Ice Cold Hate

Sami and Rafe are together in Sami's living room. Things are pretty quiet, which isn't unusual for Rafe, but is completely out of character for Sami. Finally, Sami breaks the silence (no surprise there), "Rafe... I want us to be together."

Rafe half whispers, "Me too." Rafe once used more than two words in a sentence and they had to rush him to the hospital and give him oxygen. They move in on each other to seal the deal but, of course, a knock at the door interrupts.

Normal people in a... uh... moment of passion... might ignore the knock but Sami wouldn't want to miss any heartbreak or angst or anything, so she gets up and opens it to find, who else, EJ.

EJ comes inside and confesses all, "Samantha, I've made a decision. I love you. I want us to be together for all the Days Of Our Lives. It's Rafe or me. You have to choose and you have to choose now."

Rafe stands up, "That's right, Sami. We can't do it like this any more. You have to choose."

"You're both right," says Sami, "And I have made my decision. I choose..."

Just to extend the suspense a little bit, you must click here for Sami's choice.

You probably saw that coming. Sometimes I wish I had an audience full of people who would fall for things like that, but I guess the DOOL writers are too busy writing garbage to read Prevuze.

Anyway, now that I've TOYED WITH YOU, here's the real story...

Phillip and Melanie are at the Java Café. Melanie compliments him, "I'm proud of you. You found out your father is marrying Vivian, and you haven't driven your car through his living room."

"That's already been done," says Phillip, "I forget, did you ever meet a guy named Shawn Brady?" Suddenly, Phillip realizes his father has never married anyone who hasn't tried to kill someone. Melanie suggests maybe they should adopt. They wonder what Victor is up to. "Why would he marry Vivian," asks Phillip.

Kate walks up and overhears, "What did you just say?"

"It's true," says Phillip, "Father is marrying Vivian."

"No he's not."

Victor plays tycoon on the phone in the den as Vivian rushes in. "I feel just like a girl," she chirps.

"You look like a very old twelve," snarls Victor.

"I love it when you tease me," giggles Vivian. She tells him about telling Phillip about their wedding. That crashing sound you hear is the lead balloon parking itself in the Kiriakis mansion den.

Sami arrives home with Sydney. She says she knows Rafe is responsible for bringing her home, "I should trust him, not your dad who I don't trust at all." Will comes in and asks what happened to Sami's face. Sami tells him Nicole did it. Macho man Will wants to go pay Nicole back but Sami stops him, "I gave as good as I got." Will can't believe they let Nicole out, nor can he believe Anna took Sydney. Sami says Rafe will make sure people pay.

"How," says Will, "Is he going to force them to have a conversation with him?"

Rafe is with Bennie in the interrogation room.

Anna and Carlo do palates or something. "You are incredibly flexible," says Carlo. Anna decides her troubles are in the past. Translation: That must mean she's headed for a brick wall at 90mph. "I took a very big risk," says Anna, "but it paid off. I went down to the casino and, hey... who ever said 'never draw to an inside straight?'"

Nicole and EJ sit bickering at a table in the pub. She wonders if Anna has something on EJ. "No," says EJ. Nicole thinks he's scared about something.

Bennie is on the phone asking his shyster lawyer if he can face capital charges. Rafe plays it cool and rambles about meetings as Bennie's lawyer hangs up on him. Rafe asks if he trusts the guy, "It seems you've been hung out to dry and in the unfortunate situation of having me as a best friend."

"I thought dogs were man's best friend," says Bennie, "But with your IQ, I guess you qualify."*

*Prevuze would like to take this opportunity to apologize to dogs everywhere.

EJ says Nicole is either lying or has lost touch with reality. They argue. Nicole says, "You are scared, and now I just have to figure out why."

"For starters," says EJ, "I'm sitting here with you and you keep eying the service elevator."

Kate vows not to let Victor marry Vivian. Phillip thinks it's hypocritical of Kate to bitch and moan about this since it's her fault, "Father is doing this to pay you back."

Victor scolds Vivian for telling Phillip. He insists Phillip is not her son, "Phillip, Brady, Bo and Daniel are all off limits. Or what you did to Carly will seem like little pranks. Besides we don't know if there will be a wedding." Vivian's jaw drops.

Will thinks Sami seems in a better mood. Sami says she thinks things aren't as bad as she thought. Rafe shows up. So much for things being good.

Nicole starts to leave. EJ reaches across the table, grabs her lapel and pulls her down. Kinzie comes up to the table, gushes and again asks for Nicole's autograph. Nicole says no. Kinzie protests, "But I could sell them online. We'd share the profit, of course..."

EJ interrupts, "SHE SAID NO!"

Kinzie gets nasty, "Look buddy I don't know who you are... oh I do know who you are..." She slowly walks away from the table, "And I thought The Sopranos was nothing but ethnic stereotyping."

EJ turns his attention back to Nicole and says he wants to know everything.

Victor says he will not marry someone who does not respect his relationships. Vivian shucks and jives. Victor leaves as Vivian frets.

Melanie leaves. Phillip isn't giving Kate any sympathy, "I know this is futile, but I'm going to talk to you as if you are a rational adult."

"Your sarcasm," says Kate, "reminds me of your father." Phillip says Vivian will gloat and wonders what would happen if Kate reacted like a grownup.

Nicole has apparently handed EJ some cock 'n bull story. Or the truth. A lot of times on this show they are one and the same. "That's all she told me," says Nicole, "But you're scared of what she didn't tell me." EJ softens and agrees he overreacted. He wonders if Anna and Nicole were working together. Nicole denies. "There isn't a punishment bad enough for what you did to Samantha," says EJ.

Will decides to go to the park with Sydney, "So, you two play nice." He leaves.

Sami wants to play, but ignores the 'nice' part, "Will knew I wanted to be alone with you. I've been thinking..." The thinking stops and the play starts.

Vivian walks into the Java Café. Phillip looks up and sees her, "Let the games begin."

Maggie asks if Melanie is worried about Phillip. "I think he has this crazy parent thing under control," says Melanie. Victor shows up at the door and says he came to see Maggie.

Nicole thinks things have changed, what with EJ worrying about Sami, "What's going on EJ? I think you're up to something."

"I'm repairing the damage you and Anna did," says EJ. She reminds him he was happy when they were together and says he will never be that happy again, "And you know what... I'm glad. Because the love I had for you then is now ice cold hate."

EJ looks at her face and asks, "Tell me, did you bump into a door, or a couple of doors... or an old friend?"

"You stay away from me," she threatens, "Or I may have to tell agent Hernandez there is more to the Anna and Nicole story than meets the eye." Nicole walks out.

EJ gets a call. He looks at the caller-ID and slams his phone down on the table, "Damn! I've gone over my maximum minutes again."

Sami and Rafe play on the couch, but Rafe sits on a squeaky toy and that distracts him. Shiny objects, squeaky toys... that's all it takes to shut down Rafe's mind. He figures he'd better get back to the police station. Sami stops him and asks to talk.

"You said we were on a break," says Rafe.

I don't want a break," says Sami, "I want us to be together."

Kate and Vivian stand face to face. The clock reads one minute to twelve. Do Not Forsake Me O My Darlin' plays in the background. Kate tells Vivian not to get her hopes up, "In this state, in order to get married you need a blood test, and you don't have any blood. Phillip sees through you."

Vivian starts to defend herself, "My son..."

Kate stops her cold, "I told you never to call him your son again!"

Maggie asks for a minute alone with Victor. Melanie leaves. Victor is cheerful, "How have you been, Maggie?"

'Cheerful' doesn't exactly describe Maggie, "Can it, Victor. Let's nip this 'How-are-you-Maggie' thing in the bud. You came here to get my help with Phillip. I'm not sure his turning his back on you isn't the thing to do." Victor apologizes for seeming manipulative. Maggie says she won't help him.

"I Hope we can still be friends," says Victor.

"We're friends," asks Maggie, "Well, maybe I Hope we are." She asks about him marrying Vivian and says she wouldn't want to miss that.

EJ is on the phone with Anna and tells her they arrested Bennie. Anna smiles, "But I'm OK... You're not. If Bennie spills that's your problem. Oh, the tea is arrived. I have to go. I'm having a love affair with clotted cream."

Sami asks, "We love each other, right?" Rafe gives her the vapid look of a deer staring into the headlights.

Nicole finds Will and Sydney at the pier.

Kate threatens Vivian. Phillip walks out without them noticing. Vivian says she wants Kate at the wedding, "I want you to watch as Victor and I become man and wife." Kate predicts the wedding will never happen.

Melanie finds Phillip outside. He wants to go home. Melanie has a better idea.

Maggie suggests to smooth things over with Phillip Victor should not marry Vivian, "People should not have to get over their parents marrying murderers."

Nicole asks Will not to go, "I just want to say goodbye."

We have a closeup of a shirt, with the monogram, "EJD." Then we pan back to see Sami and Rafe sitting in her living room. Rafe says he isn't sure. Sami whines, "I love you and you love me and that's what matters."

Laconic Rafe asks, "Is it?"

Melanie and Phillip walk into a hotel room. Melanie says, "It's not beaches in Greece or hotels in France..."

"It's perfect," says Phillip, "The Internet cameras are already set up." He grabs her and once again we let the games begin.

Victor says he doesn't have a choice marrying Vivian, "I think it would be the best thing for my family."

"I don't know what tortured logic leads you to that conclusion," says Mags.

"I can't tell you," says Victor. Maggie says she understands but doesn't think he should marry Vivian. Victor brings up Mickey, "I always said he was the luckiest guy in town. He was lucky not to have a woman scheming to get his money."

"If he would have had any, I'd have schemed," says Maggie, "Hey, maybe you and Vivian actually will find happiness together."

They both let out a belly laugh. "Nice try," says Victor, "At least I'm glad Phillip and Melanie are with you.

Maggie says, "You could be a decent man, Victor, if you weren't you."

Kate and Vivian suddenly notice Phillip has left. Kate huffs out.

Sami insists love is enough, "We have Sydney back so now we can be happy. It's our turn now." Rafe asks what happens when they hit another rough patch.

"Simple," says Sami, "Same thing as always. I explode and you brood. Why are you angry?"

"I'm not angry," says Rafe, "I'm sad."

"With you, all emotions look the same," says Sami, "You're sad because we're not together. I want us to be together. I want us to be a family."

Nicole stoops and says goodbye to Sydney.

Sydney whines, "Mama."

"I'm sorry for what I put you through," says Nicole, "I'm not your mama and never will be again."

Phillip and Melanie are in bed. Melanie says she knows this isn't the honeymoon he wanted. Phillip insists it is, "It's perfect. Well... almost perfect. It would be perfect if you were Belle."

Vivian rushes into the Kiriakis Den. She pours a drink and acts like she's relaxing on the couch. Victor comes in and she asks if he's still mad. Victor says most of his problems with Phillip are of his own making and he wants her to stay clear. He figures the wedding is still on. Vivian goes into wedding overload. Victor says it's just a business arrangement. Vivian vows to devote herself to making him happy. Victor rolls his eyes, "Oh, God, what have I done?"

God booms, "You got yourself into this, you get yourself out of it."

Will says he has to go. Nicole asks for a few more minutes, "We need a little filler since we didn't have a full hour of material today." She turns to Sydney, "You have a mommy who loves you very much. You don't need me but I will never forget you." She gets up and leaves.

Sami and Rafe hold hands. "I love you," says Rafe...

"BUT"

"I don't know if we have the same idea of what love means. Love means you don't have to take breaks. Love means you don't have to keep secrets. Love means never having to say you're sorry."

Rafe turns and stares at the 'EJD' monogram. He decides he has to leave, "I'll see you around." Outside, Rafe stares. Inside... tears.

EJ is outside the pub confirming things on the phone.

Anna gets a massage. "Ohhhhh... oh, yessssss!!" The masseuse's fingers leave her back and a new set of fingers takes over. More massaging... "Ohhhhh... oh, yessssss!!" Suddenly Anna frowns, "OWWWW! That hurts!"

We pan up to see Stefano, "Really? That's nothing compared to what is coming."

Ancient papyrus scrolls dating to the first century found with the headline, "Is it over for Bo and Hope?"

The best thing about being a Prevuzite is that I don’t have to watch the garbage written by the DOOL writers.

Sami says Rafe will make sure people pay.

"How," says Will, "Is he going to force them to have a conversation with him?"

That would be a fate worse than death.

"I thought dogs were man's best friend," says Bennie, "But with your IQ, I guess you qualify."*

*Prevuze would like to take this opportunity to apologize to dogs everywhere.

I hope Prevuze made a personal apology to Killer!

Nicole says, "You are scared, and now I just have to figure out why."

"For starters," says EJ, "I'm sitting here with you and you keep eying the service elevator."

LOL!!!!!

“Oh, the tea is arrived. I have to go. I'm having a love affair with clotted cream."

…and Carlo the cabana boy.

"I don't know what tortured logic leads you to that conclusion," says Mags.

I’m with Mags on that one. I can’t figure out why Victor thinks marrying Vivian is the best thing for his family. For starters, Phillip can’t stand her.

Rafe turns and stares at the 'EJD' monogram. He decides he has to leave, "I'll see you around."

Ouch!!! Apparently, Rafe just isn’t that into pathetic, needy, groveling Sami.

We pan up to see Stefano, "Really? That's nothing compared to what is coming."

Goodie!! Stefano is going to beat the Rafester to the punch by getting Anna to cave and out EJ. I was wondering just how EJ was going to avoid time in the slammer. If Daddy dearest could protect Kate, it should be a snap for Stefano to cover EJ’s tracks. Gotta love the grumpy old guys. What would DOOL be without Stefano and Victor?

Gotta love Prevuze too!!! Happy April Fool’s Day everyone!!

Sami chooses, Lucas the April Fool.

Would anyone have believed DAYS would let Lucas go for a man who puts most of the audience asleep?

DAYS certainly lost out on that deal.

Why do I get the feeling Days let Lucas go for a character whose salary isn't as big?

I'm not much of a fan of Sami and Lucas as a couple, but they were fantastic together when they weren't a couple. They played off each other so well. It baffles my mind why the would ditch Lucas for Rafe. maggie Mae, I'm right there with you. I can't watch Rafe without FF-ing. He is so dull.

I couldn't agree with you more. Due to salary cap limitations, Lucas was traded for Rafe and two characters to be named later. DOOL traded down from a well-acted character with lots of history to a character completely devoid of depth or interest. To be fair, the actor hasn't had much to work with and it shows.

Who at DOOL, was looking at the writing and acting on Passions, just as it was being canceled, and said, "I want the writing and acting from this show!"

Are we sure this is April Fools Day? With all the double comments... kind of feels like Groundhog Day.

I'm that one lone audience member left in the Safe section. HA I like Rafe.

Is that really Stefano with Anna or is she going to snap out of another daymare?

And did zillionaire Phillip actually take Melanie to a semi-decent hotel this time or are they in Salem's finest roach motel?

One of my biggest laughs today came from Victor - "You look like a very old twelve."

Also Do Not Forsake Me O My Darlin' and "It's perfect. Well...almost perfect. It would be perfect if you were Belle." Or Chloe or Steponme or any of the other absolute you-are-the-love-of-my-life gals Phillip has been in love with.

Great pictures and recap today. Thanks, Prev! And don't fall for any April Fool jokes.

And you stick to your guns, dammit. This is America (well, if you're in the US) where we are free to support the couple of our choice. It's guaranteed in the Constitution that we are granted the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of dysfunctionalism. Or is it the Declaration of Independence... actually I think it's from the lifetime warranty on any set of Crapsman Tools you buy.

But that's not what I was going to respond to in the first place. I just got caught up in that uber-patriotic moment.

And did zillionaire Phillip actually take Melanie to a semi-decent hotel this time or are they in Salem's finest roach motel?

First, I think Melanie took him. She just seems to have this thing that she's not comfortable with sex unless it's in a sleazy hotel room, hourly rates preferred. Second, when they opened the door and turned on the lights, something scattered, but I'm not sure what it was. It might have been roaches, but just as likely it was fleas scampering out of a bag.

I like Rafe, but I think EJ & Sami should be together. Rafe is a good FBI agent, and with all the crooks in Salem he's bound to be needed at the SPD. Rafe works well with Roman, and I'm sure Sami with her knack for getting into touble, will need them in her corner. I used to like Bo, but he's turned Carbo and that turns me off completely. Yuck!!!

And did I read correctly...did Rafe actually say to Sami something like "love means that you don't have to take breaks"? Hello!!! It was him running out on her every time that caused their "breaks"! Shall we say hypocrite!?!
