One Big Bowl Of Crazy
The camera pans up EJ's bed as we hear Nicole talking in the background. She says she's surprised that she hates seeing him like this. Daniel walks in, "I'm surprised to see you here."
Nicole reminds him EJ was her husband, "I may have ended up hating him but I never wanted him to die. Except for when he was choking me."
Sami and Rafe are in bed. Sami smooches him and gets up as Rafe dreams about coming in and finding EJ in a bedroom, "You!" Will comes up behind him and shoots EJ.
Sami meets Will at the pub. She sits with him and tries to encourage him to eat. Will don' wanna. Sami defends herself again for shooting EJ, but Will tells her she doesn't have to justify it. He says he wishes he could have helped her so things didn't come to this. Sami tells him not to feel guilty, "I'm sorry. No one could have stopped me. It's true..."
But I did not shoot the deputy."
Brady flashes back to what has happened in the crypt. He sits on the sarcophagus as Vivian struggles inside, "Get me out of here!"
Maggie hesitates at Victor's door and gives herself a pep talk. She practices her speech to Victor, but gives up on that, "Just be yourself and wing it. But just pray that Vivian is not home."
No problem there. Vivian is detained at the moment. Brady taps on the sarcophagus and tells Vivian she's a genius the way she has set this up. No answer. "What," asks Brady, "Mummy got your tongue?" Vivian begs him to let her out. Brady no-can-do.
Will says he realizes Sami did what she thought she had to do. "Your secret is safe with me," says Sami. Rafe stands there.
Vivian struggles to breathe. She tries threats. Brady reminds her he has letters to prove she was going to do this to Maggie, "Bloody Mary doesn't have a thing on you." He shuts off the electronics and leaves. The camera pans to an earring on the floor by the sarcophagus.
Vivian has a conniption, "Damn you, Brady! Let me out of here!"
Rafe, who has apparently gone deaf says, "You left without saying goodbye."
"You were asleep," says Sami. She goes to check on EJ. Rafe sits with Will and says he thinks Sami took off pretty quickly. Will says it's a tough time for Sami, "What's she supposed to do under the circumstances, sit around and have a leisurely breakfast at the pub?" Rafe reminds Will he said EJ got what he deserved. Will says he still thinks this is a sad situation. He gets defensive with Rafe and Rafe wonders why.
Nicole says there were many times EJ could be loving, "Especially when he wasn't trying to kill me. If he lives and goes back to being the old EJ then I will end up hating him again." Daniel has had enough. He leaves.
Nicole turns back to Buzz and gives him both barrels, "I do hate you... bastard. Do everyone a favor and die!"
Arianna walks into the room, "Get the hell away from him!"
Henderson escorts Maggie into the den. Brady finds her. She tells him she's delaying her trip. She says she wants to help Melanie plan the baby shower and also wants to come to his mother's re-dedication. She asks him if he knows Gus. Brady says he knows him. She says Gus called, "The connection got 'fizzy,' but he told me to watch out. Do you know what to make of that?"
"Yes I do," says Brady, "You had a bad connection and he told you to watch out."
Victor walks in, "Make of what?"
Will says he has to get to class and leaves. Apparently, Rafe gets to pay the bill.
Sami comes in to see EJ. She flashes back to shooting him, "What I did was terrible, but you have done terrible things to me. So now I need to know whether or not to end it." We have a flashback to the TV broadcast where Sami begged the kidnapper to bring Sydney back, "It was your idea wasn't it... to gather that crowd together and have that vigil? You told me she was dead. And you said you loved me."
Lexie stands at the door, "He did."
Nicole is at the dock griping to someone on the phone about Arianna having her thrown out of the hospital. Arianna walks by. Nicole stops her and wants to know why she had her thrown out. Arianna says Nicole ruined EJ's life and then pulled the baby switcheroo. Arianna starts to go but Nicole grabs her, "Why are you suddenly his guardian angel?"
Arianna says, "Somebody has to make sure he doesn't get another barbaric haircut."
Vivian huffs and puffs, "Gus, how could you leave me at a time like this. I know you care... please come back and save me."
Maggie says Gus called her. She doesn't know why he called but told her to watch out. Victor thinks Vivian pushed Gus too far.
says Maggie.
"Something was off in the conversation," says Maggie.
"If you ask me," says Victor, "both of you were." He suggests Maggie call Vivian and ask her about it.
Brady jumps out of his socks, "No. I don't think you should do that."
Lexie says EJ regretted what he had done when he realized how much he loved Sami. "I loved him too," says Sami, "and now that love is gone forever."
Will comes into the pub and meets Kate. She asked to meet him there. She tells him she thinks the world of him and would never hurt him, "So whatever you tell me will stay strictly between the two of us. Until it suits me to spread it around."
Will plays dumb (it's not a stretch), "I don't know what you are talking about."
"I think you do."
Arianna says she doesn't have to explain her actions to Nicole. Nicole thinks Arianna would like to move on with EJ, "What would your saintly brother think about that?"
"Thinking isn't his strong suit," says Arianna.
Brady says Victor shouldn't call Vivian because she's busy with the tribute. Maggie doesn't want to get Vivian involved or cause her to do mean things to Gus. Brady agrees. Victor backs down. Brady leaves.
Maggie says she's been thinking and has decided to postpone the trip. Victor is delighted, "Why did you decide not to go?"
"There are lots of reasons," says Maggie, "But the main reason is you."
Brady sneaks into Vivian's bedroom — Drink in hand, of course. He turns on the TV and watches Vivian lying in the sarcophagus, "Hey Vivian, still there?"
"Little early for a drink, isn't it," asks Vivian.
Brady hoists his glass, "You drove me to it, old girl." He searches the room and finds the camera. It's pointing right to the bed, "You crazy woman. What the hell were you going to do at this angle? You covered your bases. OMG. Were you going to seduce my grandfather here and make Maggie watch it?"
"He is my husband!"
"You're one big bowl of crazy," says Brady, "There is no part of any man that could love a sadistic wretch like you. Victor will want you to burn in hell when he finds out about this."
Victor wonders about Maggie staying in town for him, "Dare I be flattered?"
"Dare away," says Maggie, "I never told you how I felt. I enjoy your company and think you are funny and kind. You can be exasperating at times, though."
"I kind of enjoy it when you tell me off," says Victor.
"Well," says Maggie, "I'll make it a point to tell you off more often."
"I'm delighted you are staying," says Victor. So is Mags, but she thinks they have to set boundaries because he is a married man. She says she doesn't understand why he feels compelled to be married to that awful woman.
Vivian tells Brady she was desperate. Brady says he wants to see her suffer. He tells her Maggie is there right now and is looking beautiful, "You should have seen Victor when she walked in. That man devoured her with his eyes. They're downstairs talking. Or maybe they aren't talking any more."
Vivian screams...
"NOOOOOO!"
Lexie leaves. Sami stares at Buzz, "OMG, please, no one can ever find out."
Kate says, "I think you know about what happened to EJ."
"More than you could guess," says Will, 'I know he was shot." Kate gives him a skeptical look. "What... you don't believe me?"
"No," says Kate, "I don't."
Arianna gets defensive and she and Nicole ramp up the argument. Nicole says she's happy for Arianna and claims she's in love, "I thought EJ was a swell guy once too. He was wonderful to me in the beginning. Then we left the elevator. I lost the baby and he threw me and little Sydney out on our asses. So, you defend him, but if EJ wakes up and you happen to be by his side declaring your love, just know you will be his next victim."
Sami is out in the waiting area with Rafe. She says there is no change. Rafe wonders how long it can go on. Sami says it's up to her because she is the one who has to decide to pull the plug. She shakes her head, "I can't do it. Rafe, I just can't."Daniel comes in with EJ and Lexie. Lexie sniffs. Daniel comforts. Lexie whimpers, "Even if he survives his brain function will be minimal. And things will be back to normal. Wah-blubber-boo-hoo."
Victor says, "It's complicated."
"I can do complicated," says Maggie, "Complicated... uncomplicated... it doesn't matter. I'll spread it all over town either way."
"With Vivian it wasn't about love," says Victor.
"Mickey and I had a great marriage," says Maggie, "Except for when I wanted to kill him for having that little fling with Bonnie. I miss him more and more every day. Even if you were single, I wouldn't be ready to move on, and I may never be ready."
Vivian gets huffy, "That home-wrecking harlot! I told her to stay away!"
"Yeah," says Brady, "but then you decided it was more effective to stick her in a sarcophagus and drive her crazy. You know, I'm sure Lawrence misses you very much and would love your company deep in hell." Vivian starts to panic. Brady asks if he should make her life hell on earth instead, "How do you think grandfather will react when I tell him what you did to Mom."
"You can't tell him," screams Vivian, "You can't!"
Victor plays it cool in his moment of rejectification, "I don't quite understand."
"You cheer me up," says Maggie, "but as far as anything else goes... this just isn't our time."
Vivian insists Brady can't do this. Brady runs through a litany of Vivian's sins. He reminds her she has moved Isabella to a pet cemetery. Vivian defends that and says she put Izzy in a beautiful tree-shaded plot. Brady snorts, "What? A nice spot next to Rover and Mittens? Shut up! You're a criminal! You are in this situation because you made it his way. I want to watch you suffer. Have a drink!" He tosses the rest of his drink onto the camera and follows up by crashing the glass into it. Splash and crash.
Will can't believe Kate is interrogating him, "If anybody is keeping secrets here..."
Kate interrupts, "Then you know about the phone call. I understand you love your mother."
Will freaks out, "STOP IT! Don't ask questions you know I can't answer. I get enough of that on tests at school."
Sami contemplates pulling the plug, "I'm not ready for this."
Out in the audience, the Safes chant, "PULL THE PLUG! PULL THE PLUG! PULL THE PLUG!"
Lexie comes out and gives us all the standard Salem doctor's look of death, "EJ... has taken a turn for the worse."
Sami panics, "OMG, Lexie, you're a doctor... or the closest thing to one around here... tell me, what is the humane thing to do?"
Apparently, the humane thing to do is stare.

And so it will take Sami what? Barely two episodes to decide to pull the plug on EJ? It took the family across the street at least 3 weeks to make their decision and that was after the doctors recommended it!!
I think I like Brady drunk and crazy. I mean that's when they do their best acting. Remember RoboJon? How many years before we saw the best acting of his life - only to last a few months before he was taken from us?
This is the worst storyline ever. I keep hoping Rafe goes bad, rogue, or something. It would make he a lot more interesting.
Oh Nicole. Please. EJ turned you out on your behind after you faked your baby rubber bumper pregnancy. Call a spade a spade for crying out loud.
Another crapfest. The title are at least now more interesting than the show. Well who am I kidding? They have always been better than the show. I heart you Prevuze!
One of my biggest pet peeves is illustrated in these scenes:
"Your secret is safe with me," says Sami. Rafe stands there.
Lexie leaves. Sami stares at Buzz, "OMG, please, no one can ever find out."
Just two more instances where, if people would quit talking about things OUT LOUD IN PUBLIC, maybe secrets would stay secrets.
The best LOL moment today for me: "OMG, Lexie, you're a doctor... or the closest thing to one around here... tell me, what is the humane thing to do?"
Apparently, the humane thing to do is stare.
The ticker tape crawl at the top was perfect. The pictures, especially of Chloe walking around with her hands glued to her tummy, were sublime. Thanks for the great recap, Prevuze.
I want them to pull the plug on all this EJ crap. Everyone coming in, bemoaning his state. Who wants to watch that? Kill the guy off or bring him back and get him away from the ladies. Let him go evil and go after Bo and hope or something.
I can't believe we are just at the beginning of this storyline and I'm already ready for it to end.
"I may have ended up hating him but I never wanted him to die. Except for when he was choking me."
…or when Nicole rushed off to the hospital with Chloe in tow to be there when EJ died. Nicole also declared something about Santa Claus granting her wish. Nicole ought to join Flip Floppers Anonymous.
No answer. "What," asks Brady, "Mummy got your tongue?"
OK – that line may make this episode worth watching. LOL!!!
"Your secret is safe with me," says Sami. Rafe stands there.
…along with everyone else in the Pub.
The camera pans to an earring on the floor by the sarcophagus.
Hmmmm – let me think like a DOOL writer. Vivian’s earring fell off in Maggie’s kitchen. Vivian was wearing those same earrings when Brady ensarcophagized her. Maggie will wander over to the mausoleum, find the earring, and rescue Vivian. Holy irony Batman! Geez!
"What's she supposed to do under the circumstances, sit around and have a leisurely breakfast at the pub?"
That would be preferable to having romp-a-thons with Rafe while spouting that her children mean everything to her during the breathers.
"I do hate you... bastard. Do everyone a favor and die!"
Arianna walks into the room, "Get the hell away from him!"
A cat fight in ICU. Sigh. Security should be dragging both of them out of EJ’s room. No hospital would allow EJ's room to be turned into Grand Central Station.
Maggie says Gus called her. She doesn't know why he called but told her to watch out.
There’s a neat little feature on a cell phone that keeps incoming numbers so you can return the call. Instead of discussing this with Brady and Victor, Maggie might want to call Gus and offer him tickets for a Bette Midler bath house concert.
Vivian starts to panic.
I have to give Vivian her props. Once the sarcophagus lid had been lowered, I would have been in full blown hysteria mode.
Sami panics, "OMG, Lexie, you're a doctor... or the closest thing to one around here... tell me, what is the humane thing to do?"
Apparently, the humane thing to do is stare.
OK – once again, it’s time to think like a DOOL writer. Sami will order life support be removed, EJ will start breathing on his own, and he will have heard all the bedside conversations. It’s not like anyone actually believes that EJ is going to die. It’s the ratings that are dying. Why would anyone in their right mind put a popular actor’s character in a coma for three freakin’ weeks? For gosh sakes, the guy keeps winning Adonis awards because the ladies love him. Those same ladies tune into DOOL to watch EJ walk and talk. This is a soap that’s on life support, and what do TPTB do? They turn Sami – played by a popular spunky prime time hostess/actress – into a psycho and EJ – played by a hunkalicious actor with a huge following – into a vegetable. How do you sell those moves to potential advertisers? The viewers certainly aren't buying into them.
Oh my Prevuze, you always get me good, lmao. I can only ever imagine what my coworkers think when I burst out laughing every morning. Then again I don't have to wonder, I'm sure they think I'm crazy b/c of that, lol.
Arianna should totally run Sami and Rafe over with the car instead. I would FLOVE to see that! Now that would be some must see tv.
I heart you Prevuze!
Aw... shucks, ma'am.
I think I like Brady drunk and crazy. I mean that's when they do their best acting. Remember RoboJon? How many years before we saw the best acting of his life - only to last a few months before he was taken from us?
Drunk Brady is far and away providing the best entertainment on the show right now. Others who usually step up to the plate are otherwise distracted with Viv freaked out in-sarcognito and Vic in lovestruck puppy mode.
Oh my Prevuze, you always get me good, lmao. I can only ever imagine what my coworkers think when I burst out laughing every morning. Then again I don't have to wonder, I'm sure they think I'm crazy b/c of that, lol.
I consider it one of Prevuze' great missions to systematically gaslight coworkers everywhere.
Maggie will wander over to the mausoleum, find the earring, and rescue Vivian. That's probably what they'll do for sure, Leslie. Although since this place seems to be one of Salem's biggest tourist attractions maybe Maggie will just turn the earring into the lost and found booth at the front gate.
I shot DiMera but I did not shoot the deputy Oh now THANKS, Prevuze, I'll probably have that tune stuck in my head all day!
What authority does Arianna have to have anyone tossed from the hospital?
"Complicated...uncomplicated...it doesn't matter. I'll spread it all over town either way." Maggie's got to take over that responsibility full-time now that Hope's in the slammer.
And speaking of Hope, I did enjoy the reaction of her cellmate yesterday when she realized she was in a cell with the town wacko. I'm surprised Hope didn't come up with the response she always gives Bo when he says anything to her: "How dare you speak to me like that!" Poor princess.
And, Applecheeks, another thing other than talking out loud in a public place these numbskulls do, how about Steponme and Ian breaking into a hospital security system while sitting in the middle of the pub?
Great Prevuisms today like Except for when I wanted to kill him for having that little fling with Bonnie and the stock ticker has helped make up for my getting a crummy cold during my vacation week. Thanks for helping my immune system, Prevuze and Happy Hump Day everyone.
Oh Bulldog, how I want Bonnie back :) I loved her ridiculousness. Watching her turn Chez-Rouge into a cowboy honky-tonk was hilariously great. Let's get rid of Adrienne and bring back Bonnie. I don't care how, let's just do it. Bonnie and Roman? Bonnie and Victor? Heck I'd even take Bonnie and Brady :P
well, the problem isn't so much that ej threw nicole out--i doubt anyone can argue with that logic-- but the fact that he threw the baby out along with her. that should give any woman pause that may consider pursuing a relationship with him, as it's simply an indecent and inhumane thing to do, regardless of the circumstances.
LOVED the stock ticker. Genius, Prevuze!
Maggie might find the earring, but she's not going to put 2+2 together because she just doesn't think along those lines. And I hope Brady rigs the cameras so Vivi gets an eyeful of Maggie and Victor. Watching Vivian's reaction to that pairing is almost as good as the pairing itself.
This is just too delicious. When we found out they were going to do the Buried Alive thing again I think most of us were seeing this as a bad idea of a repeated story. But the way they are doing it is just too much fun. I'm impressed with just how twisted Brady can be. I like it!
I LOVE Brady right now!! He is turning into the best part of the show. And I'm sure everyone has seen that Will is about to get thrown under the bus for shooting EJ. Will Sami keep quiet? The way the writing is going, absolutely. Because her kids mean so much to her. *Insert eye-roll here*
This sarcophagizing bussiness is way too much fun to pass up. If Maggie finds Vivian and un-sarcophagizes her, Vivian will return the favor and finally sarcophagize her, just as she had originally planned...but if she doesn't do something about raving drunken Brady, he's likely to tell Vic, who will find Maggs and un-sarcophagize her...Vivian, mad with jealousy will retaliate at them all, and sarcophagize Victor in turn! Phillip, who comes looking for his daddy gets sarcophagized next...then Mel, Nathan, Step-on-me...etc, etc...Heck, this sarcophagizing stuff could go on till November sweeps if we're lucky...
The other stuff on the show is way too depressing for me, so I chose not to get involved in it, for my sanity's sake(or what's left of it at this point!)
Thanks Prevuze for giving us our daily dose of hump-day snark!
I may be remembering wrong, but ddn't Will already shoot EJ once? That's when they shipped him off to Switzerland or Sweden right? Lucas took the fall for it, or some such nonsense?
I Love drunk Brady and love Vivienne. I wish Ivan was still with her and then hilarity would certainly ensue.
I think I like Brady drunk and crazy.
There's only one problem with drunk and crazy Brady - he's probably going to take the fall in some way, shape, or form, for Arianna being hit and killed. Whether or not he's actually driving the car, we'll probably have to wait until May sweeps of next year to find out, but mark my words - he'll be blamed for it.
but ddn't Will already shoot EJ once?
That story line was never precisely cleared up. As it was left however, if we are to take it at face value, Lucas shot EJ. Speculation swirled everywhere on bulletin boards and fan sites, especially Lumi fan sites, that it was Will, but the story never worked its way back to making him the shooter.
I'd like to add a bit to your stock ticker; Ejami merger cancelled, DAYS ratings down.
I am rather torn with DOOL lately. I feel like many of the actors & actresses on the show are not being used to their full potential. Nicole, though she has become a lush yet again, is not her usual snarky self. I want martini slugging, scheming bitch Nicole not weepy scared Nicole! And while I appreciate they are having Sami do something evil again, it's still not enough. The storyline is dull and not campy and fantastic like DOOL past...(We have the Vivian story for that I suppose, but remember when everything was connected to a DiMera or Kiriakis? Mad scientists, chips int he brain, etc.) Face it, Days, Sami's not the new Marlena. No one can be Marlena. And we used to love to hate Sami so stop portraying her as someone she is clearly not!!
I'm happy that most of Hope's storyline is finished, but I feel like "Night Hope" was completely wasted! The time I liked Hope best was when she was Princess Gina...and she was behaving similarly as lipstick Hope, yet Bo nor anyone else made the comparison? They could've tapped into something that veteran DOOL watchers would possibly want to watch...but alas...Nope. Just like when they brought Carly back all shady and murderous, within a week she was all lovey dovey with Bo and weak.... Her finest moments are when she's in a room with Vivian and/or Victor. Again, a great actress...underused.
And though she's going to be killed off soon, I'm sad to see Arianna go. A great soap actress stuck with a nothing part. But yet other useless characters like Roman hang around and take up space. (I could say the same for Rafe, to be honest...)
And when the Hell did Kate become the voice of morality in Salem? Kate, Vivian, Victor & Stefano are my only reasons for watching at all anymore. (Will give a shout out to Philip too, actually...Even Will now that he's going off on Sami left and right, much better than "Emo Will") And though it's interesting that Brady is going villain..it IS a rather sudden transformation, no? Guy takes up drinking and two days later he's running around being a jerk to everyone and burying Vivian alive.
I know soaps are predictable, but there used to be some entertainment value here...This EJ in a coma is a bunch of crap...the Sydnapping was crap...I want to see the rise of the DiMeras dammit! The old-school crazy evil DiMeras!
Oh and lastly...if Chad is going to be Stefano's son...can we get a new actor please? He is as wooden as Rafe....
I have a plot twist, grin. Have EJ die, then come back as a vampire -- he would make a better one than all the young actors out there. DOOL could use a vampire to bring some new blood into this mess.
Okay, Okay, I'm being silly but not as ridiculous as this whole storyline has been for two years.
Maybe all of this will be a nightmare -- after all, Sami said she was having a nightmare that night.
