A Dark And Stormy Night

It was a dark and stormy night. Mimi comes home and yells for Shawn. No one is home. Mimi vows, "Nothing is going to spoil our date." Translation: the date is doomed. She lights candles.

Shawn comes home from a hard day of grease-monkeying. He doesn't want to get grease all over Mimi, so he decides to jump in the shower and then jump Mimi, as opposed to doing it the other way around. First, of course, he will guzzle the beer he pops open.

Mimi ain't happy. She wasn't interested in the grease, but she was ready to monkey around. Thunder crashes.

Phillip is preparing an amazing meal for Belle. His leg pain kicks up, pun intended. Phillip screams in pain and collapses.

Billie runs into Frankie outside Jack and Jennifer's house. They wonder where Abby and Chelsea are. Billie is sure they are coming there and will arrive any minute. Billie and Frankie decide to "hang out." Billie is freezing. Frankie pours his special hot cocoa.

"So what are you thinking about, Jack and Jennifer," asks Billie.

Jennifer sleeps. Jack contemplates the pills. He hesitates. Jennifer wakes and asks him to hold her, "I love you so much."

"I love you too," says Jack. He has a Jack-attack. Jennifer says she isn't going anywhere. She says she is trying hard to be strong, "What if this is it? What if that was our last dinner? What if this is our last conversation?"

"The audience will be really happy," says Jack, "I love you so much." Pan to lightning.

"No way were you married to North," says John.

"I am still his wife," says Marlena, "Which means my marriage to you and Roman is invalid."

"Not if we all become Mormons," says John. He wants to know why Alex waited so long to come back. Alex stares.

Alex says they have been through that. The shock of his death led to Marlena's first bout of hysterical amnesia. The most important thing to Alex was for Marlena to be happy. So he walked away. John doesn't buy it, "If you loved her as much as I do, you would have fought for her."

Alex says Marlena's condition is what caused him to study amnesia. He learned there are no easy answers, "Moving too quickly can cause more harm than good. All I have tried to do is help Marlena regain her memory."

John says, "Her memory of you, pal."

Alex says, "And of you, and her family and friends. I want her to have her whole life back. I waited to produce the documentation saying I was her husband because I wanted to wait until she was ready. In order to treat this case of amnesia we had to deal with the last one also." John says Alex is full of it.

Billie tells Frankie she knew Jack was dying, but Jack swore her to secrecy, "At least Jennifer will have someone to take care of her. Jack told me of his plan for you and Jennifer."

"He had no right," says Frankie.

Billie asks, "But you will honor his request won't you?" Frankie stares.

Jack reaches for the pills as Jennifer sleeps. He opens the bottle. Jennifer wakes up and asks him what he is doing. Jack jumps.

As Shawn goes to degrease, Mimi says "So much for our romantic night." Shawn sticks his head out of the bathroom door and asks for a clean towel. Mimi takes it to the door but Shawn isn't there. She goes on in. She pulls back the curtain, sees Shawn in the all-together and turns around. Shawn tugs at her, "Come in with me."

Mimi says, "I don't know..." She gets in and they share a hot kiss.

Phillip writhes in pain. He says it's the old phantom pains coming back to haunt him. This has been happening, but he has kept it from Belle because he didn't want her to worry.

Belle says to Phillip, "You deserve so much more. You deserve so much better, and so does the audience." Hug.

John asks if Alex is on the DiMera's payroll. Alex says he doesn't even know them. He thought by treating Marlena he could reach out and let her know about the great love they once shared, "I hoped somewhere deep down inside she remembered that love." He turns to Marlena, "I know they don't believe me but you know the truth, Marlena. All of your memories were real. If you remember being with all three of us the time is coming when you will have to decide which one you want to be with."

"This is ridiculous," says John.

"Even if she were to choose you," asks Alex.

Alex wants to talk to Marlena alone. Kate takes John onto the terrace. "I'm losing her," says John, "He's manipulated her and packed her head full of lies."

Marlena tells Alex he has made a noble and compassionate case for why he hasn't revealed himself to her. She wants to believe him. Alex says, "There is only one thing I can think of that might convince you." He kisses her.

Frankie knows what Jack wants but says Jack can't just decide two people could fall in love. He cares about Jennifer. He admits to Billie he still loves her, "But if we get back together, it has to be her choice."

Billie says, "You are already in her life."

Frankie asks, "How selfish would it be to use her husband's death for my personal gain?"

Billie says, "Jack has already given you his permission."

"She's his wife," says Frankie, "Not his property. After he has gone she will need time to grieve."

"She will need you," insists Billie.

"I will be there," says Frankie, "But I will not take advantage of her vulnerability. For Jennifer's sake, I hope Jack somehow pulls through this."

Jack says he was just going to take his medication. Pain has no power over him when he is with her.

"Then we will just have to stay together forever," says Jennifer, "We can beat this. Just hang on until they find a cure."

"In that case," says Jack, "I'd better take my pills." Jennifer goes to get him cranberry drink. Jack pours out all the pills, "I'm sorry. Jennifer, I am doing this for you." He contemplates the deadly concoction in his hand.

Mimi and Shawn get it on in the shower. Mimi pops back to reality and says, "Get a life, Mimi." Shawn sticks his head out of the bathroom door and asks for a clean towel. Déjà vu.

Phillip and Belle giggle their way through another scene. Belle takes down a picture of her and Shawn. Her giggling stops. Phillip pours sparkling cider. Phillip makes a toast, "To our future, our family and all the Days Of Our Lives."

Kate can't guarantee John won't lose Marlena, "The evidence suggests they were married. If you are going to fight for her, you will have to acknowledge Alex was her first love." John heads back in but Kate stops him. She thinks if he goes in there it will force Marlena into Alex arms permanently.

Marlena is already there. She gasps and turns. Alex comforts her, "I could have stood here all night telling you how much we love each other."

Marlena says, "Lies can be told. Memories can be implanted."

"Emotions can't," says Alex, "When I kissed you it brought back feelings which had been dormant for decades."

"It felt so natural," says Marlena.

Alex says, "Give me the chance to prove I am the only man you have ever loved."

Jennifer comes outside. She is startled to find Billie and Frankie there, and invites them in out of the cold. They fret about the girls. Jennifer calls Abby's cell phone and leaves a message. Billie and Frankie offer to go look for them. Jack comes down. He announces he has taken his medication, but will go look for the girls. They say he can't go if he just took his meds. Jennifer goes for her coat. Jack tells Frankie and Billie they need to talk.

Phillip and Belle are back to giggling. Phillip has made enough dinner for an army. So, of course, he suggests they invite Shawn and Mimi over. Belle isn't sure, but decides it's OK.

Mimi brings Shawn the towel. She hands it to him. He takes it and shuts the door. Mimi says, "Like I said, so much for our romantic night."

There is a knock at the door. Shawn yells for Mimi to get it, but she conveniently doesn't hear him. Shawn answers dressed in his towel. Belle's eyes pop out of her head. Mimi comes out. Uncomfortable moment. Belle invites them to dinner. Mimi reminds Shawn they already had plans to go out. Shawn says maybe they'd better go to Belle and Phillip's because of the impending doom of the ice storm. He goes to get dressed.

Belle apologizes for ruining their romantic evening. She leaves. Mimi steams and prays, "Please help me get through this, God."

Back in their apartment, Phillip yammers but Belle is distracted.

As they walk over to Phillip and Belle's apartment, Shawn tells Mimi he's sorry he isn't taking her out tonight. He will make it up to her. They arrive at the front door and decide this is a good time to romp a little. Shawn pours it on and they lean into the doorbell. Phillip answers as they go at it. He turns, smiles, and gives Belle the double thumbs up. Belle gives him the double finger.

Marlena asks to talk to John alone. Alex leaves. Kate follows. She says to Alex, "You are really telling the truth, aren't you."

"Yes," says Alex, "every word of it."

"I feel sorry for you," says Kate, "You waited too long. Whatever you had with Marlena is long over."

"I wouldn't be so sure," says Alex, "I have no intention of losing Marlena. And frankly, I think you'd be a fool to give up on John."

John apologizes for flying off the handle. Marlena tells John she needs time to process all this, "I don't want to be rude but I want you and Kate to go. I think I owe Alex the opportunity to talk about my past. He's my husband."

Jack says he's counting on Billie and Frankie to be there for Jennifer after he's gone. Jack rambles and gets weaker. He gets incoherent. Jack talks about next year. Jennifer hears him say that and gets all happy-happy. She and Frankie leave. Jack calls Jennifer back and tells her he loves her, "Never forget that." Jennifer leaves.

Jack staggers, "Saying goodbye was harder than I thought. I never got to say good by to Abigail."

"You can see her in the morning," says Billie.

"No," says Jack, "I took all my pills. Promise me you won't tell anyone." Billie tries to call 911. Jack grabs her then collapses. Billie screams, "Jack! NO!" FF on the dying Jack.

They are setting everyone up to have to go to the hospital or be trapped somewhere in the ice storm

LOL at the "Pal" picture. I'm glad Squints straightened us all out on that. HAHAHAHA

Once again the California-based writers display their absolute ignorance of actual weather out here in the real world. Thunder and lightening in an ICE STORM?? I've heard of the rare occurence of thunder accompanying wet snow storms, but ICE STORMS!?

Of course, this is Salem where the seasons turn on a dime and time has no real meaning. ;-)

Finally, Prevuze faked me out once with a picture of a real baby, leading me to think they were actually going to show one on the show. That turned out to be a false alarm. Is the final picture of the poor, PPD baby a fake as well?? Don't leave me in suspense!

The baby picture is from Marlena's flashback on the episode which will air today. It is a young Marlena holding, I assume, Belle. I don't know if the baby in the scene is a real one or not.
