Philo T. Farnsworth - The Real Story

Salem, USA, August 15, 1939 – Philo T. Farnsworth, inventor, today unveiled an amazing newfangled gizmo which enables not only the transmission of sound like the modern miracle of radio, but also the transmission of pictures. Farnsworth speculates this new technology will someday enable people to watch talkies in the comfort of their own homes.

Monitoring the first commercial broadcast today at the Salem Hippodrome and Art Empornium, Farnsworth said, "I envision a time, say seventy years from today, when this medium (television, as I call it – I'm sure a better name will come along) will provide a means by which viewers will enjoy unprecedented options in programming. That's right, by August 15, twenty-ought-nine, there will be hundreds of channels to choose from, more than are available on today's radio dial. And yet with all those options the only thing you'll be able to find anywhere will be 24-7 coverage of some dead whacked out entertainer who moon-walked and didn't have sense enough to wear two gloves. This endless crap will only be broken up by an occasional soap opera showing inane programming that would bore the nearest fence post. I'm sure I will burn in hell for inventing this thing."

Prevuze

Farnsworth went on to predict by that date seventy years hence an adolescent approaching middle age named Sami Brady would run off with a guy named Luke O. Sistine, forsaking suitors named Lucas, EJ and Rafe. Unfortunately, the demonstration had to be cut short as three separate groups of very angry women calling themselves the Lumis, Ejamis and Safes joined forces. Once mobilized, the crazed females tarred and feathered Farnsworth
and ran him out of town on a rail.

Here's hoping you have a great, if not historic, weekend.

Lumi? Whoops! What was that? LUMI? It's a sign!

A sign that I love Saturday Prevuze. Thanks!

I love special Saturday editions of Prevuze. Especially when you get a history lesson in the process.

I hope they film a few scenes now and then in the Salem Hippodrome and Art Empornium. HAHAHA

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

SEE! If they had stuck with Radio there would have been no EJami vs Lumi vs Safe war.

Gotta love the Prevuze Saturday editions!

Golly, I fire up the PC on a Saturday and find that Professor Prevuze is conducting an on-line course in History of Television 101. I assume that my classmates and I can look forward to earning four credit hours from Salem University. I'm guessing the homework assignment includes a chart comparing Lucas, EJ, Rafe, and Luke O Sisteen. Gosh I hope that the cat doesn't eat the chart before I can turn it in.

Have a great Saturday everyone!
