Say Hello To Hell

Sami and John are in Marlena's room. Kayla mixes potions and chants. She says she doesn't understand why this is happening. Snivelin' Sami urges her to do something. Kayla asks them to step out.

Outside, EJ commiserates with sobbin' Sami. John leaves. As he goes, EJ tells him talking to Stefano is a waste of time.

Tony and Anna are in Stefano's room. Stefano says he did what he had to do to Marlena. He tells Anna she's been a nuisance and is now a meddlesome bitch. Tony nukes, "You're talking about my wife!"

Stefano gasps, "Oh no."

Anna and Stefano get into it. Tony wants answers. John walks in, John says, "So it is to be."

Stefano says, "Hello, John."

Tony asks, "You're not thinking about hurting him?"

"For now," says John, "I need him alive." He wants to know what Stefano did to Blondie. Stefano says he has no idea what John is talking about.

John leans over Stefano's bed and threatens, "You only get one warning. Tell me."

Patch barges into Marlena's room, "What happened to Marlena?"

Kayla says, "She's been injected with paralyzing toxin."

Marlena mumbles, "Stefano..."

Prevuze

Kayla tells Patch Stefano is awake.

Stefano tells John, "You have nothing to bargain with."

John asks, "Can I get you another pillow?"

"You didn't suffocate me when you had the chance," says Stefano, "That is your weakness. Stefano says he knows as long as John believes Marlena's fate is in Stefano's hands, he wouldn't hurt him. Tony and Anna leave. Stefano says he knows John is his half brother. John reminds him he has taken his entire empire. Stefano says that's all about to change.

Kayla leaves. Patch encourages Marlena. Kayla comes back, "I told the techs to put everything else aside and work on Marlena's tests. To hell with the other patients."

Sami turns to EJ, "As soon as they find out what Stefano did to my mother I hope John kills him." Sami Brady: Justification for the existence of Hell.

EJ reminds her Stefano believes Marlena put him in a catatonic state. Sami asks if EJ thinks Marlena did it. EJ says he does. Sami defends Marlena. She can't believe EJ feels sorry for Stefano, "There is a right side and wrong side, EJ. Choose carefully."

Stefano tells John he doesn't often fail and won't fail this time. John thinks his last plan, to have him kill Colleen, failed. "Yes," says Stefano, "I was disappointed about that."

"Get used to it," says John, "I am the man who controls your empire and I can snap your neck like a pencil."

John tells Stefano Colleen died with all her friends and family around her. Stefano says John isn't safe from him.

Slobberin' Sami comes back into Marlena's room and nukes. Kayla says she's doing everything she can. Patch leaves. Outside he and EJ have a staredown. EJ insists he had nothing to do with this.

Marlena tells Kayla she's wasting her time. Sami asks EJ if he knows anything about this. Sami wonders if Rolf had something to do with this. EJ goes to check with him.

Marlena mumbles, "I know... What's in the needle... Its the same toxin I gave Stefano... Adrenaline."

"How do you spell that," asks Kayla.

Marlena says, "A mix... Curare.. polystreptophene... typtophante... with double foam... Enough to paralyze not to kill... Before too long I won't even be able to move or speak."

Marlena goes on, but the audience cheering drowns her out.

Anna wants to know how Tony could let Stefano talk to her like that. They argue. "We've got to find out soon," says Tony, "What he did to her is vengeance. He won't be satisfied until she is dead."

Stefano says what he is doing to Marlena is because of what she did to him. He tells John he was in love with her once and she was his Achilles heel, "She put me through a living hell."

"I can certainly relate to that," says John. Stefano tells him things are in motion and John can't stop it. EJ barges in and tells John to back off, "It's not like you are in love with her. You can't be because you had that thing with Ava Vitali."

Stefano picks up on that interesting tidbit, "Martino's daughter? What did you have going with her?" EJ tells him John moved on when Ava moved out. Stefano asks, "So you are now Salem's savior?"

"No," says John, "I am your enemy. And that means your enemies are my friends." John reveals EJ is his lawyer. Stefano sees this as another betrayal. "Get used to it," says John. He goes to check on Marlena, leaving Stefano and EJ alone.

Stefano growls, "Et tu, Elvis?"

Snivelin' Sami begs Marlena to fight this. John walks in and tells her he's going to help.

Time passes. Tony comes in to see Marlena. he asks if she was responsible for paralyzing Stefano. Marlena admits it. Tony is sure she had a good reason. Marlena says she had no choice. Tony is sure it was rationalized but it was wrong. "I had to protect my family," whispers Marlena.

"You sound just like Stefano."

Elvis tells Stefano he will handle things himself. Stefano thinks EJ has forgotten he is his father. John comes back, "Time's up nephew, I'm taking over." EJ leaves. John toys with a cigar, "You're gonna have to talk to me or I will hurt you."

Stefano says he can't feel anything since he is partially paralyzed. John flattens Stefano's hand against it and presses it backwards. Stefano threatens, "You break even my little finger and someone else will pay! I blame myself. You were trained not to accept defeat."

Sobbin' Sami charges Stefano's room, but EJ stops her. Sami vows to make him tell how to save her mother. A banging sound interrupts her tantrum. "What's that," asks Sami.

Stefano hears the sound, "Ah... there. It's done."

"What's done," asks John.

"The fate of my enemies is sealed."

Marlena says she isn't sorry for what she did. Tony knows she couldn't kill him because of her basic goodness. Tony prays Stefano doesn't succeed in killing her. "Is that why he came back," asks Marlena.

Tony sighs, "He came back because he wants to kill us all."

Sami says, "I have a strange feeling. I'm going for air."

Stefano tells John if he reveals what he did it would take away the excitement of discovery, "But there is no way to stop it." John decides to deny him the pleasure of watching it. He gets Stefano's neck in a vice grip. Stefano chokes.

Anna comes into Marlena's room. Marlena tells her it's getting harder to move and breathe. "Hang in there," says Anna.

"That's better advice than I've gotten from Kayla," says Marlena. Anna vows once Marlena gets better they can figure a way to destroy Stefano for once and for all.

Stefano turns blue. John growls, "Say hello to hell." Patch rushes in and sees John choking Stefano. He grabs John, gets him in a half-nelson and pulls him across the room, "Stop it, John. Stefano did the same thing to me but I got it back. So can you."

"You wanted it," says John, "I don't."

"If you kill him you'll probably kill Marlena too," says Patch.

John mulls it over, "Two birds with one stone. Tempting, but I guess I'll let him live anyway."

Patch tells Stefano if John isn't around to kill him later, Patch will.

Kayla gets an epiphany, "I think I found something that will help!" She runs to get her bag of leeches.

"Basic research is what I am doing when I don’t know what I am doing." — Dr. Werner von Braun

"Basic research is when you don’t know what you’re doing." — Charles E. Wilson 1890 - 1961, US Sec. of Defense

"I do a lot of basic research." — Dr. Kayla Johnson, MD

Sami comes back and tells EJ she tried to go up to the roof, but the door was locked. EJ picks up a phone to call and report it, but the phone is dead. Sami also reports that she has been unable to get reception on her cell phone. They go to check all the doors and elevators.

Marlena says soon she won't be able to move at all. Anna curses Stefano. Kayla comes back in. she asks to speak to Marlena alone. After Anna leaves, Kayla says, "I think I found something that might cure you, but it also might kill you. Antitoxins are poison. Do you want to take the risk?"

Sami and EJ have discovered all the elevators are broken and all the stairs are locked. Sami blames Stefano. They rush toward his room.

Anna is already there. Stefano's bed is empty. John and Tony come in. Anna tells them Stefano's gone. John thinks he was faking his paralysis all along. Sami and EJ rush in. EJ tells them the doors are locked and the phones are out. Suddenly, an important message comes on the TV, "We'll return for the second half of Days Of Our Lives in just a moment... but first, this bulletin... The seventh floor of Salem Hospital is locked down in a quarantine situation. Officials have no comment at this time."

Patch brings L'il Joe into a room, "When Kayla comes back we'll tell her what a good checkup you had." All of a sudden, Patch hears a noise, tests the door and finds it locked. He looks up at the vent in the room and discovers something as terrifying as a seventh grader finding a "Back to School" sale — GAS!

Patch grabs L'il Joe and puts his car seat on the floor. Then he climbs up to the vent, reaches for it and chokes. He gets back down and hovers over L'il Joe.

Kayla asks, "Do you think it will work?"

Marlena stammers, "Uh... Do you usually ask your patients for advice on how to treat them?" Marlena decides she has no choice.

Kayla says she prays it works, "In my case, prayer is a lot more effective than treatment." Kayla prepares the hypo, but stops when she sees gas pouring out of the vent. Kayla chokes.

John thinks Tony knows what Stefano is up to. Tony denies it. They discover gas pouring out of the vent. Snivelin' Sami panics, "OMG, look!"

The purple gas is such a hoot! I guess we should all brace ourselves for the Olympic storyline fluff that will ensue...oh wait, hasn't the whole show been fluff for a while now?

"I told the techs to put everything else aside and work on Marlena's tests. To hell with the other patients."

Whatta wonderful hospital!!  A doctor on the staff has enough power to get everyone in the lab to stop what they’re doing to work on Kayla’s case.  Good grief.

"There is a right side and wrong side, EJ. Choose carefully."

EJ’s already chosen Sami…so much for being careful.

”Enough to paralyze not to kill... Before too long I won't even be able to move or speak."

Marlena goes on, but the audience cheering drowns her out.

Damn straight on that one Prevuze!!!!!

"She put me through a living hell."

"I can certainly relate to that," says John.

…so can the audience.

Stefano turns blue. John growls, "Say hello to hell."

It’s called DOOL.

Patch rushes in and sees John choking Stefano. He grabs John, gets him in a half-nelson and pulls him across the room.

We’re supposed to believe this skinny dude can contain a trained killer who spends his down time pumping iron?  As if!!!!!

Welcome back from your vacation Prevuze!!!  Instead of drama, DOOL greets you with gas…whew!!!!!!!  Thanks for the terrific recap!!!

No. In fact today he was only a pile of blankets.

Yup, Prevuze is back and ready to snark. So many LOL Prevuisms today!

My favorite one, tho, are the famous research quotes. HAHAHHA

What a farce! I'm so glad DOOL is still pursuing going green with another recycled script. And probably recycled props - I'm sure it's the same "gas" and vents used when Payla were gassed and then quarantined forever. (Do you suppose we could ask them to use the leftover gas in that jailhouse in France?) Note to Deb: does your catalog of Dazed facts show how many other times this script has been used?

One good thing, if it wasn't Rolf who whisked Stefano away I'm thinking it was Bart. ;)

Thanks, Prevuze, for the welcome chuckles on the typical dreaded Monday! :D

Yes, Prevuze is back and in a fine fettle. All the pictures were hilarious, but I would have definitely had a spit take at Stefano being trapped in a "roomy body". Actually, I did do a spit take. It's just that there was nothing in my mouth but spit at the time.

”…I can snap your neck like a pencil."

I don’t know Jawn, as has been pointed out, it’s a pretty thick pencil.

My HUH?! moment:
”…first, this bulletin... The seventh floor of Salem Hospital is locked down in a quarantine situation. Officials have no comment at this time."

Uh, the “lockdown” happened about 30 seconds ago. When did any official have TIME to make a comment, let alone notify the TV station that it had happened. And are Stefano & Marlena the only two patients on that floor?

I know this is the start of a two-week "limited" arc, but that does't mean that the viewers are limited.

Maybe they mean the writers are limited - in talent, imagination, you get where I'm going. Luckily, Prevuze isn't limited in anthing.

Tony hit the nail on the head with his comment about Marlena sounding like Stefano. The two of them are exactly alike but we are supposed to think Marlena has a good reason and Stefano is evil??!! Please!!!

Kayla's working on Marlena's case, of course everyone else in the hospital can wait.

Marlena's hypocrasy knows no bounds.

"You sound just like Stefano."
To me, that is a load of crap. Stefano harms innocent people for suspected acts of betrayal and other nonsense. The people who Stefano harms are usually of no threat to him or his family.

Stefano is and has alway been a constant threat. He makes that known. I see what the writers are trying to do here and they failed imo. It's a pretty big stretch to say Marlena = Stefano, perhaps if Marlena paralyzed EJ because she believed he was evil then I'd agree with the comparison.

It was illegal and unethical and perhaps this is 'karma' for her but all she did was stop a constant, hostile, volatile, non-compromising threat.

Patch tells Stefano if John isn't around to kill him later, Patch will.
Sure you will buddy, I'm sure that's why Stefano fled the hospital. Go Patch!!

And are Stefano & Marlena the only two patients on that floor?
Applecheeks, they probably wheeled out everyone else to focus on Lady Marlena. lol

To answer your question Bulldog, the first incidence of gas being used for something other than the gas chamber, is in 2000, when Rolf gassed the pilot of the plane John chartered to take everyone to France to search for his past.
After that it really doesn't show up again until last year with Payla.

There have been many incidents in which poison was used, and in some cases it's never really revealed how the poison was administered, so it may have been gas, it may not have been.

One thing is certain, however, where there's gas there's Rolf (insert bad fart joke here).

I do have to say, I am glad Stefano is back. For the first time in over a month I am actually watching Days instead of just reading Prevuze and deleting the show off my TIVO.

Ok, so they locked down the floor, and the phones don't work, but to say cell phones are also dead would require an act of God. Realism at its worst. lol

Where theres gas theres Rolf!! To funny. Is little Joe a real baby now,no just a bundle of blankets. Reminds me of the Pinoccio on Shrek I'm a real boy!!! Sorry about this folks, Marlena screwed herself on this one. She did the deed. As they say pay back is hell. I'm glad old Stepheno is back he makes things happen. Much better than watching Max and his niece pledge their undying love for one another. Its okay its all good. c
