The 'Dumb Card'

Kayla comes in to see Bo. She resists the urge to snatch one of his kidneys and walks over to check his machines. Hope wakes up and kisses Bo. She asks if there is any news on a donor.

Lexie and Dr. Jonas work in the lab. The pressure has gotten to Lexie. She fumbles around and drops a file. When Jonas tries to help her pick things up she snaps like a dry twig and tells him he should have suggested this procedure earlier because they are running out of time. Daniel says, "If whatever is affecting Bo's pancreas doesn't kill him first, this procedure might."

Marlena and Dr. Berman plan a fundraising event for the little children. Marlena sees John and a stranger walk in. Berman is amazed John is still alive.

Stephanie finds Patch in the hospital. She's so distraught about Bo she just had to run out and have her hair frosted. Their conversation about Bo is a downer and she tells Patch she ditched her guard.

Nick meets Max at the docks, "How's it going?"

"Living the dream," says Max. Nick is there to ask if they are still good buddies. Max wonders why he would ask something like that since they've never been good buddies before this.

Nick chuckles, "For a minute there it kinda seemed like you were trying to ruin my career."

Max asks, "Now, why the hell would I want to do that? I'm still working on ruining my own."

Max is down on himself for having to work such a low-life job, if he ever would actually do any work, that is. Nick says, "All work has dignity and value."

Max asks, "Even working as a second rate actor on a second rate soap opera?"

"I wouldn't go that far," says Nick.

Chelsea joins the crowd in Bo's room. He tells her not to worry, "The best doctors in the world are working on this case. Kayla and Lexie too." Chelsea decides it's time to leave after such a lengthy visit. Bo tells Hope he's glad he got to say goodbye to everyone. Hope tells him not to go there.

Lexie has come unglued, but remains professional, if her profession is a WWF wrestler, that is. She breaks down. In a professional way, of course. Daniel comforts her and she straightens up and thanks him. Abe watches, but doesn't really react. He's used to seeing her in the arms of other men.

Nick and Max talk about what Nick has and what Max used to have. Nick asks about Max' plans. Max has no idea what he's going to do.

Patch lectures Stephanie for ditching the guard. He gets a call, "Yeah, I know. She's standing right here with me. That's right. She's here. AND YOU'RE FIRED!" Stephanie can't believe he did that. She tells him to take care of Kayla instead of her.

Automa-John sizes up Dr. Berman and drones, "So, you were the physician who signed my death certificate?" Berman drags out a lawsuit release form, hands it to John and heads for the hills. As he leaves he offers to shake hands with John. John stands there like a post.

John introduces Paul Hollingsworth. "I already know who he is," says Marlena, "I'm not sure... he may be one of my former husbands. It's easy to lose track, you know." She wants to know what John is up to. He invites her to breakfast with them to find out.

Abe joins Lexie and the miracle worker. They talk about their relentless search for a donor. "Modern medicine is amazing," says Abe.

"I plan to study that some day," says Lexie. Jonas leaves. Abe wonders if Lexie should step away and get a fresh perspective. "I can't do that," says Lexie, "It would be too sensible."

Patch gives Stephanie a pass – no guard. She thinks that was too easy. He promises multiple checkup calls and asks about Max. She thinks they are good and says she is going to go surprise him right now.

Stephanie leaves. Patch makes a call and asks for another guard, "Do you have someone who can stay with her? Get on it." He hangs up, "Sorry baby. Can't take any chances."

John and Hollingsworth talk shipping as Marlena listens. John asks if Hollingsworth has ever delayed a shipment on purpose. Hollingsworth says no and cuts the meeting short. He leaves. John smiles like the Cheshire Cat. Marlena thinks John wants Hollingsworth to delay Victor's shipments in favor of his. Marlena reminds him Victor used to be his father-in-law. John claims this is just business, "Don't you want me to be a good businessman?"

Hope and Kayla nag Bo about not giving up. In case the disease doesn't kill him, their backup plan is to badger him to death. Bo knows the truth. He doesn't want to leave Hope, but things don't look good. She knows he won't let them down.

Nick and Max continue their conversation. Nick thinks at least something good came out of Max' summer of vice and corruption – Stephanie. On cue, Stephanie and Chelsea join the duo.

Kayla tells Bo there is no change, but thinks that is a good thing. She smooches Bo on her way to find Lexie and Dr. Jonas.

"You know you're sick when your sister kisses you like that," says Bo.

Kayla leaves. Bo and Hope talk about "us." "I don't know what I'd do," says Bo, "if the situation were reversed – If it were you in this bed."

You'd probably jump in with me," says Hope.

Patch meets Kayla. He cops a feel and orders her to take some time off.

John insists he isn't undermining a competitor. "Don't play the 'dumb card' with me," scolds Marlena, "You tell people you're just an empty robot. I don't know who you are, but I know you're smarter than you let on. Your behavior frightens the hell out of me."

John says, "Well, consider us even. Sometimes you scare the hell out of me also."

Marlena wrinkles her brow, "How so?"

"I can't quite put my finger on it," says John, "For some reason, you have the look of a serial killer."

Marlena whines at John because he won't even try to get to know her. He wonders how he can be someone he isn't. He suggests she pretend the real John actually died. Marlena hopes he will rethink all this. She storms off.

John shrugs, "Eh, can't win 'em all."

Marlena calls Phillip and asks to talk, "I have to warn you about something."

Abe plays his trump card – Theo. He suggests Lexie go pick him up. Lexie isn't going anywhere until they find a donor. She thinks working on this might will make up for some of the terrible things her father has done, "After that, I'll start making up for some of the terrible things I have done."

Abe says he will bring Theo by to see her after school, "I'm headed to the university to pick him up now."

Kayla tells Patch she can't leave. "We aren't going that far away," says Patch.

"What do you have in mind," asks Kayla. Jonas interrupts. Patch appeals to him to get Kayla to take a break. Jonas encourages her to go with Patch.

Patch and Kayla head down the dusty trail. In the distance we hear Kayla say, "Why do I feel like I've been railroaded?"

"Because you have been," says Patch.

Stephanie hands Max a bag of chowdah from the pub. Goop oozes out of the bag. Stephanie says, "Next time I'll bring a bowl." Max appreciates this but reminds her she is in college and has a lot going for her while he, on the other hand, is the scum of the earth loading ships at the dock. Stephanie whines, "Are you breaking up with me?"

"You can do better," says Max.

"Than you," she asks, "Don't ever talk like that. The truth is so painful." She won't let him break up. They talk about Bo. No change.

"My parents could use some good news too," says Stephanie.

"What's wrong with your parents," gasps Max.

"Where do I start," asks Stephanie, "It's a high risk pregnancy. I can't talk about the rest of it."

Chelsea interrupts and announces she's going for coffee. Stephanie decides to go instead. Stephanie takes off as Nick shows Chelsea a problem with her calculations. What she's supposed to be calculating is anybody's guess, but it moves them away from Max, who takes the opportunity to rummage through Nick's knapsack.

God knows when, but Patch has set up lunch in their room. Kayla is impressed. Kayla impresses easily. "I got herb tea," he announces, "It's good for the baby." Kayla thinks kisses would be good for the baby too. Patch complies. He tells her she has to take care of herself. They have their miracle and Kayla hopes Bo and Hope get their miracle too. "They already got it," says Patch, "They named it Ciara and now they ignore her all the time just like we will." She reminds Patch of all the years he was gone. "I'm not going anywhere," he says.

John's image is superimposed on the screen, "Eh, can't win 'em all."

Nick and Chelsea talk about Bo. Chelsea is bitter about how long it took them to come up with the decision to do the testing. She knows it's dangerous, but wants to be the donor.

Bo and Hope cuddle. They decide when he gets out to make time just for themselves. To hell with Ciara. Bo feels like he doesn't have much time left. Hope don' wanna talk about it. He asks her always to remember how much he loves her. Hope insists he will get better, "You have to be around to teach Ciara how to drive, without mowing down any of her siblings." Bo vows to do background checks on all her boyfriends. Ciara's too.

John snoops. Marlena finds him. She knows he's there to see a customs official and thinks he's going to offer him a bribe. She begs him not to do it. "And if I do," asks John.

"I will turn you in."

"Knock yourself out."

"I'd rather not. I'm still recovering from being knocked out by a door." Marlena tells him if he takes this step he's crossing a line and can't come back.

"What do I have to come back to," asks John.

"Me." John can't cross the line fast enough.

Max erases something in Nick's notebook and shoves it back into his knapsack. Stephanie walks up, "Max, what are you doing?"

John and Marlena maul each other. John pushes her away and turns to go inside. Marlena calls him back. John stares like a deer looking into a pair of headlights and then walks the other way. "Thank God," sighs Marlena.

Patch and Kayla stand on the balcony. She tells Patch she needs to get back to the hospital. Patch needs something else. Suddenly, he's no longer worried about what heavy exertion will do to the baby. It looks like Kayla will have another late-slip in her permanent record.

Chelsea can't stop thinking about Bo. Nick assures her he will be OK and, say it with him, "I am here for you." Hugs.

Hope cries, "You can't leave me. I won't let you." Bo vegetates.

Dang, your stuff is good again today, but I'm disappointed you allowed a copycat image to be posted. Mary Kay (one of the funniest people ever) first submitted a picture of Shawn and Belle with the "Biggest Loser" logo. You gotta tell folks they need to be original or don't let 'em in!

I doubt seriously it was deliberate copying. We publish hundreds of pictures and it's tough to remember them all. We get lots of similar pictures and prefer to believe that "great minds think alike."

"All work has dignity and value."

Max asks, "Even working as a second rate actor on a second rate soap opera?"

"I wouldn't go that far," says Nick.

Ain’t that the truth!!

Stephanie hands Max a bag of chowdah from the pub. Goop oozes out of the bag. Stephanie says, "Next time I'll bring a bowl."

Very funny Prevuze!!

Smarmy John is getting more than a little annoying. When is Stefano coming back? Again, Prevuze has pumped up a frightfully boring installment of DOOL. I think this evening will be a good night to haul out the 1040 and get to work on it.

Since when does Lexie qualify to research genetics? I thought she was a Doctor/Chief of Staff? I would hope that Salem Hospital has a laboratory... unless it closed up when Nick left... LOL!

Speaking of Nick, what EXACTLY is Max doing to Nick's papers? Isn't Nick a professor at 'Salem U'? What in the world would Max KNOW about anything Nick could be working on?

Again, I ask, WHO does Patch call - when he makes his 'demanding requests'? Get a job, Patch... Make yourself useful! LOL!

And is anyone else sickened by Marlena running around chasing after John all of the time - ? We all KNOW how much she loves him - yet he doesn't want to have anything to do with her, right now!
Move on Marlena... (You know the minute she starts getting cozy with someone else John will begin to remember...) LOL!

And finally - Max certainly has become a 'poster-child' for an anti-depressant commercial. He usually is so upbeat and positive... What a total character turn-around... I don't like it at all. I always loved Max as the 'rock of support'. Lately he's LESS than rubble!!!!!LOL!

Great job Prevuze! Thanks for enduring this boring dribble and turning it into a very interesting read. You're GREAT!

I know the new/old writers need to get things back on track, but come on!
I think I liked it better when all the crazy stuff was going on and SL's resolved themselves in a day or so instead of 6 months.

Some quickie spoilers for next week:

Seedy John bribes a U.S. customs official, as he wants all Kiriakis shipments held. Meanwhile, Marlena goes behind his back, to the Kiriakis clan, and warns Phillip!

John then proceeds to humor her …

Chelsea is Bo’s donor! She is nervous about the procedure but goes ahead, motivated by love. Bo undergoes his operation and so far, so good

Kayla has cramps, and so Steve decides not to tell her about Ava’s fatal attraction just yet

Tony and Anna get physical – on the job!

Victor starts therapy.

I still laughed at Alias99's picture. I know I've even asked Prevuze if I could reuse their pics for new ones. I like to think of it as part of DOOL's going green recycling effort. HAHAHAHA

I totally LOL over Stephanie, who when we left her yesterday was racing to the hospital with Patch, stopping to get her hair frosted. As Applecheeks would say, where are the continuity police when you need them?

Great Prevuisms - "John can't cross the line fast enough" and other pictures today. Thanks! :D

Speaking of Stephanie stopping to get her hair frosted, did you ever notice that whenever a character gets a radically different hairstyle or haircut or color, none of the other characters even mention it? They could at least have somebody saying, "Hey, nice haircut" or something, but we're supposed to believe that nobody would even notice. Like when Mimi when from platinum blond to dark brown.

It's sometimes difficult to predict what may or may not happen on DOOL with regard to dialogue like this, but one thing I think you can definitely count on: absolutely no one is going to look at John and say, "Hey, nice haircut."

or when bell went from short hair to the long hair, if I recall correctly she had short hair on the island and shortly after clairs kidnapping she had long hair- poor yet extentions and again no one noticed. hmmmmmm

Speaking of hair I have noticed that at least when it comes to the blondes their hair changes when the go from good to bad.

When Sami is "bad Sami" her hair is white blonde, then when she's "nice Sami" it goes to a more golden blonde.

The opposite was true with Mimi.
The darker her hair got, the more evil she got.

Also with Chelsea when she had blonde highlights she was evil, now that she's nice her hair is all one color.

And the ladies aren't alone in their miracle, instantaneous hair make-overs. I'll never forget when a bearded, long-haired Lucas, dumped Sami at the alter and then appeared in the next scene (about 10 minutes later), totally shaved and shorn.

Loved Prevuze today! Bulldog's Readers Digest cover was a hoot. Bo meeting Ciara was so, so true. Lexi's skills at the microscope and Alias 99's Biggest Loser Couples had me LOL.

Jawn continues to be fabulous. I'm really going to hate it when he recovers his memory!

This afternoon I wish to rant against characters that have irrational (and time wasting) objections to having a bodyguard. In particular I refer to Stephanie, in today's Prevuze, INSISTING Patch not have her followed by a bodyguard.

Let's see - you are still recovering from being RAPED. Some insane person who went so far as to sabotage a plane wants to get rid of you and your mother. And you object to a bodyguard??? I think not. Particularly since I just got a look at the bodyguard in question on today's show and he's a babe.

And Patch - you TELL Kay and Steph what is going on so they know why you want them guarded and why it's important that they be careful. TLTLTLTLTLT

Great Prevuze pics and prevuisms today. Always a pleasure!

Either way Prevuze seems to have fun with John whether he's robo or superspy.

"You have to be around to teach Ciara how to drive", without mowing down any of her siblings.

HAHHHAHHAHA!!! I'm dying laughing!

That's a hit below the belt, but pretty freakin' funny!!

Adding to the sarcasm...
Bo says "AND if I'm not around, your step sister Chelsea will show you how to drive over a bump and never look back."

OH gawd! That's SO bad... but hella funny!

Thanks... and keep crossin' the line, those are the one-liners that crack me up the most!

I always LOL when they try to insist that Nick and Max are/were BFF's. Friends? Sure. Good amigos? Why not.
BFF's? What? Since when??

I mean, I believe Nick had a better relationship with Jeremy over those few days he was hiding than with Max.

RE: Bodyguards. I wouldn't want one either under those circumstances. Stephanie needs one? The rapist is dead and buried, she wasn't on the plane, and no one else has a bodyguard. If he said the real reason for a guard and she 'no' then I'd agree.
