A Pit Full Of Vipers

Melanie tells Phillip they just sold Nick's project for big bucks. Phillip says it will never see the light of day. HE'S the foundation and rescinds the approval.

EJ is on the phone asking to speak to the warden, "Tell me where the hell she is."

They wheel Nicole into some hospital set that looks like it came out of 'Les Miserables.' Nicole screams in pain. She takes a look around her and gasps, "Oh, no!"

The celebration continues at the pub. Bo congratulates Abe on becoming Salem's next mayor. Hope chimes in. Evan comes up and drags Abe away for a picture for the Chronicle. Hope calls Bo 'Mr. Commissioner.'

Bo tells her not to jump the gun, "Until Abe makes it official, you can continue to call me 'Mr. Good For Nothing Lazy Husband.' "

Tony tells Roman he doesn't look pleased, "There is a possibility my father was complicit in Moron-o's death and therefore in Abe's becoming mayor. I wish he had stayed out of this."

"You and me both," says Roman.

"Abe doesn't look too happy either," says Tony, "I wonder what that expression on his face means."

"I've seen that look before," says Roman, "His shorts are too tight. "

EJ bursts into the pub and grabs Bo, "Bo, listen, I need your help."

Bo asks, "What's the problem?"

EJ says, "Nicole... she's missing."

The guard wheels Nicole into the prison infirmary. "Hey," asks Nicole, "Aren't we going to University hospital? This looks like a place for misfits."

One of the bitch-ho'z over in the corner growls, "Who are you calling misfits?"

"Oh," says Nicole, "I only meant that in the warmest, most complimentary way." Nurse Shari comes up and Nicole demands a transfer, "I need a real doctor."

"Then why would you want to go over to University hospital," asks Nurse Shari. The guard helps Nicole into bed. He and Nurse Shari leave. Nicole stares.

Mayor-elect Abe speechifies, "I'm honored to have been elected, but I have something to share with you."

A guy in the back turns to another, "He's been sharing Lexie with half the guys in town for years."

Phillip says he can't reverse the decision. Melanie nukes. Phillip says the letter was sent without his approval or knowledge. He says he intended to give his approval, but then looked at Nick's proposal. Phillip wants Nick to run more tests. Melanie says, "Cut the bull, Phillip. Chelsea put you up to this, didn't she?"

EJ tells Bo that Nicole had female problems, but wasn't transferred to University Hospital. Bo isn't certain what EJ means. He looks 'female problems' up in the Guy Manual. The book advises, "Female Problems - if you take no other piece of advice from this book, remember this: NEVER ASK. YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW."

Nicole yells for the nurse. Bitch-ho #1 roars, "Shut you're pie hole. Shari went for a smoke."

Nicole cowers, "Thank you." Bitch-ho #1 tells Nicole her name is Candy.

"Because you're so sweet," asks Nicole. She sees the gash on Candy's forehead, "What's that?" Candy tells her she head-butted another prisoner, as she gets up and walks over to Nurse Shari's cart. She finds a pack of cigarettes and does a little dance. Bitch-ho #2 asks Nicole if she can borrow her rubbing alcohol. Nicole hands it to her. Bitch-ho #2, spits her gum out and guzzles the hooch. Nicole cringes.

Nurse Shari comes back in, "Who took my cigarettes? She looks at Nicole, who shifts her eyeballs in Candy's direction. Nurse Shari then goes over to Candy, "I'm gonna write you up for this." Nicole requests a private room. The bitch-ho'z cackle as Shari tells her they don't have a VIP area.

"Could I at least have a screen for some privacy," asks Nicole. Shari ignores her and leaves. Candy gives Nicole a death-ray stare. "What's your problem," asks Nicole.

"You."

Abe gives his acceptance speech. He says he's committed to making life better in Salem, but declines to leave town. He accepts the position to the sound of rousing applause.

Bo gets off the phone and says Nicole is in the hospital ward. EJ rushes off.

The bitch-ho'z confront Nicole, who cowers and asks, "Can't we be amicable?" They mock her for using big words. Candy plops down on Nicole's leg. Nicole squeals, "You're hurting me!'

Candy gets in Nicole's face, "Is that any way for you to treat your new best friend?"

Nicole makes a face, "Anyone ever introduce you to a toothbrush?" Nurse Shari comes back in and tells Candy to get back into bed. She tells her if anything happens like last time she's going back to solitary. Nicole asks what happened.

"I broke an inmate's jaw," says Candy.

Nicole looks down at Junior-Junior #1, "Oh baby, what did I get into?" Suddenly, she changes her tune and says she is feeling better, "I'd like to go back to my cell." The nurse says she wants the doctor to check her out anyway. She leaves and Bitch-ho #3 comes up and taunts Nicole. The bitch-ho'z decide to show Nicole who's boss. "I don't want trouble," says Nicole.

"Too Late," snarls Candy.

Phillip insists it was his decision, not Chelsea's. Nick becomes a diplomat. He says he believes Phillip. Melanie says she doesn't and rants. Phillip tells Nick to fine tune things and resubmit his proposal. Nick agrees. He thanks Phillip for the second chance. Phillip leaves and Nick apologizes to Melanie, "I know you wanted to see your cut sooner rather than later."

"It's not about money," lies Melanie.

Nick assures her they will get the project approved, "In fact, I'm going to the office right now to get to work on it. Would you like to go with me first and get a bite to eat at the pub?"

"No," says Melanie, "You go ahead and get to work. But it's not about money." Nick leaves. Melanie explodes.

Once Nick is gone, Phillip comes back. Melanie doesn't want anything to do with him, but Phillip forces his way in.

Back to the pub, where we establish the fact that Theo is with his sitter. Ciara, however, is out wandering around the seedy side of town. Bo comes back in. He tells Hope what EJ said and what happened with Nicole.

Hope says she is sorry Bo missed Abe's speech. "Yeah," says Bo, "I'm really heartbroken about that."

"Abe really had the crowd going," says Hope.

"He sure did," says Bo, "I noticed nearly all of them left. At least we have one official not in DiMera's back pocket."

Abe tells Roman the fact that Stefano may be responsible for Moron-o's death bugs him, "No one is going to keep me from doing my civic duty."

Nicole screams for help. The bitch-ho'z threaten to take care of her. Nicole apologizes for anything she has done to upset them. Bitch-ho #3 grabs her.

Outside, EJ comes up and demands to see Nicole. Nurse Shari refuses to let him in.

EJ demands again. Shari rejects again. EJ tells her the child is his. He begs for five minutes. Shari denies his request. EJ threatens, "I'm not going anywhere until I get to see Miss Walker."

Lexie says Abe wants to name the new commissioner soon.

Abe tells Roman he thinks Bo is the man for the commissioner's job, "But before I make any appointments, the first thing I want to do is to investigate Stefano." Roman says he will find out if the shooter is one of Stefano's men. Abe wants a piece of that action. Roman tells him he'll do the dirty work.

EJ gets off the phone, tells Shari this incident is far from over and storms out.

The bitch-ho'z close in on Nicole. She begs them to leave the baby alone. Candy bellows, "The only thing we're interested in is l'il ole you."

SSCCRREEAAMM!!

Nurse Shari jumps out of her socks and runs in to see what happened.

Nick goes into the Cheatin' Heart and shows Max the letter. Then he tells him the foundation has reneged, and Phillip is the one who will give the final OK. Nick says he looked things over and thinks he needs to reexamine the flaws in his work, "It needs to be tweaked." He asks Max' help. Max stammers and says Nick doesn't need his help.

Phillip looks at an advertisement in a magazine Melanie has been reading, "Two hundred fifty bucks for jeans! Nick may fall for your routine but I don't. Chelsea says you're only after the money."

"That's total crack," says Melanie.

"What the hell does that mean," asks Phillip.

"It means I can't say 'total cr*p' on TV," says Melanie.

Phillip tells her he'll eventually support Nick's work, "Nick could be set for life. I just hope he wises up to you. You're after his money but that's not gonna happen. Look for quick cash somewhere else."

Abe and Roman join Bo and Hope. Abe eyes Bo and says, "I think city hall needs some housecleaning."

"Great idea," says Roman, "Bo would make a much better janitor than commissioner."

Abe asks Bo to be commissioner. Bo hesitates, "I don't know, Abe... It's a big job... I'd have to think it over... FOR ABOUT A SECOND! WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK I WORE A TIE, ABE? I would be honored, Mayor Carver."

"Happy to have you on board, Commissioner Brady."

"Mayor Carver and Commissioner Brady," repeats Roman, "The wild west should have been so wide open."

Max hems and haws and then agrees to help Nick. Nick is elated, "When the funds come through I'll take you to a Bears or Bulls game."

"Let me get this straight," says Max, "You're going to make millions and repay me by taking me to a ball game? They don't come any more generous than that. At least I'm a big fan of Jim McMahon and Michael Jordan."

"You've haven't been to a sporting event for a while, have you," asks Nick.

Not true," insists Max, "I go to Baltimore Colts games all the time."

Nick brings up Melanie and says she will get Trent's share. Max — you remember Max, the guy who gave up the love of his life to defend his sister — tells Nick that Melanie is a gold digging tramp and says he needs to fight her if she thinks she's going to get a share of his grant. Nick argues. "I think she put you up to this," says Max, "Why are you doing this?"

Nick sighs, "I'm in love with her."

The guard handcuffs Candy. The nurse tells Nicole she has to stay there. Nicole huffs, "I'd be better off in a pit full of vipers." Suddenly EJ busts in with a court order to take Nicole out immediately.

The bitch-ho'z go nuts when they see Pretty Boy walk in, "Hey sexy!"

"Whoa! Where's my court order?"

EJ escorts Nicole out. Nicole gives the bitch-ho'z a parting shot, "It's been a slice of heaven ladies. We'll have to do it again sometime."

The reporters take pictures of Abe and Bo arm-in-arm. Tony congratulates both of them, "I feel like Salem is in capable hands."

"But I thought Abe won the election," says Roman.

Melanie reminds Phillip she is no longer a suspect in Trent's death. "The Salem PD has been wrong before," says Phillip, "I'd give you a list of its mistakes, but the show only lasts an hour. You know, I see a part of myself in you."

"Am I supposed to be flattered," asks Melanie.

"Not really," says Phillip, "It's pretty common. Parts of myself are scattered everywhere. You don't let anyone get in your way. In business that's an asset. But you come off as a spoiled brat."

"I genuinely care about Nick," says Melanie, "By the way, would you be interested in buying the Salem Bridge? "

"Nick may be good for you," says Phillip, "but you are wrong for him. He couldn't handle a girl like you."

"And you can?"

"Yeah," Phillip leers at her, "I can." He picks up an apple and chomps.

Max is stunned, "You're in love with her? She's trouble."

Nicole says she can't believe she is saying it, but tells EJ she is happy to see the inside of her cell again. She assures him the bitch-ho'z didn't hurt her. EJ apologizes about the fact that she has to endure this. She assures him the baby is fine. "This baby means the world to me," says EJ, "I don't know what I'd do if something happened to it."

Nicole whines, "You still think I'm guilty, don't you?"

"Why would you say that?"

"I just went through one of the most horrific experiences of my life. Call me selfish, but I thought you came back here to save me."

EJ clasps her hand, "I came back to save both of you. I'm saving for two now. "

hmm, so DOOL waited until the presidential elections to vote in Abe? lol

And really, what's the big thing with the money?

Melanie wants the money.
Nick says Melanie is legally or morally entitled to a share.
Nick wants to give Melanie the money.
Melanie wants the money.
Nick wants to give her the money.
Money that he says she is entitled to!

Are these people blind to what's going on around them!? She isn't 'tricking' anyone, as Nick was going to give it to her regardless, probably to get in her good graces. Give her the money!

And I don't know what's wrong with Max today. Schmucks.

What's wrong with Max, Klaus, is the writers can't decide from one day to the next what the characters or the storylines are supposed to be.

Prevuze, I have a fashion question: was Chloe just passing by and this is an inappropriate dress she was wearing or did she wear this inappropriate workout outfit in there? I mean, come on! It looks like all she needs is a pole to dance around. HAHAHA

LOL over "Abe says he's committed to making life better in Salem, but declines to leave town." and poor Ciara wandering around the seedy side of town.

Great Prevuze! Well worth the wait this morning. Thanks. :D

And so should we!

So Bo is the new Commissioner? Why not Roman? I thought Roman was the "acting" Commissioner. Why pass him over?

I agree with Bulldog. The writers don't seem to know what's going on from one day to the next. What little continuity there was has disappeared.

And yes Prevuze, where IS Ciara?
Off being SORASed so she can come back and date "Uncle" Max is my guess.

I bet his favorite QB is Johnny Unitas.

Max — you remember Max, the guy who gave up the love of his life to defend his sister — tells Nick that Melanie is a gold digging tramp and says he needs to fight her if she thinks she's going to get a share of his grant.

Prevuze once again points out that Max is an idiot or is it that Prevuze once again points out that the writers are idiots? That would be a rhetorical question.

EJ clasps her hand, "I came back to save both of you. I'm saving for two now. "

Sure he is. Now if someone could just save all of us from this idiotic storyline, I would be most grateful. First of all, Nicole wouldn’t still be cooling her heals in one of Salem’s holding cells. She’s being accused of a capital offense so she would have been transferred to a county facility. Unless a corrections officer is giving Bo updates on Nicole, there is no possible way he could have known she was in the infirmary. All of this silliness is just pure unadulterated filler. It boggles the mind to think there is a creative team at DOOL that actually thought this was entertaining. Geez.

Thanks for the Hump Day update Prevuze. You are always creative and extremely entertaining!!

"It's pretty common. Parts of myself are scattered everywhere.

Hah! That line cracked me up, as inappropriate as it may be.

I liked the whole dynamic between Nicole and the B!tch-Ho'z. Where's Pooky when you need a guard dog?

Peace.

I so agree this show has totally gone down the tubes. You would think they could come up with a story line and follow it to its end and conclude. There is never a conclusion. They couldn't find it with both hands and a magnifing glass. They just drag it out to no conclusion, or they drop the story, and never mention it again.i.e Kate and Stephano. How are we the viewers suppose to watch and enjoy when the writers don't have a freakin' clue what they are doing and where this story will take them.
Prevuze you are our only hope. Without you this show would be unbearable. At least there is
p l e n t y of material for you to work with. Thanks for taking the bullet.c

Spoiler:

Nick is Trent's killer. That is why he is drinking and taking pills. He wants Melanie to run away with him. So if this is true, both Nick and Chelsea will have killed two people each on DOOL. Nick would have had to been protecting Melanie from Trent. He is not a cold-blooded killer, imo. Could be interesting to see how the writers wrap this storyline up. I was hoping Melanie did it and they would make her leave the show. I don't know of anyone who likes her at all. Spoilers say she celebrates her 18th birthday soon.

Has anyone else noticed that Kate's cough mysteriously disappeared when she was diagnosed with lung cancer? Why bother giving her chemo when a diagnosis is a cure?

Thanks, Prevuze, for making the drivel that is DrOOL interesting!

Sami will soon tell Rafe that she is pregnant. She makes a phone call to Lucas even though she is not supposed to call anyone.

What's up with Judge Fitzpatrick not doing what EJ wanted her to do about Nicole? She is on the DiMera payroll. A spoiler says Nicole thinks EJ set her up. Soon they will be making love again though, so she gets out of jail soon.

Lexie soon gets jealous of Chelsea because Chelsea is the only person who can calm Theo down.

So many stupid plot points, so little space to list them.

I'll go with the first one that pops into my mind (that hasn't already been mentioned). If Bo is so hot and happy to be the police commissioner, why did he turn it down with the ex-mayor offered it to him?

This is followed closely by one of my HUH?! moments today:

[Philip]...says he intended to give his approval, but then looked at Nick's proposal. Philip wants Nick to run more tests.

When did Philip get a degree in molecular engineering? How would he know, just from looking at the proposal, that it needed more work?

LOL at "I've seen that look before," says Roman, "His shorts are too tight. "

and

…City Hall needs some housecleaning. "Great idea," says Roman, "Bo would make a much better janitor than commissioner."

AMEN! Hope has certainly gotten him trained for those menial tasks.

And did it seem strange to anyone that when Evan announced Abe had won the election it was still light outside the pub? Either they decided he'd won before the polls even closed; the polls close in Salem about 5:00 p.m.; or Salem is in an alternate universe where the sun is still shining at 7:30-8:00 p.m. in November.

Rant over. Thanks for the post-election laughs Prevuze.

Paula, I noticed that Kate is no longer coughing several weeks ago. I guess it was just so she could cough up that blood that one time on DOOL. Like everything else on DOOL, there is no continuity on anything, and rarely any real closure.
