That Useless Eunuch

The sarcophagus. Slowly we pan in.

Inside, Vivian watches Brady as he rants, "All I want to do is watch you suffer!" He tosses his drink into the camera and follows up by smashing his glass into it. A splash and crash double tantrum. Vivian begs him to listen.

Kate and Will are at the pub. "Don't ask me questions I can't answer," says Will.

"Can't or won't," says Kate, "You're hiding something. I need to know what it is." Will flashes back to Sami's confession.

Sami wants to know what to do about removing EJ from life support. Lexie, being the doctor, doesn't have a clue. She says EJ left a living will. Dr. Jason there's-a-new-hunk-in-town Walters steps in, "I'm afraid Mr. DiMera's odds are lower than a Salem slut in a back alley."

Sami goes back to the original question. She wants medical advice. Since Lexie is in the room, she doesn't get that but Lexie recommends pulling the plug. Sami walks over and stares into EJ's room.

Inside the coffin, Vivian huffs, puffs and begs. She says she's thought about the horrible things she's done and thanks Brady for raising her consciousness. She says he should do the right thing and let her go. She plays the Isabella card and tells Brady his mother would want him to do that.

Maggie says, "The time isn't right for us, Victor. Maybe someday..."

"Maggie," says Victor, "Your Social Security checks are rolling in like water over Niagara Falls. You don't have that many 'somedays' left."

Dr. Jason who-needs-EJ-when-I'm-around Walters says he'll give Sami a moment. Lexie bawls. Rafe stops doing the Macarena across the room long enough to comfort her. Sami asks, "Should I just let him die?"

Stefano charges in, "Let him die? Who are you — God?"

Maggie reminds Victor he's still married. Victor says he'll honor her request, but doesn't like it. "Things are what they are," says Maggie.

"That's another thing I like about you," says Victor, "The way you come up with deep thoughts like that." Maggie says she'll be at the memorial and leaves. Victor stares at a picture of him and Vivian.

Brady says he's thinking about his mother and that's why he's leaving Vivian int the sarcophagus. Vivian vows to rise again and says Gus will find her. Brady says Gus left town and no one knows where he is.

Lexie stops Stefano as he lunges toward Sami yelling and screaming. Rafe hustles Sami off. Stefano looks in EJ's room and says he can't calm down, "There will be plenty of time soon enough to do that."

Will asks, "You think my mom shot EJ?"

"No, I don't," says Kate, "She has an alibi, but I wouldn't have blamed her if she did because she would have been protecting her children. I would do that myself. And that includes my grandchildren. Remember that." Lexie calls and says Kate has to come to the hospital to help keep Stefano from bouncing off the walls.

Sami is with EJ in a waiting room. Sami harangues about Stefano. Rafe tries to calm her down. "Maybe I should just have him taken off the machines," says Sami.

"You can't do that," says Rafe, "If you do, the charges against the person who shot him go from attempted murder to full-blown..."

REDRUM!

Dr. Jason isn't-it-time-for-a-gratuitous-shirtless-scene Walters and the nurse inspect EJ as Stefano and Lexie watch from outside. Jason what-a-hunk-a-doc Walters comes out and shakes his head.

Vivian insists Gus would never abandon her. Brady tells her Gus called Maggie to warn her. Vivian changes her tune, "That useless eunuch!" Vivian begs. Brady chortles. And drinks. Vivian tells him about the toxic substances inside the sarcophagus. Brady asks what they will do to the person inside. "First," says Vivian, "you become insane and then become a vegetable."

"If that's true," asks Brady, "And if you were going to do that to Maggie, why shouldn't you suffer the same fate?"

"Your grandfather will come to my rescue," says Vivian.

"This would be a favor to him," says Brady, "And he will never find out." Vivian tells him not to underestimate Victor and reminds him she arranged the memorial and if she's not there people will ask questions. Brady agrees, but turns off the TV.

Stefano says he's going to call in specialists, "I'll call in Johns Hopkins... the Mayo Clinic... Dr. Oz..."

Lexie tries to insert a dose of reality, "There is a time when you have to let go... of people... of family... of life... of your favorite soap opera, which has become a cartoon of itself..." Stefano rationalizes and goes in to sit with EJ, who now has hope since Lexie has determined there is none.

Rafe says he doesn't want the shooter to face a murder charge. Sami flashes back to the shooting, "OMG, you know!"

Brady comes in the den as Victor curses at his computer and says he hasn't gotten an email he was expecting from China. Brady reminds him it's 2AM there. Victor tells Brady no one will blame him if he doesn't want to take part in today’s ceremony for Izzy. Brady says he will be there, and leaves.

A nurse comes out of EJ's room and tells Lexie, "No change, doctor." Lexie cries and remembers telling EJ about a patient on life support. EJ responds, "If I were ever in that position... life is about being alive." Can't argue with that. Abe finds Lexie and they hug.

Rafe gets an epiphany, "I knew it... Will!" Of course, in Rafe's case, any thought is so rare it counts as an epiphany.

Sami freaks, "What? You think Will shot EJ?"

"Who did you think I meant," asks Rafe.

Sami backpedals, "I don't know, but what makes you think it was Will?" Rafe says Will had motive but if it was him and Sami pulls the plug it ups the charges.

Sami gasps, "You're going to turn my son into the police?"

"I have to," says Rafe, "I saw him skateboarding in Salem Park and that's against the law."

Brady comes back in the bedroom carrying a computer. Vivian is happy to see him. He says he thought about letting her out but has a better idea. He says he came up with a plan to have her tell people where she is, "I have your computer and I'm going to send an email for you." Brady is totally pleased with himself. He giggles as he types...

"Dear Victor: By the time you read this I will be gone. It is quite clear to me now that our relationship simply cannot go on. We were just not meant to be. In any event my work here is done. The shrine for Isabella will stand for all time. Don't try to find me or call. I have a new phone and will change my name. In the end I realize your heart belongs to Maggie. I wish you both a long and happy life. Love Vivian."

Vivian wails.

Stefano stands above EJ, "Go ahead and die, son because in Salem the doctors can't save you but if you are dead you usually come back to life."

Sami rants and raves. Rafe says he doesn't have any evidence against Will, "Maybe he's covering for someone, but I would never turn him in. I would protect him the way I would protect you."

Sami blubbers, "I love you. Thank you."

"I love you, too," says Rafe, "and you have no reason to thank me. But if I think Will is a suspect, others will, too." Sami says the truth is Will didn't do it and no one can prove he did. She leaves.

Abe comforts Lexie. Kate and Will show up. Lexie gives them the bad news and says a decision will have to be made soon. Sami and Rafe walk up as Lexie paints the dismal picture. Lexie turns to Sami, "The decision is up to you." Everyone turns and stares at God Sami. Suddenly...

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Dr. Jason at-least-there-is-one-good-looking-guy-on-this-show-with-a-decent-haircut Walters runs in and works on EJ. He finishes, comes out and says EJ had a temporary episode. Sami asks if there is any hope.

Dr. Jason eye-candy Walters says there is always hope but the odds aren't with them. Stefano says he asked for a sign and got one.

Dr. Jason the-incredible-hunk Walters turns to Sami, "What would you like us to do?"

"I'm going to need a minute with EJ," says Sami. She goes into his room.

Brady just can't believe what a masterpiece he's written, "This is good... 'I wish you both a long and happy life together.' That sounds like you. Now all I have to do is send it." He presses the button. He says Vivian's letters have to go along with her laptop, jewelry and things. Vivian begs as Brady searches the room for her stuff. He finds another cell phone, "There is a text message on it, 'Waiting for word.' What's that about?"

"It's a publisher interested in my memoirs," says Vivian.

"That's hilarious," says Brady, "I'm thinkin' this is from someone who was going to help you stuff Maggie into the sarcophagus. Let's text him back."

Brady types into the phone, "Change of plans. Mission aborted."

Vivian roars, "YOU BASTARD!"

Brady gets Lawrence's ashes. He says he knows Vivian wouldn't leave without them, "I'm gonna dump his dust in the pet cemetery. He'll have a wonderful view of Isabella."

Sami stands over EJ's bed, "Why can't this just be over."

For the first time in ages, the audience gives a standing ovation.

"I have loved you and hated you," says Sami, "Sometimes at the same time, but I never thought it would end like this." She leaves. Outside she announces, "OK. I've made my decision." Stares, stares, stares.

Vivian flails and panics, "I can't take it any more... wait... Victor doesn't believe Brady... he'll come to my rescue." Choke-gag-uuuggghhhh!

Brady comes into the den and says he's ready for the memorial. Victor thinks this is a meaningful thing Vivian has done, "She did one good thing in her life." Brady asks if he has checked to see if that Chinese email came in. Victor goes to check and gets Vivian's email instead, "Huhwha? I don't believe a word of this."

Stefano, Lexie, Sami and the nurse stand over pre-corpse Buzz' bedside. "Go ahead," says Sami.

YANK!

Outside, Will gets misty. We pan in on EJ's lifeless body.

Out in the audience Mable turns to Gertie, "I'm just glad they gave that new chunk-of-a-hunk doctor a believable name instead of something fakey and stupid like 'Ty Treadway.'"

Sami stands over EJ's bed, "Why can't this just be over." Yes, put us all out of our misery.

Unless Prevuze wanted to spare us, it sounds to me like Sami was just chosing a pair of shoes vs. pulling the plug on EJ. Sigh, these writers.

Starfish, such a crack detective!!

On the other hand, Brady and Vivan is the best the story going. Love that Victor doesn't believe a word of the email!!

LOL... Brady. For a guy who's walking on the dark side, he certainly is thinking of all the angles.

And what doesn't Victor believe? That is just left hanging. Does he not believe the email is authentic, or does he not believe Vivian is really letting him go, or does he not believe his good fortune that he might actually be rid of her. Three very different POVs.

"The sarcophagus. Slowly we pan in."...OMG! it had me LOL as soon as I opened the blog page. Not only am I having insomnia, now I'm having a laughing fit! Apparently, they've hit a goldmime with this ridiculous s/l. It just goes to show you what a warped state of mind a DOOL viewer has...if it's crazy, we love it!

LOL over the pic of Will hiding his "Playboy" under his matress!!! Sami's problems are multiplying by the minute, aren't they...she's getting hit with having to take EJ off life support AND finding out her son is NOT into girlie magazines! Her personal beverage boy better be ready for her mood swings today...

"Rafe stops doing the Macarena across the room long enough to comfort her."...OMG Prevuze, I LMAO at that one!!! It's either that I'm slap happy or you guys are c'razy!...I can totally picture Rafe doing the Macarena if Sami decides to take EJ off life support...He's PERMANENT beverage boy now! Time to Par'teee!!!

"Dr. Jason at-least-there-is-one-good-looking-guy-on-this-show-with-a-decent-haircut"...That's right!!! What are we gonna do if EJ goes back to growing his hair??? I'm sooooo liking his buzz! OH NOOOO!!!!

"Sami stands over EJ's bed, 'Why can't this just be over.'" ...AMEN to that! I don't think I can take much more of this s/l!

K...back to tossing and turning...have a nice day everyone!

He tosses his drink into the camera and follows up by smashing his glass into it.

Prevuze, are you mistaken? Is Brady actually watching DOOL?

Dr. Jason there's-a-new-hunk-in-town Walters steps in.

Walking and talking eye candy – things are looking up.

She plays the Isabella card and tells Brady his mother would want him to do that.

The same mother that Vivian buried in a pet cemetery. While he might be drunk as a skunk, Brady’s brain appears to be firing on all cylinders. Vivian ought to use caution when spouting her creative justifications.

"Maggie," says Victor, "Your Social Security checks are rolling in like water over Niagara Falls. You don't have that many 'somedays' left."

Snarky, snarky Prevuze! LOL!!!

"There is a time when you have to let go... of people... of family... of life... of your favorite soap opera, which has become a cartoon of itself..."

Amen!

"I would protect him the way I would protect you."

Since there appears to be only one way that Rafe “protects” Sami, does that mean that Rafe and Will’s dialogue is going to be typed in pink? The way Rafe is already going at it with Sami he could easily be the poster boy for Viagra.

Stefano says he asked for a sign and got one.

…and it says “DOOL Blows Chow”.

The whole concept of Sami making life and death decisions for EJ is pure silliness. Other than shaking his head, did Dr. Hunk-A-Bunch have any communication with Sami or Stefano? Where’s a priest? EJ’s Catholic, so he would have been given Extreme Unction. Where are the grief counselors? Someone should be dealing with Stefano. Since EJ is a young man with viable organs, there would also be teams of doctors ready to harvest his heart, kidneys, liver, teeth veneers, etc.

While the writers have made an overwrought mess out of “who shot EJ”, they’re doing a terrific job camping it up with Brady and Vivian. It just cracks me up that a sarcophagized Vivian can remain so calm and have the presence of mind to continue her conniving.

I’m glad that Will has Playboy stuffed under his mattress. I think Kate would have had the big one had she found Playgirl instead. Bulldog, those shears they used to shave EJ's head look like the same ones I use to trim the hairs off my horse’s nose. Trust me. They can take a lot of gunk.

Okay prevuze, lmao, all I can say is these are so hilarious I'm wishing now I had known about this blog sooner. And I agree, at least they didn't give him some ridiculously fake sounding name like "Ty Treadway", :P

Stefano stands above EJ, "Go ahead and die, son because in Salem the doctors can't save you but if you are dead you usually come back to life."

Isn't that the truth?

I was actually figuring Arianna would come running in and give EJ the "breath of life".

Yeah, is it wrong that I love the sarcophagus storyline? I mean, I love Vivian but evil-crazy-Brady is awesome. I wonder why Victor never thought about getting rid of Vivian before Brady did?

Dr. Jason there’s-a-new-hunk-in-town ; who-needs-EJ-when-I'm-around; isn't-it-time-for-a-gratuitous-shirtless-scene; what-a-hunk-a-doc; eye-candy; the-incredible-hunk Walters,

Prevuze, for God’s sake, quit beating around the bush and tell us what you think about the new doc!

Sami flashes back to the shooting, "OMG, you know!"

No Sami, unlike your 18-19 year old teenage son, the big bad FBI agent doesn’t know.

…in Salem the doctors can't save you but if you are dead you usually come back to life.

That could be the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s new city slogan – Salem, Where The Dead Go To Come Back To Life.

I know we've all asked for these writers to speed up the storylines. But can't they find some happy medium between drawing something out so long we don't give a damn (Sydney's kidnapping) and pushing it up past the speed of light (deciding to pull the plug on a patient 2 days after surgery)??

Great recap, Prevuze.

"the same ones I use to trim the hairs off my horse’s nose." Leslie, since I'm afraid of horses up close I can only say ewww! That sounds like an unpleasant task. HAHAHA

I'm loving the new and improved Brady Brady! Tossing Lawrence where he can view Isabella was a great touch.

And, Prevuze, I always say ewww! to Diet Coke, too. We're in agreement there.

There's no way they would be pushing for someone to make a decision about pulling the plug this soon. It's only been a couple of days. But even more unbelievable is the hospital springing for another doctor (who I can't wait to see, BTW). Since EJ's out of commission temporarily and they only have one DA and one other lawyer, Justin, they should've brought the new character in as his partner or something. With Hope, Sami and the other Bradys in town business looks promising.

LOL over Maggie's social security checks and EJ having hope now that Lexie's determined he has none.

Great Prevuze today, thanks!

Sorry, but I don't get the "Ty Treadway" joke, can someone fill me in?

12:32 PM
Anonymous LemonGrass 1985 said...

Anonymous above, the new doc's real name is Ty Treadway.

Why hasn't Stefano or say LEXIE called someone and had that POA overturned.

Sami's already engaged to someone else, is beyond pissed at EJ and would like nothing more than have sole custody of her kids.

She's not exactly unbiased.

Loved the gunky shears, love me some EJ, not crazy about all the product.

I can't stop laughing at my word verification; butbo.

aHHHHH,crack agent starfish "knows" the killer is Will. Maybe he is MEANT to be on the Salem PS after all....bonehead miscreant....gulch...*hang on...*throwing up a little in my mouth at the safe sex AGAIN*. I mean, really...nothin puts me in "the mood" like shooting my childrens father, expecting my teeneage son to cover and take the wrap, and then finishing off the job by pulling the plug before he gets a quarter inch of stubble! "Hey Johhny, daddys dead but Rafe is here...lets get ice crea,!!!" blech!

You never know--maybe Snarktastic Brady does, in fact , get back with Ari. They didn't seem to suit the first time around, but now after they've been through some independent adventures I'm not against it. It's not like he hid a body in a basement, and toted it out to a shed, and she didn't bonk EJ on the noggin, so I think those crazy kids might have a chance!
