The Ass End Of Nowhere

Max, Stephanie and Melanie have a confab in the cop shop. Max continues to claim innocence as Stephanie and Melanie bicker. Part of Max hopes he gets arrested so he can take the rap for his mom, and part of him hopes he gets arrested so he can get away from these two gasbags.

Phillip joins Nicole at Chez Rouge. Nicole asks, "Where's your sweet southern squeeze?" Phillip tells her where Morgan went. Nicole says, "So Morgan's in Chicago. Where does that leave you?"

Phillip says, "Plenty of free time, baby." Nicole asks if he's over Chloe. Phillip shrugs it off but Nicole doesn't buy it.

Prevuze

A doctor tells Kate she's better. Daniel walks in as Kate yanks out all her tubes and prepares to leave.

Nick moans in his jail cell as Mr. Hangover pays him a visit. Hope walks in. Nick prays for the time when his only problem was a hangover. "I'm here as a friend," says Hope, "And a gossip." Nick wants out. "It's not that simple," says Hope.

Bo tells Max he's free to go. It doesn't look so good for Caroline, though. As they talk Melanie sneaks over and puts Trent's wallet into Stephanie's purse.

Abe and Lexie take Theo to the park where they will dump him on a babysitter. Lacey comes up and Theo clams up. Mommy and Daddy head for a meeting as Theo plays with his new toy giraffe.

Max is upset that his mother is about to stand trial for murder. Bo promises to find the real killer. "There are plenty of suspects out there," says Bo, "Damned if we'll be able to find them, though."

Hope grills Nick. Nick says, "You know, when the university finds out about this, I'll probably be suspended from the faculty. What am I supposed to do about that?" Hope goes the tough-love route and tells him it's not her problem. Suddenly, Nick develops a lot of sympathy for Bo being married to the Shrew of Salem. When Hope is finished slicing and dicing Nick, she tees off on how Chelsea wasn't paying attention when she whacked Zack.

Prevuze That, of course is Chelsea's cue. She walks up and says, "She's right Nick. I'll have to live with that for all the Days Of Our Lives. What you did is unforgivable."

"You're right," says Nick, "Running a red light is a lot worse than turning Zack into a speed bump."

Bo advises Max to keep Caroline busy so she doesn't worry. He lets Max and Stephanie go but asks to speak to Melanie in private. Melanie plays dumb. It's not a stretch., "So, Detective Brady, what did you want to see me about?"

"Do I have to remind you that your father was murdered," asks Bo, "I think maybe you should get a lawyer." Melanie insists she doesn't need one. They go into Bo's office.

Scott meets Abe and Lexie at Chez Rouge. He's dug up Evan to run Abe's campaign. Abe and Evan go through a back-slapping session. Abe asks, "Evan! What are you doing here? You were raking in the Jacksons over at the Java Café."

"The Jacksons took their business to Starbucks," says Evan.

Mayor Moron-o joins the party, "So it's true. Abe Carver is going after my job."

Daniel lectures Kate. She refuses to get back in bed and then goes into a coughing fit. Kate flails around the room gasping for air until Dr. Miracle's mere touch heals her. Kate gasps, "I don't want to spend whatever time I have left in this hospital room?"

"Would you rather spend it in Intensive Care," asks Daniel.

Phillip says it was never going to work for Chloe and him. Nicole asks, "Did you guys fight a lot?"

Phillip asks, "Do you ask too many questions a lot? Chloe is better off with Lucas."

Nicole insists that's not true, "Lucas is self centered and concentrates too much on work and that island he lives on is at the ass end of nowhere. Ick. I don't like the woods. And Chloe isn't into diapers and all that stuff." Phillip finally works a word in edgewise and asks about Trent.

Max and Melanie arrive at the pub and find Caroline dottering around. Caroline can't believe Roman and Bo took Max to the station. Max is more worried about Caroline. "Don't worry about me," she says, "God is watching over me."

God sleeps at the switch.

Nick says it's almost like it wasn't even him doing all those nasty things. Chelsea asks for some time alone with Nick. Hope leaves.

Chelsea tells Nick she's just there as a friend. With Chelsea as a friend who needs enemies? Nick whines around about Trent's death being his fault. Chelsea wants to know what's really bothering him. Nick hems and haws. She wants to know what happened to his hand.

Bo points to Melanie's name on the list just to make sure she's still a suspect. Melanie points out Trent had a list of enemies that spanned the globe, "He was a big time gambler and wouldn't stop. He owed big time money. I'm no Nancy Drew but I'd stop focusing on people like me and start focusing on some of his real enemies."

"Goooooo-lee," says Bo, "I never thought of that. So, give me a name." Melanie suggests he start with Claude. "OK," says Bo, "We're done for now, but don't go anywhere." He opens the door but Melanie just stands there. "Why aren't you leaving," asks Bo.

"You just told me not to go anywhere."

Abe tells Mayor Moron-o he will be his opponent. He extends his hand, "May the best man win."

Mayor Moron-o says, "And since the best man isn't running, may one of us win." He turns to Abe's cronies, "You guys are backing the wrong horse."

Daniel tells Kate not to believe all the statistics she reads. Kate says she can't stand waiting around. She's missing important meetings. Daniel tells her she has a serious illness she needs to deal with.

Nicole says she wishes Trent had been murdered before Victor found out they were married. She thinks its insane they tried to pin the murder on Caroline. Nicole decides she would put her money on whomever has his wallet. Her Pookie-phone interrupts and she walks off. Phillip calls Bo, says he has a tip on the case and says he's headed for the station.

Caroline gets a call from Mickey and leaves. Max thanks Stephanie for trusting him. She heads for the kitchen. We pan in on her purse.

Bo and Hope talk. Bo wonders what triggered Nick's binge and tells Hope he thinks Melanie is the murderer. I guess that clears Melanie.

Melanie has somehow evaded the crack security at the SPD. She stands outside Nick's cell and eavesdrops as Nick insists he hit his hand in the lab. Melanie remembers him saying he hurt it in France. Chelsea says it's not Nick's fault Trent died because Max would have found him eventually. She points out he helped his best friend save his sister, so he should feel good about that. Melanie walks up, "Those are my feelings exactly."

Kate wants Daniel to release her. Daniel offers to go to the lab and personally find out the results of the biopsy. He leaves. Kate mutters, "By the time you get back I'll be gone."

Melanie asks what happened that got Nick into trouble. Nick says it's a long story. A guard comes and tells the girls they have to go.

The mayor wants to know why these guys would want to subject themselves to the scrutiny of public life. He brings up Theo. Abe gets defensive. Then the mayor points out Lexie is a DiMera, "I wish you luck Abe, because you will need it." He leaves and Abe rages. The advisors think the mayor probably had a photographer waiting hoping Abe would blow up and make a fool of himself.

"YOU MEAN LIKE I AM RIGHT NOW," asks Abe.

Lacey the irresponsible babysitter yaks on her cell phone as Theo wanders off.

Phillip arrives at Bo's office. He asks what Melanie is doing there. He tells Bo Melanie came to him for help finding her father's killer.

Kate coughs and dresses. Daniel comes back and says the biopsy isn't ready. He tries to stop her from leaving. Kate storms out.

Nick paces in his cell, "What have I done?"

Bo wants to know what Phillip's big tip is. Phillip says he doesn't exactly have a tip but wants to make a financial contribution, "How about a fund for families of fallen officers or whatever you want?"

Bo thinks it over, "How about a fund for officers who are married to each other and she's driving the guy crazy? " Phillip leaves it up to them to decide and leaves.

Bo turns to Hope, "That was odd."

"You're right about that," says Hope, "It should be a fund for officers who are married to each other and he's driving her crazy."

Phillip goes out and tells Melanie they need to talk, "Your father's wallet... why do you have it?" Melanie says she will tell him but they can't talk there.

Max the klutz cleans up, bangs into Stephanie's purse, knocks it to the floor and bends down to pick it up. He discovers Trent's wallet inside.

Abe and Lexie stroll back into the park. Abe is conflicted. He's worried the job as mayor will take time from his family. Lexie smiles, "Oh, Abe, you know I won't let anything take you away from me and Theo. We'll always be together as long as you keep ignoring my affairs."

Lacey comes running up screaming, "THEO'S GONE!"

Lexie gasps, "OMG!"

Hope goes the tough-love route and tells him it's not her problem. Suddenly, Nick develops a lot of sympathy for Bo being married to the Shrew of Salem.

That’s Hope, Madam Sensitivity.

Melanie plays dumb. It's not a stretch.

I am praying to the soap opera gods that Melanie disappears once the Trent murder mystery is solved.  Compared to Melanie, Chelsea is actually tolerable.

"Lucas is a self centered and concentrates too much on work and that island he lives on is at the ass end of nowhere.”

This statement begs several questions.  Exactly how did Lucas develop this work ethic?  Was he the employee of the month at the state pen for his speedy production of license plates?  Just why is he still living in the Horton cabin?  He’s now CFO of Titan.  Does he only make minimum wage?  It has been intimated that Salem is somewhere near Chicago, and it’s starting to get pretty chilly around here.  Since the cabin appears to lack indoor plumbing, taking out door showers has got to be getting rather uncomfortable.

I'm no Nancy Drew but I'd stop focusing on people like me and start focusing on some of his real enemies."

"Goooooo-lee," says Bo, "I never thought of that.”

Typical SPD investigation…hasn’t PI Steve figured out that Trent was a global jerk?

Nicole decides she would put her money on whomever has his wallet.

Huh?  Now the wallet is the big clue?  Good going writers.  You really pulled that one right out of your butts.  Geez.

Bulldog, that is oh so true, and Prevuze the Brady family tree of suspects is right on.  Thanks for brightening up this gloomy and rainy hump day morning.

Ha and people thought nothing happened yesterday. I'm getting really sick and tired of these PSA's. I am an adult and do not need to have this shoved in my face. Get off your do-gooding kick & just give us a (good) story. Not to mention the hypocrisy of all the PSA's and then people having unprotected sex on random one night stands, killing each other, and deception at the police department.

All of the pictures were great and got funnier and funnier further down the line. The Brady Family Tree list of suspects had me LOL.

A couple of my favorite Prevuisms not yet mentioned:

"There are plenty of suspects out there," says Bo, "Damned if we'll be able to find them, though."

"You were raking in the Jacksons over at the Java Café." "The Jacksons took their business to Starbucks," says Evan.

Not so much a HUH?! moment as a ALL YOU CAN DO IS SHAKE YOUR HEAD moment:

Only one month before the election and Abe is just getting into the race? No primary. No citizen petition to get him on the ballot. No fund raising. He just decides he’s going to run. Only in Salem...

LB is right. It sounds like this episode will make yesterday's seem like an action show. Thanks for spicing it up for us Prevuze.

I figured Melanie would plant Trent's wallet on Max, not Stephanie. I guess she hates her more? I for one hope Melanie did do it so she will leave the show.

Melanie is indeed a spoiled brat. She makes Stephanie and Chelsea look like goodie two shoes in comparison with their brattiness. I hope she leaves DOOL soon.

Go, Theo, go!! Looks like he took some lessons from Claire and has been planning his escape for awhile. HAHAHAHA

How did Phillip know that was Trent's wallet? I know he picked it up when she dropped it but it could have belonged to anyone.

For Pete's sake, let Kate go already. I'm sure the other patients would appreciate not only the peace and quiet but some actual attention from the medical staff.

And Nick shouldn't worry about the faculty at the campus finding out he got a DUI. Next week he'll be the new dean.

Loved the Jacksons heading over to Starbuck's and LOL over Phillip's picture.

Great Prevuze today, thanks!!

Nicole soon tells EJ she is pregnant and he accuses her of using her pregnancy to get some DiMera money. How utterly DiMera is that behavior!!! Sami overhears the news just before she was planning on telling EJ about her pregnancy. Looks like she won't tell him now.

DOOL Spoilers for next week:

Daniel and Kate make love. Yuck! Granny and Danny at it again! He obviously has a sick passion for dying women as well as girls who are way too young for him.
Nick and Melanie share a passionate kiss. I hope that's all they share.
Lucas informs Chloe that Sami will be living with them for the time being, October 13th. What self-respecting g/f would put up with that nonsense!?!

John gives Marlena signed divorce papers on Thursday, October 16th. Ok, they are getting divorced real fast for some reason? Maybe John will be the person who takes care of Nicole now?

Sami witnesses a murder on Friday, October 17th.

I hope someone kills Stefano, and he stays gone this time for good.

Why doesn't Stefano insist that Abe & Lexie take Theo to the one doctor who can cure him,DR. Rolfe.Afterall the good doctor has brought people back from the dead, created zombies & wiped out memories. So curing autism should be a snap for him.

“Sami witnesses a murder on Friday, October 17th.

Sorry, Anonymous, according to spoilers, that would be Mayor Weasel taking the bullet.  Maybe Abe had something to do with it, and that’s why he hasn’t spent any money on his campaign.  Since DOOL only has two sets, the murder reportedly takes place at the McMansion so I’m sure DiMera conspiracy theories will abound.

Melanie is a spoiled brat but so was Chelsea when she first arrived in Salem. I hope they keep her around and hook her up with Phil in a year.

Looks like a whole lot of nuttin' going on. Thanks for taking the hit.
