She's Sweet But Intensely Annoying

Arianna walks into the Horton cabin and surveys the place. Brady walks in behind her. They share a moment of confusion as Melanie walks in, "Anybody ready for some fireworks on the beach?" I don't think we'll need to go to the beach to see the fireworks.

Nicole comes into the rumpus room and dumps Sydney. She leaves and Sydney cowers in fear.

Chad serves EJ at the Java Café. EJ takes the stuff over to the table and gives it to Johnny, who guzzles his venti vanilla latte.

Sami stares at her computer and contemplates the fact Emily died the day of her wedding, "Odd... on my wedding day it's usually the weddings themselves that die." Rafe walks in and Sami slams the computer lid. Rafe is coming back from a run and says he's there to check on Sami. The blood drains from Sami's face and Rafe says he senses something is wrong. They don't come any sharper than ole Rafe.

Nicole comes back into the rumpus room and finds Sydney missing. Panic sets in as she screams for Mary.

Rafe asks when Nicole might bring Johnny over again. Sami says its freaking her out EJ might find out. Rafe assures her the court won't grant EJ custody of Johnny. He goes for a shower. Sami sticks Emily's memorial card back in his wallet as will walks in with the only line he has ever had on this show, "Mom, what are you doing?"

Mary calls to report a missing baby. Stefano dances in bouncing Sydney in his arms. Oh, the relief! Nicole blows her stack.

Mia heads out of Maggie's kitchen for work as Nathan arrives. He's back from seeing Alice. "I knew you were there," says Maggie, "You can't move in this town without my spies spotting you. I want you to know Alice called me and said she thinks you're the bees knees. That's high praise coming from her."

Nathan hands Maggie a medical bag Alice gave him. "Oh," squeals Maggie, "She gave you Tom's medical bag. I'm glad."

Nathan pouts, "I'm not."

Sami and Will share an uncomfortable moment. He asks about the wallet and Sami tells him she was going for cash. Will doesn't buy it, "Grace is gone... Allie is gone... Johnny is gone.... Michael is gone... Sarah is gone... And now I'm gone. You can't trust Rafe, so who do you have left?"

"The laughing penguin?"

Sarah quit and Michael is gone but Prevuze, like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps going... and going... and going...

Nicole apologizes for losing it. Stefano tells her he owns her and Sydney. Nicole is indignant, "The more I live here I understand why Sami..."

"Say it," says barks Stefano, "...that she kept her child from Elvis. You don't want your child to be raised a DiMera? She is. She's my blood, not yours."

Back at the cabin, Brady rants at Melanie for trying to fix him up with Arianna. Melanie insists there was no matchmaking, "Shall we start summer-izing?"

Arianna decides this doesn't work for her and starts to leave. Melanie tells her the ferry isn't running until this evening.

Chad comes up to Mia at the Java Café. He announces he's working there. Mia freaks.

EJ joins the rumpusers. Johnny is outside playing with his new pet rattlesnake.

Sami insists she trusts Rafe. Rafe strolls out half naked and Will bolts. Rafe finds his open wallet, "Luuuuccccyyyy, what have you done now?"

Brady and Arianna both rant at Melanie because they think she knew beforehand the ferry wasn't running. Melanie tells them just to knock it off and get to work.

Nathan says he isn't sure he can live up to Dr. Tom's standards, "People think a medical degree automatically makes you competent."

"Not after they've met you," says Maggie.

Mia says she doesn't want to work with Chad. Chad says he just wants to be friends. "I don't want to be your friend," says Mia, "I've changed."

Chad defends himself, "I just didn't get a chance to say goodbye."

"What," snorts Mia, "They don't have phones at reform school.

"Military school," says Chad, "The problem wasn't me. My parents didn't want it. I thought about you. Every day. Every minute. What? you didn't think about me?"

"No," she lies, "I didn't."

Rafe badgers Sami. Sami works damage control. She says she can't bear the fact that he's keeping something from her that's important to him. "If it's to important to you, how can I not care about that? Your past is a part of you. I thought our relationship was deeper than this. I guess I don't know you very well at all."

EJ says, "Johnny told me you and he share a secret." Nicole hems and haws and says it's probably that she blurted out something about Sami in front of him, "I think I said that she is an impossible person."

"That's no secret," says EJ.

Nicole says she felt bad for saying that and asked Johnny not to repeat it. She apologizes. EJ understands. He goes to check on Johnny and the snake.

Stefano lectures, "You would not be foolish enough to lie to my son again, now would you?"

Nicole doesn't even have to think that one over, "If he ever gets a clue I wouldn't."

Mia admits she's thought of Chad. Chad follows her around the room like a lost puppy as she tries to ditch him. He says he's glad he found her. Mia flashes back to a moment with Chad at school. Chad asks her to the winter formal. Mia pops back and tells him not to bother her. "So," asks Chad, "see you tomorrow?" He walks out as Will walks in.

Will asks Mia what's up. She says she can't talk right now.

Stefano reminds Nicole her loyalties lie with the DiMeras. Nicole says she's worried Rafe will figure things out.

Rafe plays the strong silent type. He thinks Sami doesn't trust him. Sami says since he's with her, they will come after him during the custody hearing, "Is there a chance I could lose custody of Johnny because of one of your secrets?"

Arianna is apparently out building a boat so she doesn't have to wait for the ferry. Buff, shirtless Brady and Melanie sit in the Horton cabin alone. Brady asks Melanie what she thought she was doing at the cabin today. She says she's decided it feels good doing something for someone else. Brady is direct, "I'm glad you're making progress on becoming a human being but butt out."

Arianna comes back in. she steps up onto a chair, reaches for a light to dust it and, of course, falls into Brady's arms.

Maggie drags out her "living up to expectations speech." Nathan somehow endures it as Maggie extols St. Tom, "There was not a grandiose bone in his body. Your mom was pregnant with you at his funeral. We hadn't even figured out who the father was yet." Nathan thinks it's hard living up to Tom's legacy. Maggie tells him to take that pressure off himself, "Carve your own way and you will make tom very proud."

Stefano tells Nicole he will take care of Rafe. EJ comes back in, "Johnny got tired of the snake so I'm letting him play with my power tools." He asks for a quick word with Nicole alone.

Sami pries. Rafe says he'll tell her everything she wants to know and then she'll be sorry.

Brady sets Arianna down. Melanie claims innocence in the whole matter. She goes back to work and bends down beneath the table to pick something up. Arianna scoots a pail of grungewater along the table until it finally dumps all over Melanie, "Oops."

Maggie tells Nathan Melanie is taking care of the cabin and they've been "disinvited." Maggie is sure he will smooth things over with Melanie.

EJ sits Nicole down and tells her he has been hard to be around lately. He knows they haven't been on a honeymoon. Nicole says Johnny comes first. EJ wants to show her how grateful he is. He hands her a little box. She opens it and finds a locket. Inside she finds a picture of Sydney and Johnny. They share a hug, each giving a thousand-yard stare over the other's shoulder.

Rafe says Emily was the love of his life and she died the day they were to be married. Sami wonders why he didn't just tell her that in the first place. She digs for more. Rafe clams up.

The stinky pail of water dumps all over Melanie, who has a conniption and goes to take a shower. Brady glances at Arianna, "Remind me not to mess around with you."

"She had it coming," says Arianna, "She's sweet but intensely annoying. Without the sweet part." Things thaw between Arianna and Brady. "We don't have to be uncomfortable around each other," says Brady, "I... uh... like you."

"And I," says Arianna, "...like you."

Melanie showers. Nathan comes up and gets an eyeful. Melanie screams and... would jump out of her socks if she were wearing any.

Prevuze

Chad returns to the Java Café because he forgot his keys. He sees Will, looks at Mia and puts two and two together, "Why didn't you tell me? This is the reason you've been blowing me off."

Will is confused, "I'm sorry, who are you?"

Chad says, "I'm her boyfriend."

Prevuze

Sami tells Rafe she's sorry for his loss, "I love you. I don't know what I would do without you."

Out in the audience, one gal thinks, "Of course you know what you'd do. You'd run to Lucas."

On the other side of the audience, another gal thinks, "Of course you know what you'd do. You'd run to EJ."

We'll let you decide which side each is on.

I love you too," says Rafe.

Stefano is on the phone asking about Rafe and Emily, "AHA! So that's what happened."

EJ and Nicole continue to share their tender moment. As things heat up, Johnny calls. EJ leaves to take care of him. Nicole stares and frets. She walks over and picks up Johnny's picture and makes a call. EJ walks into the room. Nicole says, "Sami... It's Nicole. We need to talk about Johnny." EJ stands behind her with his arms folded across his chest like Mr. Clean.

A hot sexy Mr Clean at that ;)

I get a sick feeling that DOOL is going to be making us suffer through another Summer of Romance with the young "Teen" set again. Could it get more boring?

I guess the answer to that is Yes, Yes it can.

Summer of teen romance used to be a honest show´s attempt to lure in some new viewers. Now it´s an economical necessity. So yes, the feeling is right. Of course, on the show where Stephanie, Melanie, Nathan and co. are considered to be adult lead characters the difference is not so blatant.

What is it with these writers? When Lucas was orbiting Sami, he was written as impossibly stupid. Now it’s Rafe. Maybe a relationship with Sami sucks all the brain cells out of men.

Mary calls to report a missing baby. Stefano dances in bouncing Sydney in his arms. Oh, the relief! Nicole blows her stack.

For heaven’s sake, you would think Nicole or Mary would have tracked down Stefano before panicking. It’s hardly a capital offense for a baby’s grandfather to be spending time with his grandchild.

Sarah quit and Michael is gone but Prevuze, like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps going... and going... and going...

…and the faithful are ever thankful to the soap gods for that!

“You don't want your child to be raised a DiMera? She is. She's my blood, not yours."

At least Stefano is being accurate.

EJ joins the rumpusers. Johnny is outside playing with his new pet rattlesnake.

Well I’m now choking on the water I was drinking.

"People think a medical degree automatically makes you competent."

"Not after they've met you," says Maggie.

…or Daniel or Lexia or Kayla or Marlene or any doctor on the staff at Salem University Hospital.

Arianna scoots a pail of grungewater along the table until it finally dumps all over Melanie, "Oops."

Finally must see TV!

Stefano is on to Rafe, and it appears that EJ has discarded his ear plugs and might actually be getting a clue about Nicole. I think I sense some movement in the never ending baby switch story line. I just hope the movement is not a snail’s pace. Speaking of movement, Sami is racing head first into a relationship with Rafe. Has she already forgotten that Grace died a couple of week ago? She hardly appears to be very grief stricken.

Thanks for the great Monday morning update and photos Prevuze!!

Today's US DOOL looks like a total bore, but tomorrow seems to have a couple scenes I wouldn't mind seeing! Unfortunately we now get to wait and find out if it'll be preempted for Michael's funeral.......

Well I’m now choking on the water I was drinking.

I must have some DiMera genes in me somewhere. I have no objection at all to a little light torture. In fact, it often makes my day. :)

It takes a cleaning crew to spiff up the cabin. Just how filthy were Chloe and Luclueless anyway??

Why doesn't Mia just ask the boss if there's any way she could have different days or schedules than Chad? At least it would minimize the time there together. But, I forget...this is Daze. We couldn't have the summer hijinx if she did that.

And I think if I had a teen with a 'tude like Will, who blasted me with "What are you doing NOW?" every time he walked into the room he'd be looking for someplace else to live. Ah, but then we couldn't have the summer hijinx if she booted him out.

LOL over "Your mom was pregnant with you at his funeral. We hadn't even figured out who the father was yet." And EJ's pregnancy picture. HAHAHA

Great way to start the week, Prevuze! Let's hope despite the fact NBC is now going to show the funeral tomorrow (in case you can't find it on one of the 10,000 other stations) they still go ahead and show Days. If not we can always count on you!

Johnny, who guzzles his venti vanilla latte.

There’s a young man with good taste!

Rafe walks in and Sami slams the computer lid.

I’d suggest Sami wait until Rafe goes to work before she hits the computer, but since he apparently has one of those Salem-jobs where you don’t actually need to show up……

Mia heads out of Maggie's kitchen for work as Nathan arrives. He's back from seeing Alice.

Ah shoot! After reading Prevuze Previews this morning I thought maybe the actress was feeling up to actually being in the show today.

Here’s a HUH?! moment for you, especially coming from a teenager:
[Will] asks about the wallet and Sami tells him she was going for cash. Will doesn't buy it.

Why not? Isn’t that what you usually sneak into someone’s wallet to get?

Yet another, HUH?!:
Arianna…starts to leave. Melanie tells her the ferry isn't running until this evening.

Then how did folks just come & go as they pleased when Chlocluless were staying there?

Loved EJ's picture and Daniel's call for electric paddles. As usual Prevuze got me going this morning. And, not a moment too soon. First day back after a week away and I thought I'd never get a chance to sneak in my Prevuze fix!!

Happy Monday.

Michael Jackon's death is getting almost as much exposure as Princess Di's passing, and her untimely death overshadowed a the death of a woman who lived a saintly life. Perhaps Bernie Taupin has once again updated the lyrics of "Candle in the Wind", and Elton John will be singing at the service. To be as kind as possible, Michael Jackson was "unique" and his death was shocking. There are those who loved him and many others who vilified him so what's the point in televising the memorial service? I don't get it.
