she's there. "I live here, toots," announces Nicole.

Will wonders if Lexie can get EJ to go home. Lexie goes over to him and asks if he needs to be there. He says Arianna is the last chance he has to get his kids and he has to be there if she wakes up. That being the case, Lexie asks him to declare a truce.

Sami hugs, "Rafe, I am so sorry I wasn't (say it with her) there for you. I feel terrible." Rafe tells her it's OK. Suddenly, the PA system blares...

CODE BLUE IN THE ONLY PATIENT ROOM IN THE HOSPITAL... CODE BLUE IN THE ONLY PATIENT ROOM IN THE HOSPITAL...

The crowd waits outside as Lexie and the nurses work on Arianna. Inside, Melanie shows everyone what a professional nurse she is by completely falling apart and begging Arianna to hang on.

Lexie looms over Arianna with the defibrillator...

"CLEAR!" ZAP! "CLEAR!" ZAP! "CLEAR!" ZAP!

Sami tells Will this isn't his fault, but Will doesn't listen. Lexie comes out and tells them Arianna survived in spite of the fact that Lexie's her doctor.

Kate is surprised Nicole is living at the Kiriakis mansion, "You and Vivian... with Carly around, should I pack a bag and move in next?"

Nicole tells her she's there with Brady, "We're together again."

"Vice is nice, but incest is best, Granny." Nicole tells her Victor knows she's there and thinks she's good for Brady. Kate is indignant, "What... are you slipping him some of those pills Hope was popping."

"I find that remark tasteless in the extreme," says Nicole."

"Honey," snarks Kate, "With the outfit you're wearing I would avoid the word 'tasteless.'"

Nicole suggests Kate leave. Kate says she's there to meet Phillip, "Actually with you, Brady, Phillip and Melanie here this is turning into Papa Kiriakis' boarding house."

"And if you move in like you suggested," says Nicole, "It'll be Papa Kiriakis' Cathouse."

Kate says she knows Brady is devastated about losing the love of his life — Arianna, not Nicole. She tells Nicole about Brady saying goodbye to Arianna at the hospital. Nicole suggests Kate not be there when Victor returns. Kate leaves.

Vivian begs no one in particular for help.

Lexie says Arianna's chances aren't very good, "They would be a lot better if I had set that defibrillator on 'stun' instead of 'fry.'" Rafe and Gabi go in to see Arianna. Sami asks Brady how he's holding up. Brady casts a glance at EJ and Sami suggests getting him out of there. Brady tells her EJ is the one who called and told him about Arianna. She asks if Arianna said anything to Brady, but Brady just walks away. Sami decides to get rid of EJ herself, but when she turns to find him, he's already gone. It's not unusual for men to walk off on Sami Brady.

EJ walks into the waiting area where Will continues to brood. Will tells him to scram. EJ ignores him. "I know you didn't shoot me."

"I wish I had," says Will, "Let's face it... my father has shot you, my mother has shot you, I'm bound to do it someday because it's in my genes." He tells EJ to shut up, but EJ says he knows Sami won't let Will pay for a crime she committed.

Kate putters around Vivian's room and remembers what Brady said at the hospital, "She's not here... where the hell are you Vivian?"

Vivian finally sinks to her lowest level yet. She resorts to prayer, "Please... I'll go to church... I'll go to synagogues... I'll go to Mel Gibson's church. Please just send someone to help me... Amen." She flips on her TV and sees someone in her room, "Thank you, God! Thank you!" Kate turns around so Vivian can see who it is and Vivian has a few choice words for God, "HER! YOU HAVE A REALLY SICK SENSE OF HUMOR!"

Nicole strolls at the pier and remembers what Vivian said about Brady pining over Arianna after she's gone, and also what Kate said, "They're both wrong."

Sami sits with Brady. She says he means a lot to her. Brady says she mans a lot to him, too. The touching scenes just keep rolling in.

"My doctor ordered me to give up drinking. It's been 3 days now and I feel really dehydrated." -Brady Black

Gabi says, "Rafe, you know how this happened, don't you."

Lexie finds EJ grilling Will and tells him to leave.

Vivian begs Kate to turn on the monitor. Instead, Kate starts to leave. She stops at the door, "I'm missing something." She wonders why the monitor is there, turns it on and gasps, "OMG! It's you!"

Brady is outside with Nicole. He tells her he thinks Arianna won't make it. Nicole says she would never wish for anything like this to happen and hugs him as she wishes for the Grim Reaper to make a quick visit to Arianna.

EJ says he's not going to stop until he gets his children back, "You and your mother killed Arianna. I'm going to make sure she doesn't die in vain." He gives Will a double cheek-smackey-smack and leaves.

Rafe says what happened was an accident. Gabi asks about Will's argument with Arianna, but Rafe tells her just being together as a family is what's important. Sami walks in and Rafe says he wants her to be there, too. EJ comes in behind her and watches the Hernandez family hug.

Kate can see Vivian but not hear her. They play charades and Vivian gets the message across that Kate has to put in the bluetooth. Kate finds it and Vivian tells her where she is. Kate asks if Brady put her there. "How did you know," asks Vivian.

"Good for him," says Kate.

"No," good for you, "Says Vivian."

"Well, you're right," says Kate, "I must admit I'm pretty happy to see you there."

Rafe and Gabi leave to talk to their mom, who has phoned. Sami stands alone in the room with Arianna.

POP QUIZ!

To earn your PhD in DOOL, what happens next?

A) Your local news breaks in to announce the President has arrived in your town and his motorcade has traffic at a standstill. There's nothing anyone can do about it, but your local yokels will stay on the scene until the show is over so you can miss the big ending.

B) Sami rolls the defibrillator over, dials it up to the highest setting and tries one more time to revive Arianna. When she presses the button to activate it, all the power in Salem goes down.

C) Arianna begs Sami to remove the bedpan she's been sitting on for hours.

D) Sami plays with the switches on Arianna's monitors and suddenly finds the signal from the missing DOOL satellite.

If you answered "E," Arianna wakes up, sees Sami and spews vindictive accusations as her dying words... You win an all-expense paid trip to the morgue with Arianna! (You get at least half-credit if your answer was "A").

Vivian tells Kate the story of her insarcophazation and says Kate can get revenge on the two people she hates the most — Nicole and Victor — by getting Vivian out of the sarcophagus.

Arianna grunts, "I have proof... ugg... ack..." Rafe and Gabi walks back in. Sami tells them Arianna was talking and said she loves them, but Arianna drifts back off. Her machines beep. Lexie and Melanie rush in. Lexie examines as Arianna flatlines. Lexie shakes her head, "I'm sorry." She puts another notch on her stethoscope.

Will walks in as the tears flow.

EJ walks into the waiting area with flowers and sees Sami and Will come out of Arianna's room and hug. Stares.

Inside, Rafe kisses Arianna. Gabi watches and cries. They hug. Arianna's in a better place... a beautiful place... where there is no DOOL.

Prevuze, give Rafe a break. One man can be a super-star in just so many areas – FBI, undercover agent, algebra, 1/4th of a supercouple…

CODE BLUE IN THE ONLY PATIENT ROOM IN THE HOSPITAL...

Ya know, they could at least move the bed to the other side of the room or something. Just to PRETEND like there is more than one set.

She puts another notch on her stethoscope.

With Lexi’s track record of declaring patients dead when they aren’t, I’d ask for a second opinion on that.

Loved the SofA picture and the POP QUIZ. I was really hoping (D) was the correct answer to that one. Maybe soon?

I get a half-credit because I selected 'A' because the best choice for where I live wasn't listed: Your local weather geek breaks in to announce there's a cloud in the sky. She promises to stay on with the radar screen until it's across and out of the other side of the state.

How conveeeeenient Kate 1. Ends up in Viv's room, 2. just happens to turn on the monitor and 3. can find the bluetooth. Oh well, the scenes should be pretty interesting with Vivian/Kate, Kate/Victor or with Kate/Nicole once they find out they both know the secret.

Thank God nobody else was around when I read CODE BLUE IN THE ONLY PATIENT ROOM IN THE HOSPITAL! And I was JUST thinking the same thing, Applecheeks, about why not at least rearrange the room a little? Jeez!

I also LOL over "I think the title would fit you quite well...The Duchy-Bag of Tanquir."

What a welcome break this was in a never-ending afternoon, Prevuze! Thank you for helping me get thru the day.

Love you Prevuze and I just had to make a comment today....I watched this eppy live today and I have one thing to say to Galen Gerring, "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, EMOTE! I felt like I was watching Rafe say goodbye to the distant cousin he was forced to stay with because no one else in the family likes her. Those scenes were just pathetic, no real emotion or sense of agony over the loss of a sister. Just blank stares and monotone statements. You know, like every other Rafe scene.

Thank the Lord it's over, this has been dragging out for too long now.

I haven't heard a single line about anyone wondering who was driving the car that hit her? (which is the ONLY reason she is dead, not becuase of Sami or Will) I'm so sick of EJ and his self righteousness, badgering Will every chance he gets. If he cared so much for her, how come he isn't out searching for the person who actually hit her?????

Two big laughs from today's post:

It's not unusual for men to walk off on Sami Brady.

and

EJ walks into the waiting area where Will continues to brood. Will tells him to scram. EJ ignores him. "I know you didn't shoot me."

"I wish I had," says Will, "Let's face it... my father has shot you, my mother has shot you, I'm bound to do it someday because it's in my genes."

Please forgive me, for I am stupid and have yet to figure out how to italicize. I need Rafe to come and tutor me on the computer.

EJ will probably team up with OJ to search for the real killers.

oh man, this episode was painful to watch. the script was coding blue. between the amp'ed melodrama over who killed who, rafe's hollowness and brady's and gabi's sad attempt at deeply felt loss, this whole situation was a fine mess. thanks Prevuze for posting, you're the Dool recaping martyr - making the sacrifice of stomaching what's left of the "sami/rafe yawnfest plus guests" and saving many the pain of watching.

To italicize:
You start the section you want in italics with the following symbol: < i >
At the point you want to finish the italics: < /i >

The above examples have spaces after & before the < > signs and the "i"s. DON'T leave spaces. I did it in this explanation so you could see the symbol. If I'd closed up the spaces the symbol would have disappeared when the message was posted. ;-)

You can bold sections/words the same way. Just use a "b" instead of an "i".

Hope this works out for you.

This was a rather sad eppi today, and I'm sorry to see Arianna go. I always liked her work as a soap actress...

I can't speak for others, but this 1/4th of a supercouple show is getting worse and worse by the day! We really need EJ's 1/2 a brain to kick into gear and start getting on Sami's case about shooting him...although, I don't see what good it would do him to blame Sami. I mean, he was drunk, waving his gun around and ranting about taking his kids and leaving...what was Sami supposed to do...you see a gun, you use it! It's kind'a hard to argue with that kind of logic...

Guess I didn't need Rafe's expertise after all.

This is an excellent opportunity for a product placement ad for Depends.

"You're denying your sister her dying wish," says EJ.

No, Rafe is protecting Sami’s homicidal arse.

“You married Lucas for five million, but that's one week's profit for my wells."

…and the best that Vivian can do for a manservant is Gus?

"We all know who's fault this is," says Rafe.

Yeah, the person driving the car that ran down Arianna – geez! Instead of making stupid accusations, Rafe should be calling in his FBI connections to ID the vehicle.

D) Sami plays with the switches on Arianna's monitors and suddenly finds the signal from the missing DOOL satellite.

The faithful can only hope that’s the correct answer. LOL!!

Nicole – the Duchy-Bag of Tanquir. Sounds about right!! Thanks for the entertaining recap on what sounds like a pretty maudlin episode of Daze.

Yeah, I watched it live, too, and the only person who emoted over the corpse was Melanie, who freaked out over losing her "best friend." Buh, what? Did I miss all the scenes with Mel pouring out her heart to her Bestie over chowdah at the Brady Pub?
