Goodnight, Mrs. Kiriakis, Wherever You Are

Unfortunately, we've lost the DOOL satellite, perhaps permanently. While everyone who uses the feed is continuing to assess the situation, I am, in conjunction with Barb at the Salem Spectator, asking for a Canadian reader, or someone in the US who can receive the Canadian broadcast, to help by recording and uploading the show. That way, our blogs will remain at least a bit ahead in the US. If you think you can help Prevuze and other blogs, please contact me at prevuze@gmail.com. Thanks.

Victor and Maggie are in the crypt. Victor whines around about what a bad guy he's been and how disappointed Isabella would be in him. Ever-cheerful Maggie tells him Izzy would love him no matter what. She takes his hand, "You can be as cold as ice, and there isn't a sentimental bone in your body, but there is that warm and loving heart that makes you so damn complicated." Victor wonders how Maggie always knows the right thing to say.

Vivian hears that and wails inside the coffin. Then she thinks things through, "Pull yourself together, Vivian. Once Maggie finds out what Victor has done she won't give him the time of day."

Maggie continues, "You've made a couple of veiled references to something you've done lately. It has to do with Vivian, doesn't it?"

Stef 'n Ho come into the rumpus room together. They talk about Arianna's accident. There is a knock at the door. Kate answers to find Chad.

Will fakes spilling Arianna's purse at the pub. He rifles through it but can't find the recorder. Gabi comes out and wonders what he's up to.

Dr. Walters comes out of Arianna's room and gives Rafe the bad news. Stick a fork in Arianna, she's done. Rafe is livid. Dr. Walters suggests calling a priest. Rafe thinks calling a doctor who knows what he's doing might help more.

Rafe goes into Arianna's room. He sits beside her. Arianna vegetates.

Outside in the waiting area, EJ paces. He begs Arianna to rally, "You're the only person I can count on." He watches as Rafe sits beside her.

Will tells Gabi he's a klutz and spilled the purse. He touches her arm and says he wishes he could say everything will be all right.

Rafe starts the death watch. He talks about finding the cat Milo when they were young. Arianna nursed Milo back to health by asking God for a miracle. Now Rafe says they need another miracle, "God doesn't seem to be listening to me right now, so you ask him."

Victor don' wanna talk about Vivian. Neither does Maggie. So what do we do? We talk about Vivian. Victor says he's dealing with Vivian his way, not the Maggie Horton way, which means he's not going to blab what he's doing all over town. Maggie says she figured he married Vivian to protect someone, "Somehow, some way, you were taking one for the team. Am I right?"

Kate tells Chad this isn't a good time. Stefano walks up behind her, sees Chad at the door and tells Kate to let him in. Chad says he's there to apologize for being rude. He says he doesn't think it would be a good idea to take the job. Stefano says he admires his spunk and the fact he wants to make it on his own. He leaves to join EJ at the hospital. Chad starts to go. "Not so fast," says Kate, "I stuck my neck out for you and want to know why you are rejecting the offer."

Chad says, "Because you weren't doing it for me, you were doing it for Mr. DiMera."

Victor mentions the wedding day when Maggie offered him a ride. He says if she had done that earlier he isn't sure where they would be right now. Brady shows up. Vivian watches the scene unfold, "Tell him everything, Brady."

EJ asks the nurse if there is anything he can do, like maybe have Arianna's phone and call her friends. The nurse says she'll look for the phone in Arianna's purse, but discovers her purse is missing.

Kate thinks Chad misunderstood. She reminds him when she first offered the job Chad thought she was coming on to him. Chad says he figured Kate was going for the record for doing every guy in Salem. He says he's sorry he misunderstood. Kate tells him she was just trying to help him out. "If you want to stick to that story it's fine," says Chad, "But I can make it without your help." He leaves.

Rafe calls Father Matt and asks him to come to the hospital. Dr. Walters says there is no change in Arianna's condition. Rafe says he hasn't told his mother or sister yet. He leaves to make the calls.

Will tries to be supportive, "You'll see her again. She'll be OK. The doctors at University Hospital are the best. At least that's what the undertakers in town say." Gabi wonders why this had to happen when Arianna was getting her life together. Rafe calls and gives her the bad news. Gabi hangs up and tells Will it's really bad. Will rushes over and hugs her.

Stefano joins EJ, who tells him it's just a matter of time, "She knows who shot me. She's been one of the best friends I've ever had."

"She's been one of the only friends you've ever had," says Stefano. He wonders where the proof is now. EJ tells him about the missing handbag. Stefano wonders if Will has been around the hospital, "It shouldn't take too much to find out what Arianna wanted to show us."

Gabi rushes out of the pub. Will calls Sami and gets her voicemail. He says the camera is not in Arianna's purse, "There is something else you need to know. Call Rafe."

Rafe sits beside Arianna and goes through a litany of everything he has done to be such a jerk. It's a very long scene.

Kate looks at Chad's birth certificate, holding it in her gloved hands, and says she can't keep Madeline's secret any more because Chad is getting wise to the situation. She calls Chris, "I want to arrange a delivery, but I can't be connected to it."

"OMG, Miss Kate," says Chris, "I thought you had forgotten alllll about me."

Stefano says he thinks the best way to honor Arianna is to finish what she started. EJ blames himself for what happened to her because she was doing it for him, "There is still something I can do for her."

Maggie decides it's time for her to leave. She goes and Brady apologizes for walking in on her and Victor. "That's OK," says Victor, "It's hard to get romantic when there is a live woman in the coffin next to you."

Brady speaks from recent experience, "Not if you're in here with Nicole." He wonders if Victor is having second thoughts about Vivian's insarcophagation. Victor says he's not. Brady says, "I think you're getting soft when you're around Maggie."

"Quite the opposite," says Victor.

Will is at the hospital with Rafe. Will blames himself for what happened to Arianna since he was arguing with her. Rafe blames himself for calling her a liar, "I think just now she forgave me." Father Matt comes out of Arianna's room and asks Rafe to step in.

Inside, Father Matt gives Arianna last rights as Gabi and Rafe watch.

Brady says he thinks they should end things because Victor and Maggie have no shot while Vivian is inside the coffin. Victor thinks his only chance is to keep her there. Vivian has her own personal rant, "I don't know what's more nauseating... the toxic fumes or this conversation. Why is it always about Maggie, Maggie, Maggie? As God is my witness, I'll get out of here and get even with Maggie Horton."

EJ calls Brady, "Whatever you're selling, EJ, I'm not buying."

"Just listen," says EJ, "Arianna's in the hospital. She was hit by a car. It's bad. You need to get down here quick, if you want to say goodbye."

The last rights continue. Gabi falls apart and runs out. Rafe chases. Outside the room, he sees Will and tells him Gabi shouldn't be alone. Will takes over the chase.

EJ wonders how Nicole will feel when she hears about this after framing Arianna.

Kate has prepared the birth certificate for mailing to Chad. The delivery boy arrives, takes the envelope and heads out on his mission.

Brady arrives in Arianna's room, "It's true." He says EJ called and told him, "I'm so sorry, Rafe." He asks for a moment alone with her.

Rafe leaves. Brady strokes Arianna's hair, "What the hell happened to us? We had plans and dreams. I was so happy with you. Even when we separated I told myself it would be OK because I would have you in my life. Why did it have to turn out this way?"

Vivian says Victor did the right thing when he told Maggie to go and not come back. She reminds him Brady is wavering and Nicole is a loose cannon, "You are doing all this for a woman who isn't sure she is attracted to you. She won't give you the time of day when she finds out what you have done."

"Then I'll just have to make sure she doesn't find out," says Victor. As he walks out, he takes a cue from Jimmy Durante, "Goodnight, Mrs. Kiriakis, wherever you are."

Vivian vows Maggie will find out, "Then that aging coquette will be out of your life forever."

Time passes. Vivian sings Ninety-Nine Bottles Of Beer On The Wall. She flicks on the TV, "Look who's here... Nicole Just the one I wanted to see."

Brady tells Arianna she's too beautiful, alive and smart to be in this situation. But not smart enough to look before she runs into the street. He tells her he still cares about her as Kate walks in, "I haven't been around, though. I've been too preoccupied with torturing some disgusting woman."

Will finds Gabi outside crying. He says he's sorry, "I never meant..."

"What?"

"I was just trying to get through to her," says Will, "I don't know why she ran away from me." Gabi figures she ran from Will and it's all his fault.

EJ finds Rafe. He says Arianna was desperate to tell him something. Rafe flashes back to Arianna telling him it was Sami who shot EJ. EJ asks, "Don't you think it's time you told me the truth?"

If it weren't for the prevuisms I don't think I could have stayed awake during this recap. The cast must feel like they are working in molasses in January the way this plot is oozing ahead.

Loved the censored link. And, oh my:

Brady says, “I think you’re getting soft when you’re around Maggie.” "Quite the opposite," says Victor.

This was as bad as the censored link. HAHAHA

Thanks for all you do, Prevuze!

PS. New word verification: berated.

As you can imagine, I berated Blogger for providing a perfect verification word too late to be able to use it in my previous comment.

"You weren't doing it for me, you were doing it for Mr. DiMera." Because? What Mr. DiMera needs is an inexperienced and uppity intern? What am I missing here? Is Chad really beginning to suspect he's Stefano's kid? On what basis? Talk about something out of left field unless I was snoozing and missed something.

Something else on the topic I don't get. Yeah, Stef might be mad at Kate at first when he finds out she didn't tell him about Chad immediately but mailing the certificate to him anonymously? Puhleeze. Just tell him now and say you didn't think his health could take the stress earlier or some baloney like that.

LOL over The doctors at University Hospital are the best. At least that's what the undertakers in town say."

And I think I'll take your advice, Applecheeks, and have my zapper at the ready when the teary goodbye scenes begin.

Thanks for the afternoon recap, Prevuze. I needed something to wake me up.

I think Rafe actually changed expressions for about a millisecond today.
The censored link and:
Brady says, “I think you’re getting soft when you’re around Maggie.” "Quite the opposite," says Victor.

Too funny!! Unfortunately, there would be at least one broken hip involved.

This is the first time I've ever cried from the sadness, while reading a Prevuze report :( I've laughed so hard I've started crying before, but this is the first sad-cry....

Poor Ari :( The only half-smart woman in Salem who I could respect and she's dead!

Someone please hit Sami for me. I need to have a good laugh again. Or have Doc Baker come in and say, "Surprise! Sydney's Nicole's after all!" That would make me laugh with glee too.

Late to Prevuze today, but this eppi sounds like a real snore-fest! I do feel bad for Ari though...with guys like Brady and EJ around, God might be working up a miracle just by puttin her out of her misery!

"Chad says, 'Because you weren't doing it for me, you were doing it for Mr. DiMera.'"...Kate's been "doing it" for Mr. DiMera way before Chaz was wetting his dipers...and, obviously his mother was "doing it" for Mr. DiMera too, that's how Chad got here in the first place...

"EJ asks, "Don't you think it's time you told me the truth?'"...Did I read that right? EJ asked Rafe to tell him who shot him??? What incentive would Rafe have to tell him the truth! Oh boy, EJ's head wound must be bigger than I thought!

Have a great evening everyone!

Now Rafe says they need another miracle, "God doesn't seem to be listening to me right now, so you ask him."

Rafe found another sick kitty?

Dr. Walters says there is no change in Arianna's condition. Rafe says he hasn't told his mother or sister yet.

What’s he waiting for? Does he want to pick out the coffin all by himself too? Rafe calls the priest to administer the last rites but he can’t bring himself to call their mother. Geez!

Brady says, "I think you're getting soft when you're around Maggie."

"Quite the opposite," says Victor.

LOL!!!!!

EJ wonders how Nicole will feel when she hears about this after framing Arianna.

She’ll probably get horny and want to go another round with Brady in the mausoleum.

As he walks out, he takes a cue from Jimmy Durante, "Goodnight, Mrs. Kiriakis, wherever you are."

When I saw that scene, I had to laugh. I also wondered how many viewers understood the homage.

EJ asks, "Don't you think it's time you told me the truth?"

Obviously Rafe thinks EJ can’t handle the truth. Besides the truth would get this storyline moving, and we couldn’t have that, could we?

Prevuze – thanks for the recap and naughty censored link. It’s about time that Victor got some. I bet he ends his draught before EJ.

Salem Hospital has more patient privacy violations than any other institution on the planet! OMG..a little realism would go a long way here people! And the police dept isn't any better.

And why would Kate, of all people, feel she should just waltz into Ari's room for a visit? Is there some connection I'm missing here?

Poor Will, his back is gonna be up against the wall big time..he might just snap like Brady did and be Salem's new bad guy.

*spoiler*
Caroline switched Chloe's paternity test??? wtf..i hope that's just a rumor because thats the most unbelievable thing I've seen on this show yet (and that includes marlena turning into a panther!) Shes too busy babysitting to learn how to hack into a hospital computer system..maybe Ian helped her and she paid him in chowdah. LOL!

Vivian vows Maggie will find out, "Then that aging coquette will be out of your life forever."
Jeez, look who's talking!
Can't wait to read this afternoon's post! Keeps me awake at work! :)

I guess since Salem Hosp only has 2 nurses on staff (melanie never works anymore!) it would be hard to watch everyone at the station desk. But having only one patient room that always has a police guard it really shouldn't be too tough!
