A Roll In The Persian Rug

Justin finds Hope at the Java Café. She tells him about the Christmas tree decoration party she, Bo and Ciara were planning, but says it has now fallen through. Justin asks, "What happened?"

"Carly happened."

Carly says, "I've looked so long for my daughter and now she hates me."

"Not as much as Hope," says Bo.

Vivian tells Victor she wants to make Carly suffer. She asks for Victor's help and he agrees with relish. And mustard. Vivian takes out an envelope and pulls a letter out of it.

Rafe hunts for Nicole but finds the room empty. He goes out and asks the guard if she was taken down for tests. The guard doesn't think so. EJ jumps in, "How could you be so stupid as to let a patient you're guarding get past you?"

"You're right," agrees the guard, "That's about as dumb as not knowing your wife is faking her pregnancy."

Nicole sneaks into a supply room, "I have to find Sydney." She turns on the lights and searches the place. She finds a set of scrubs, takes them off the shelf and gives a blank stare. Next, she finds a big parka and takes that.

Brady and Roman talk to commander Hogan. Hogan reminds them to keep their cell phones on and leaves. Brady asks how Sami is holding up. Roman says he hopes she's resting in the crummy hotel room he got her. He decides Brady should go back and talk to Nicole again. Arianna watches as they continue to discuss the case and Brady stands up for Nicole.

The guard insists the side door was locked. Rafe calls for a search.

Who put you in charge," asks the guard.

Rafe flashes his "Disgraced and decommissioned G-man" badge.

Nicole has donned the scrubs and parka. She finds scissors and cuts off her wrist band, and then decides the scissors will be a good weapon and takes them. Out she goes, dutifully turning off the lights.

Arianna watches as Roman gets a call from the Cleveland PD, which has come up with another person of interest. He leaves to check that out and Arianna comes up to Brady. Brady turns and gasps, "What the hell are you doing here?"

Arianna says she's there to help, then changes her story, "The real reason I came is you. I'm trying to understand because you say you love me but can't get Nicole out of your heart. What am I supposed to do with that? I can't live with it. I can't."

Rafe and EJ have been unable to find Nicole anywhere in the hospital. EJ rants at the guard who tries to defend himself. EJ stops ranting and ponders... God knows what.

Rafe finds the supply room and finds Nicole's stuff in the waste basket. He slowly pulls out her things and looks at the wrist band she cut off, "She got away." Another brilliant deduction by former agent Hernandez.

Nicole sneaks.

Hope says she doesn't trust Carly. Stop the presses! She tells Justin about Mia and Melanie vetoing Carly living at Maggie's.

"Why did they do that," asks Justin.

Her name didn't start with an 'M.'"

"Well," says Justin, "Carly does come with a lot of baggage. You and I just have carry on."

Hope tells Justin, "My gut reaction might have been right. She came back to take my husband."

Justin says, "Just sitting here with you trying to eat my gut is having a reaction, too, but it's not quite the same."

Carly can't believe how hostile her daughter and the 'other girl' were at Maggie's. She's positive Lawrence never talked to Vivian about the daughter, so she thinks the secret is safe.

Vivian has a letter Lawrence wrote to Carly before he died.

She reads from it, "What you have done to me is unforgivable, you whore! The shame is unbearable. Do not think you will escape the punishment you deserve. The proof of your sins will be destroyed. There will be blood."

Vivian thinks the secret is an affair. She thinks Carly betrayed Lawrence with Bo.

Rafe shows Hogan the ID badge and they find out an employee has reported a stolen parka. Rafe heads out to look for the parka.

Nicole sits in the bus station waiting area and goes through the pocket of the parka. She finds some change, goes back to the pay phone and mutters, "I need your help." She dials and gets Fay's answering machine. She hangs up and looks around, "OMG! This is where it happened." She remembers being with Sydney there and bawls.

Justin thinks there really is a secret and thinks it's dangerous. Hope vows, "I will crack the code." That's cop talk for 'meddle.'

Carly is frustrated to be so close yet so far from her daughter. "There is only one solution," says Bo, "We eliminate Vivian."

Vivian obsesses. Victor philosophizes, "Women betray men every day, but what that little slut did to Lawrence was more than a roll in the Persian rug. We have to find out if Bo was involved. If he was, the sooner we get Carly out of the picture, the better."

Roman comes up to EJ with Fay in tow. EJ gets nasty and asks where Nicole is. Unlike most Salem women, Fay is silent.

Nicole keeps trying to call. No luck, so she goes back into the waiting area and blubbers. Suddenly, a hand grabs her shoulder...

RAFE!

Bo says he doesn't mean they should bump Vivian off. He just wants to eliminate the threat, "We need leverage... something to pin her down."

"I think Victor is looking to pin her down, if you catch my drift," says Carly.

Bo thinks Vivian probably has plenty of skeletons in the closet. Carly isn't so optimistic.

Victor wants to set a trap for Carly. Vivian wonders if Kate has given them the perfect setup, "She suggested I had an eye out for you. Wouldn't that be a perfect way to do it, to make her think you and I are madly, passionately in love?" Victor raises an eyebrow.

Brady says he knows Nicole is a negative factor in his life, but doesn't think she's a gold-digger. Arianna blows her stack and tells him he knows the truth about Nicole but still wants to help her. Brady thinks that may be because Nicole is alone and desperate. "You're like... addicted to her," screams Arianna, "She's like a drug to you!"

Fay swears she doesn't know where Nicole is. Roman tells her the longer she stalls the worse it will be (for the audience, who has to suffer through all this). Fay admits she knew Nicole was planning to go to Canada. Roman tells her someone knocked Nicole out and they brought her to the hospital, then she escaped. Fay wonders where Sydney is.

"That's a good question," says EJ, "Where is Sydney?"

Roman says a search of Fay's car turned up a wig and bus tickets to Toronto. Fay flashes back to her offer to help Nicole. EJ gets in her face, "The next few words out of your mouth had better be the truth."

Rafe asks where Sydney is. Nicole dunno. She flashes back to being hit and worries about Sydney.

"You mean you really don't know where she is," asks Rafe, "She could be anywhere. She could be dead!"

Mr. Tact strikes again. That sends Nicole right off the rails, "DON'T SAY THAT ABOUT HER! DON'T SAY THAT!"

Bo wears a Santa hat and puts up the tree. He texts Hope but figures she'll wait until tomorrow to come by, which means Carly can stay the night. Carly declines, and then suddenly has an epiphany, "It's today... today is the day you and I were married." What a happy coincidence.

Justin and Hope are back at the mansion. Justin tells her this could be dangerous. Hope gets gnarly and tells him this is something she has to do. She thinks she and Bo can't get back together until Carly is out of the picture, or until Chloe's scars heal. She leaves. Justin opens an envelope and looks at pictures.

Roman figures Nicole's plan was to have Fay look like her and raise Sydney until Nicole got out of prison. Fay clams up.

Nicole struggles and tells Rafe not to say things like that. Rafe insists she tell him where Sydney is. Nicole continues to insist she doesn't know, "I changed my mind. I know she belongs to Sami. I was calling her."

Rafe is skeptical, "Right... and someone hit you. Do you know how hard that is to believe? I'm gonna let the cops take care of this."

Nicole pulls a John-Black maneuver. She whirls, twirls, wrestles herself away and pulls out the deadly scissors, "Stay away from me!"

Hope comes back, sees Justin reading the letter and asks, "Bad news."

"Yes," says Justin, "You came back." The letter is a Christmas letter and pictures from his family. Justin is mad at her that she and Bo can't find some way to get back together.

Hope says she wants his support and is only getting criticism, "This is about Carly persuading my husband I can't be trusted. I'm gonna find her secret and throw it in her face."

Carly decides she shouldn't have brought up the past. Bo says, "That's' OK. It was an important time. I didn't forget the date, but thought if I brought it up... I thought better of that. That's all."

"It wasn't a real wedding," says Carly, "It was just symbolic."

"It was a hell of a ceremony," says Bo. That calls for a...

FLASHBACK!

Carly puts the ring on Bo's finger, "I know now the gods have heard as I've prayed. I know now the gifts I've asked for have all been granted. I know now the word of old we truly have heard. I know now the Days Of Our Lives will have no number. I know now only good will come to us." Translation: doomed.

Fay blows up at Roman and tells him she knows about EJ abusing Nicole, "She ran to escape and I'm glad she took my granddaughter."

EJ stammers, "Your granddaughter?"

"She doesn't know," says Roman. He turns to Fay, "Sydney is not your granddaughter."

EJ drops the bomb, "Samantha Brady is Sydney's mother. Your daughter stole her and then passed her off as her own."

Brady thinks the accusation that he's addicted to Nicole is ridiculous. The cops call. Brady listens, hangs up and tells Arianna Nicole has escaped.

"Do you know where she would hide," asks Arianna.

"I have an idea," says Brady. They head out toward the Bat-Signal.

Rafe wrestles the scissors away, "Tell me where Sydney is or you will wind up in a world of hurt."

Vivian has moved into the Kiriakis mansion. Hope comes down and asks about her being back. Victor tells her Vivian will be moving in as his 'special guest.' Hope hitches but says she has no problem with that. How generous of her, since Victor owns the house.

Bo tells Carly she'll be safer there than she will at the Salem Inn. Carly insists she will be fine and says her Christmas wish is that he and Hope and Ciara will be back together for the holiday. Bo says he misses his family. Carly assures him there is a chance it will happen, "Don't give up. Don't ever give up."

Justin stands outside Bo and Hope's house, "Someone has to tell him." He knocks and wrinkles his brow.

EJ tells Fay the tale of the baby shell-game. Roman jumps in and tells her she can protect Sydney by doing the right thing, "Tell us where Sydney is."

Rafe and Nicole struggle, "Tell me where Sydney is! Tell me!"

Brady and Arianna rush in, Brady yells, "Don't hurt her!"

A deep fog obscures the ground as the Sopwith-Camel biplane circles its target high above the Alsace-Lorraine region. "I have nothing to live for back home," says the determined pilot, "I will do this for God and country." Sydney pushes the stick and her trusty craft slips into a power dive toward the dreaded crimson-red Fokker Triplane...

"DIE, RED BARON! DIE!"

Well the story ends with a great promising story of Syndey going after the Red Baron. A story I would much rather waste my time on.

Another brilliant deduction by former agent Hernandez Seriously the writers have been drinking the Kool-aid that they think we will buy Rafe as a boy genius.

I enjoyed everyone's me, me, me, me stories. Hysterical! I added my own and the list keeps growing! I enjoyed Leslie's so much I almost just copied hers and used it. Figuring by the time everyone read down to where I was, no one would remember - sortof like recycling of scripts and storylines on a show you all know.....

"How could you be so stupid as to let a patient you're guarding get past you?"

"You're right," agrees the guard, "That's about as dumb as not knowing your wife is faking her pregnancy."

Sad but true.

Rafe calls for a search.

Who put you in charge," asks the guard.

Rafe flashes his "Disgraced and decommissioned G-man" badge.

I was wondering the same thing. For a guy with no job, everyone seems more than willing to defer to the Rafester.

Brady turns and gasps, "What the hell are you doing here?"

Arianna is the only Hernandez that’s gainfully employed. Somehow, she manages to find someone to cover her shifts and has enough cash to buy an egregiously expensive last minute airline ticket.

She's positive Lawrence never talked to Vivian about the daughter, so she thinks the secret is safe.

Vivian has a letter Lawrence wrote to Carly before he died.

...so much for secrets being safe. Geez! Carly needs to take a page or two out of the Nicole letter larceny handbook. Get to the lawyer and make sure there are no postmortem mailings.

Brady says he knows Nicole is a negative factor in his life, but doesn't think she's a gold-digger.

The other negative in Brady’s life has to do with the number of brain cells he no longer possesses.

Carly had a baby out of wedlock – big freaking deal. I can understand that she might not want Vivian to know but keeping this information from Hope is ridiculous. Hope is a police officer and is trained to keep confidential information to herself. Although it pains me to side with Hope, Bo is an idiot for not being candid with Hope.

Ok so Sami is the lead player in this baby-switch-kidnapping-shittastic but she is not here ????? !!!

Anonymous – the baby switch storyline has never been about either one of Sydney’s biological parents. From the beginning, it’s been all about Nicole and Nicole and Nicole and even more Nicole. It’s been a Nicole storyline ad nauseum. I admit I’m not a fan of Nicole but I love EJ. That one was for you Berg!

Prevuze I loved the Red Baron reference. I must admit it reminds me of those Snoopy and the Red Baron songs. LOL!!!

She tells Justin about Mia and Melanie vetoing Carly living at Maggie's. "Why did they do that," asks Justin. Her name didn't start with an 'M.'"

Well, her last name does. Doesn’t that count?

Hope vows, "I will crack the code." That's cop talk for 'meddle.'

I second Leslie. There's been no reason to keep this from Hope. Especially at this point.

Roman tells her the longer she stalls the worse it will be (for the audience, who has to suffer through all this).

It's Prevuze who is doing most of the suffering. I'm doing a lot of zapping.

“You mean you really don't know where she is," asks Rafe.

Well, DUH!

She thinks she and Bo can't get back together until Carly is out of the picture, or until Chloe's scars heal.

LOLOL

FLASHBACK!

Prevuze, is that a real flashback or a fake one? I was thinking that it was another actor playing Bo during this period.

And here is one of the many HUH?! moments I had today: Bo tells Carly she'll be safer there than she will at the Salem Inn.

But it was OK for Carly to move into Maggie's house where the doors are never locked and people wander in and out at will??

My other head-scratching HUH?! group of scenes was Arianna hauling all the way to Cleveland to hash out her personal issues with a guy who obviously has other things (like finding his sister's baby) on his mind. That couldn't wait a day or two?

Absolutely LOVED the Adventures of SAFE cartoons. Can action figures for sale on the NBC huckster site be far behind?

It's an ugly, snowy day here. But my life is infinitely brighter after this stellar recap. Thanks Prevuze.

Looked real to me.

Can you use 'real' in a sentence when talking about DOOL?

My 'HUH?' moment today: Roman figures Nicole's plan was to have Fay look like her and raise Sydney until Nicole got out of prison. Then why was Nicole calling Sami? Why would Fay have to look like Nicole to raise Sydney?

Also, what would the appearance Vivian and Victor were together have to do with getting revenge on Carly? Why am I analyzing this??

Bo wears a Santa hat and puts up the tree. Maybe he can fall on his head again and that will 1. end his visions and 2. Carly can doctor him back to health. They'd have to make room for that cow Hope would have. And "Hope vows, "I will crack the code." If she has time to crack the big code of Carly's secret why doesn't she leave the Kiriakis mansion and go back to work?

I loved the Safe pictures and this sentence: Rafe flashes his "disgraced and decommissioned G-man" badge made me think of the beginning of that old Chuck Connors tv show 'Branded' where he was the disgraced Union soldier and they ripped the badge off his uniform. Think that's what they did to Rafe? HAHAHAHA

It's rainy and gloomy here but thanks for the Prevuze cheer! :D

Um...didn't Nicole once marry Lucas because she was paid $5 million to do so? But nah, she's no gold-digger...

"Brady says he knows Nicole is a negative factor in his life, but doesn't think she's a gold-digger."

And, when she was married to Victor (another guy w/o money) didn't she plot and plan to get around the prenup so that she could cash in? Remeber Jan speers? LOL

Appropriate word check: gredri, a variation of greedy ... just on topic!
