I Love You, Tiny Man

Carrie paces on the roof. Austin comes out. "This is a nice surprise," she says. He asks why she is there. "I couldn't sleep," she says.

"Me neither," says Austin, "Too much on my mind."

"I had a great time tonight," says Carrie, "When I first decided to come back to Salem, you know what worried me most?"

Austin guesses, "Sami?"

"Seeing you worried me most," says Carrie, "I thought it would feel awkward. But it doesn't. It's nice catching up with you, feeling close..." Austin is distant. She asks, "What?"

He stammers, "I just... I can't believe you're not with Mike anymore."

"I can't believe you're still single," says Carrie, "You're a catch. What was with all those girls in New York?"

"I just wasn't that interested," says Austin.

"Why was that?"

Austin says, "Lets just say there is a reason we wound up here tonight... Fate."

Alex lies unconscious. Lois comes into his room. She brandishes the hypo, "If you knew how close I came to finishing off Marlena... Then that idiot of a husband of hers walked in. He'll convince Marlena you're the one trying to hurt her. Can you hear me? We can't have that..."

Phillip tells Belle, "I think it's time. I hate this. We can't find a donor. She's just suffering. We have to say goodbye to our little girl."

Mimi brings Shawn coffee. Shawn isn't interested. "Tell me what to do," says Mimi, "I feel so useless right now."

"There is nothing you can do," says Shawn, "I can't believe this. Belle and Phillip don't even know. A damn hit and run driver... how can they live with themselves right now? I hope to God whoever did this pays."

The little brat whines to Max, "Why did this have to happen?"

Abe talks to the cops, "A young boy's life snuffed out just like that. I want to find out who did this to my son. I guess you think I'm crazy calling him my son. Lexie and I adopted him. It wasn't until later we found out Bo and Hope were his parents. Who would do this? I want you to find him and I hope he never sees the light of day.

Zach's machines beep. Hope says, "I can't stand it. He's so still. What do we do?"

"We have to do what is right for Zach," says Bo.

Lexie says, "No matter how hard it is to accept, we've lost Zach."

"I don't' believe that," says Hope, "There has to be a specialist who can do something, Lexie."

Lexie says, "The specialists have all examined him. The doctor's all agree there is no brain activity. As senseless as this is you have a chance to turn it into something positive."

"Stop talking like it's hopeless, because it can't be," says Hope, "I can't lose my little baby."

Belle stares at Claire. Phillip tells Claire how much they love her. He tells Belle Claire is dying. They have to accept it. Belle can't. There is something Belle needs to do. She takes Phillip with her.

Shawn can't believe they lost Zach.

Mimi assures him, "He's in heaven."

"I don't know if I believe that," says Shawn, "I just don't know any more. I hate what my parents are going through. Zach was their miracle baby. I don't know if I can deal with this. I used to tease him. Even as young as he was, he would give it right back to me. I used to tell him all the time, if you want to pitch in the majors, you can, buddy. And now we'll never know."

The rookies tell Abe they are developing a strong case. They can't tell him what they have, though. He's glad they are going by the book. He leaves.

One cop says to the other, "If the evidence holds up, they will be plenty shocked."

Max and the murderer overhear. Max thinks it will be vehicular homicide at the least. The brat won't feel sorry for whoever did this.

Hope doesn't want to hear it, but Lexie makes a pitch for the gift of life – child organ donors. Hope can't do this. Lexie wouldn't ask if there was any chance.

"THE ANSWER IS NO," shouts Hope.

Carrie believes in fate sometimes. Austin thinks his happiness is because of her. He has the same effect on Carrie. They look to the new year for new opportunities. I should go plays in the background as they kiss.

"I don't want to mess this up by going too fast," says Austin, "I want a future with you."

I want that, too," says Carrie, "but there is a problem."

Lois rants to Alex. She was in love with him before she became his patient. When the ISA agent came and told her he was alive it was like being stabbed in the chest. He can't stop her now. His hand makes a fist.

Belle and Phillip come into the chapel. Phillip takes Belle's hand and they light a candle. Belle prays, "My baby girl is fighting for her life. They say it's time to say goodbye. I don't know how. She is the best part of me. I can't understand why you would want to take her from me. Please don't let her die. When I was in church on Christmas Eve, I begged for a miracle. If you're testing my faith it hasn't faltered. If you're gonna take her from me, help me understand why. Otherwise, send me a sign you're going to spare her."

"Honey," says Phillip, "let's go be with her."

As they turn to leave, Belle sees something on the floor and gasps, "God sent us a sign!"

Hope can't believe Lexie is asking for organ donation. Lexie tries to convince Hope, "Zach is gone."

Hope cries, "NO!"

"I know it's a painful decision," says Lexie, "Zach would save a life. Maybe more than one. Think what this could mean to another family. There is a possibility Zach might be able to save Claire's life."

"OMG," says Hope.

"If Zach could save Claire's life I know that is what he would want to do," says Bo, "We could spare Belle and Phillip the pain we are going through."

"We have to do this," asks Hope. Bo nods. Hugs and tears.

Bo struggles with the words, "We give you permission to take Zach off life support and will allow donating his organs."

"You are doing a wonderful thing," says Lexie.

Bo bends down and talks to Zach, "Hey, Tiny Man, it's been our privilege to have been your parents. We're proud we could share our life with you." Bo breaks down. "We're gonna miss you. I love you Tiny Man. So does Mommy."

"Oh, my beautiful little boy," says Hope, "You brought us so much joy. Oh, baby. I love you. I don't want to go on without you." Sorrow.

Mimi tells Shawn Zach worshiped him. Shawn thought he would be able to protect him, "Who could have done this?"

Jennifer tells Victor what happened, "Zach wandered outside and was struck. Whoever ran him down never even stopped."

The murderer asks Max why this happened.

Hope can't say goodbye. Lexie cries. Hope struggles to sign the form. Bo takes the pen and signs.

"You just made one of life's most difficult decisions. It was the right thing," says Lexie.

"Let's just hope something good comes from this," says Bo. Fade to the brat.

Lois gives her evil laugh, "MWAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm a walking cliché – The patient who fell in love with her therapist. Do you know how humiliated I was, knowing you two were together again? I have to kill you and Marlena will be next."

Carrie thinks Sami is the problem, "But it's us, too. How do we know the feeling is real? Are we thinking clearly here?"

"I'm thinking clearly," says Austin, "I know what I feel is real."

Carrie asks, "What makes you think we can keep this up when I go back to LA?"

"I will be there a lot," says Austin, "We can work it out." He gets a call. He looks at his phone, tells her it's business and walks away. Its' Nicole. Austin says, "Don't worry. Everything will go smoothly. The only thing I feel bad about is not knowing who the CEO is."

None other than the CEO stands on the other side of the roof and talks on her own phone, "It's going well. OK, it's going great. I have tons of ideas for the company. That's my first priority, but Austin is a close second. My dreams are coming true."

Carrie comes up behind Austin as he talks about taking over Highstyle. "My God, Austin," she says, "I can't believe it."

Lexie wonders why the test results are taking so long. Abe says, "It's like we're losing him all over again. You know, that sad day when we had to let him go, at least he was alive and well and we knew he was going to good parents."

"I know," says Lexie, "We thought we'd get to watch him grow up. He'd always be a part of the Days Of Our Lives.

A nurse brings Lexie the test results. Lexie checks to see if there is any hope for Claire.

Victor watches Shawn and Mimi. He thinks, "If I tell him he is the father of Belle's baby it will destroy Phillip. But he has a right to know."

Mimi reminds Shawn of what Mickey said. "Mickey is a lot more forgiving than I am," says Shawn, "I hate the person who did this."

"When you hate someone," says Mimi, "it only hurts you. Nothing good comes of it."

"Hate is all I have right now," says Shawn.

Max tries to convince the little murderer to get something to eat. She can't understand why these things keep happening.

The cop shows the other cop the report, "It's all there. The evidence is rock solid." Bo and Hope come up. They ask what the officers found. The cops rule out a drunk driver.

Bo and Hope want to know why they don't think it was a drunk. Bo seethes, "We need to know two things... Who was driving the car that hit our son and how they're gonna be punished?" Fade to the brat.

Belle has found baby's breath on the floor. She tells Phillip, "When an angel whispers a prayer to God and it is answered, the angel thanks God with baby's breath. Finding this means Claire's guardian angel has asked God to save her. Just try to have faith a little longer. God won't let us down."

The nurse comes into the chapel, "Lexie wants to see you right away. It's an emergency."

Austin hangs up. Carrie has found something. A clue, I hope. She shows him a piece of foil.

Austin says, "They were falling everywhere that night. It was a magical night."

"Do you still feel the same way about me," asks Carrie.

Alex grabs Lois as she makes her move. Lois struggles.

"You're a monster, Lois," he yells. Your days of threatening Marlena are over!"

"I don't think so," says Looney Lois, "Say goodbye, Alex." She wiggles out of his grasp and stands poised to cut off his air tube.

Austin asks, "You don't know how I feel about you? I love you. I never stopped loving you."

"I feel the same way," says Carrie, "I love you very much."

"What do you say we take things a little further," he says. Fade to their initials on the door.

Lexie tells Belle and Phillip they have found a liver, "There is no guarantee this will save her. If the transplant is successful this will save her life, but it may be too late."

The brat says life is unfair. She hopes this is a nightmare.

Max says, "We just need to hope the cops found the right person."

"I hope they put them away forever," says the creep.

Shawn tells Mimi he hopes they show the culprit no mercy.

Bo swears he will tear the driver apart.

"We know who did it," says the cop.

FF on Bo and Hope with the lightning of God's wrath in the background.

Naked Lucas yells at naked Sami, "What're you trying to do, seduce me? What're you doing? Trying to get me to give you another kid because the one we have hates you so much?"

"I cannot do this," whines Belle, "I can't. Lexie is shocked, "Are you saying you don't want the transplant?"

Hope screams at the cops, "Who killed my son? You tell me now! Who killed him? Who killed my boy?"

Max says, "Chelsea, what's wrong?"

Not only is Lois wandering around unchecked, but she's doing it with a loaded hypodermic. Does the hospital just post a "Help Yourself" sign on the drug cabinets?

And what do you bet the cops don't get out whose car hit Zach until Wednesday?
