Frankly, I think she timed it just so she could get a free trip to Ireland courtesy of the Salem PD.
I just noticed in this week's TV Guide Martha Madison is quoted as saying "Belle's going to be a DiMera! Who'da thought?" Think maybe TPTB booted her for blabbing the big "secret" (even tho we've figured it out anyway)?

Just got back in town and have been catching up on my beloved Prevuze and all the great comments.
To address the commentor who wanted to see a Marlena/Stephano pairing. They came thiiiissss close to doing that a while (a long while) ago.
I'm fuzzy on remembering the details, but Stephano had been struck by lightening or some such nonsense and ended up with amnesia (or maybe a conscience). He turned good. Marlena helped to nurse him back to health.
They almost became an item, as I recall, until we got the old villain-gets-his-memory-back-but-pretends-he-doesn't storyline. Doc tumbled to that fact eventually and escaped his clutches once again.

Hey, I just read that Lauren Koslow (Kate) has been let go from the show, and that Victor is returning.
First off...good ridence (sp) to Kate and her NOSTRILS! You'd think the actor would have enough money for a nose job!
Second...to reply to a comment from yesterday...I don't think EJ would claim one or both of the twins if they were Lucas'; even to get Sami because he would know that it would be putting whatever baby(s)he claimed at risk. I still think that they are either both EJ's but EJ is lying about Ali to protect her (cuz Stephano wanted a male heir) or Ali is really EJ's and Johnny is really Lucas' - and EJ switched the results to protect his daughter cuz he knew Stephano wouldn't go after Lucas' kid. It does make sense...I believe EJ is trying to be a good person. I also believe Sami & EJ will end up together, Will shot EJ (that will come out in 2015) and John is faking to protect his family - thats why he couldn't look at the pictures and why he "faked" remembering when visiting Belle. I also think Coleen's illness is being faked and Chrystal is either Lexi's twin or Coleen's daughter - making her something like Belle's cousin. Also, Brady is alive and fine in Ireland but Chrystal couldn't tell Belle to protect her.
just thought of something...if john is santo and colleens son, and therefore stefanos half brother, and ej is stefanos son.
roman is shawns son and therefore colleens nephew, and sami is romans daughter...doesnt that make sami and ej related? if so the twins must both be lucas or else have incest on our hands, i had enough incest on passions.
I don't think it does. John's new parentage doesn't have anything to do with Roman or EJ. Well, it makes him EJ's uncle I guess, but EJ is still the son of Stefano and some lady whose name escapes me. If EJ were the son of John then... well let's stop there.
Salem genealogy is not for mortal minds to ponder about.
