A Long Trip To Nowhere

Stefano is with Sami and Rafe in the hospital waiting area. He's taunting Sami about wanting EJ to die, and says he's suspicious Sami did it even though she has an alibi from Rafe. He reminds Rafe, "You were sleeping. The person who did this will die in pain and alone." Stefano walks off. Sami and Rafe glue themselves to each other.

Daniel and Lexie are with EJ as Stefano walks in. Stefano asks how EJ is doing. "He's stable," says Daniel, "but is suffering from severe hair loss." Stefano wants to know when EJ will wake up. Daniel can't say, "Everything that can be done is being done." He leaves.

Carly and Chloe try to kick Vivian out of the pub. Vivian figures something is going on between them. She speculates, "Your bond — It's not brains and wit, so it must be a man." She turns to Chloe, "Carly doesn't know you were open to my suggestion." Then to Carly, "Why don't you let your new BFF tell you the details." Vivian leaves. Chloe says she has a fessup to make.

Melanie is with Maggie in her kitchen. Maggie says she thinks Vivian is jealous of her. Melanie is tickled about that and says Vivian had better stay out of her way.

Stefano sits by EJ, "What's the buzz, Buzz?" Lexie comforts him as Stefano says his life is in pieces. She wonders where Kate is. Stefano says he thinks she's off looking for Will, "I have to know..."

"If I could tell you I would," says Lexie, "We just have to prepare ourselves for whatever happens." Stefano tells her to go tend to her other unfortunate patients. Lexie sobs and leaves. Stefano stares.

Sami finds Daniel at the nurses' station, "Can I... uh... interact?"

"No," says Daniel, "But we can talk if you want. There has been no change. EJ may not wake up anytime soon. He has reduced brain activity, and he didn't have a lot to start with."

Sami says she's never been in a situation like this before, "If I have to make the decision to pull the plug, how do you know when It's OK? Like... when it's the right thing to do?"

Daniel asks, "When did you ever care about the right thing to do?"

"Pulling the plug is hard," says Sami, "Pulling the trigger is easy."

Back inside Buzz Lightyear's Star Command Stefano stares.

Stephanie watches as Ian has problems getting through the St. Mary's firewall. Stephanie, who can't turn a computer on without help, beats him up for not being able to get the job done.

Chloe and Carly have left the pub to get some privacy and they are at the dock. Chloe says she hopes Carly understands, "I was upset and emotional and Vivian tricked me into believing you were at that motel with Daniel."

"I know that," says Carly, "It's over now."

"Not quite," whines Chloe, "I owe you the truth about what I almost did to you."

Daniel tells Sami, "There are no easy answers, just easy women, thank God. I wish I could be definitive, but I can't." He leaves.

Stefano walks up to EJ and tells him fathers are not supposed to have a favorite son, "I did — you. I know we have fought, but it's because you are so good with words. Except 'Samantha.' When are you going to learn it's not 'Samanther? But we always come back together because of the love and the grandchildren." He bawls.

Vivian arrives back at the Kiriakis mansion and finds Phillip. Phillip says he's there to see her.

"So nice," beams Vivian, "The son comes to visit."

Phillip has a stroke, "I AM NOT YOUR SON! Stay away from my wife. I mean it. Final warning. Next time I will do whatever it takes to make sure you never see her again."

"All right," chirps Vivian, "I have enough on my hands with Isabella." She tells him about the sarcophagus caper.

"What's your game," asks Phillip, "Don't give me that blank stare."

Maggie insists this is just a little trip. She and Melanie decide they will miss each other. Melanie thinks Maggie is leaving because of Victor.

Rafe finds Sami. He tells her Stefano will never pull the plug so she will have to be the one to decide.

Stefano sobs, "You have to be strong. Do it for your family... Do it for your children... Do it for the Ejamis. I don't know who shot you, but they shot the wrong man. I should be lying here instead of you." We pan up to the ceiling for an artsy shot of despair.

Ian gets into the system. He says the change didn't come from Titan, "They came in from a different server unless it came from an internal source."

Stephanie wonders who did it. "OOHHHH MMMMYYYYY GOD!"

"Not me," says God, "I'm not very good with computers."

Maggie insists Victor has nothing to do with this. Melanie doesn't believe that. Maggie gets snotty and walks off. Melanie scowls.

Vivian insists she's not up to anything. "Wake up Vivian," screeches Phillip, "No one cares about you or what you think." Vivian says no one will give her a second chance. Phillip runs off the rails, "You tried to kill my wife and now came up with this ludicrous idea about a sarcophagus." Victor walks in and, as usual, wants to know what's going on.

Stefano says he will never give up on EJ. He orders him to fight, "I will find out who did this to you." He gives him a kiss. A manly kiss, "I love you. Fight!"

Sami frets about making the big decision. Rafe suggests she go in there and sit next to EJ and maybe that will help her to know what to do, "If he's gonna die anyway, why not just let him go? It will make life easier for everyone."

Melanie is at Daniel's place. She tells him about the shower, "If you're good, I'll invite you."

"I'll be as bad as I can," says Daniel. He wonders if Melanie and Chloe are getting close, "And with Chloe and Carly getting along it's like icing on the cake." Someone left that cake out in the rain for sure.

Stephanie thinks it was Chloe who changed the results. Ian asks, "Does she have the smarts to do that?"

"She's every bit as smart as I am," says Stephanie.

"I get it," says Ian, "In other words, she's about fifteen cents short of a dime."

"Right," says Stephanie, "She would need a friend's help."

"Like you."

"Yeah," says Stephanie, "and you're the best friend in the world." Translation: Biggest chump in the whole world. Stephanie says she has to make sure it was Chloe.

Chloe tells Carly, "I sorta tried to kill you."

Phillip tells Victor he's giving Vivian an earful about staying away from Melanie. Vivian stomps out.

Stefano stops Sami from going into EJ's room. Lexie says Sami has the right to go in there, "Do I have to call security."

"No," says Stefano, "don't wake them."

Stefano backs off and Sami goes in. Stefano turns to Rafe, "She's a pain in the butt."

"At least she didn't kidnap EJ's daughter," says Rafe, "For all we know the wrong DiMera got shot last night. Whoever did it... I wish they would have wiped out the entire DiMera clan."

Sami stands at EJ's bedside, "You are Johnny's dad. How could you... I can't believe I did this..." flashback. Tears.

Vivian comes into her bedroom, "I do care about you, Phillip — and Victor. Aside from Lawrence you're all I have. That's why Maggie is going on a long trip to nowhere."

Phillip wants to know why Vivian is still there. Victor says he doesn't want questions he can't answer. Phillip says he knows there is someone out there Victor can really love. He leaves.

Maggie gets on her computer and looks at a picture of Mickey, "I'm going on this trip for us, and not for whatever silly stuff is going on with Victor."

Mickey's ghost appears, "Melanie's right. You shouldn't go alone. Take Melanie with you. When you get out into the middle of the Atlantic, tie a line to her, toss her overboard and troll for sharks."

Ian thinks if Chloe is a blabbermouth she'll slip up and tell someone she changed the results. "I can't let that happen," says Stephanie.

Carly gasps, "You were going to kill me?"

"It was a mistake," whines Chloe.

"What did you try to do to me," asks Carly.

Lexie breaks up Rafe and Stefano. Abe and Kate comes in as Stefano rants about Rafe. Lexie fills Abe in and then hugs Stefano.

Sami cries and wonders what she has done. EJ twitches. Sami presses her own personal panic button:

"LEXIE! SOMEBODY!"

Rafe rushes in. Lexie follows, kicks Rafe and Sami out, and examines EJ.

Outside, Rafe tells Stefano EJ opened his eyes.

Stephanie says if Chloe changed the results she will talk to her and impress upon her how important it is not to tell anyone. Suddenly...

NATHAN!

Nathan sees Ian, "Why are you here again?"

"I should ask the same of you," says Ian, "Don't you have a job?"

Chloe ramps up the whine-o-matic, "If you find out you'll never speak to me again. You'll go to Daniel and tell him and he'll never speak to me again either."

Maggie drops by Daniel's apartment and gives him a present, "It's for the baby."

"Thanks," says Melanie, "And it's not even my birthday." Melanie tells Daniel Maggie may be going away, "And that would just break my heart, if I had one."

Gus and Vivian are in the crypt with the sarcophagus. Vivian says she's just playing with Maggie, "She's made her bed and will have to lie in it."

"She can lie almost anyplace," says Gus.

"You can't believe everything you hear, but you can repeat it." -Maggie Horton

Stefano thinks Sami wishes EJ hadn't opened his eyes, "You don't want him to make it because you will know what will happen."

Chloe reminds Carly the night of Victor and Vivian's wedding Carly ordered her to tell Daniel about her fling, "Vivian overheard and offered to help me take care of you. She got me in touch with a man who rigs elevators. That's wasn’t an accident. It was meant to kill you."

Carly gasps, "I'm shocked... you mean you actually got in an elevator not expecting to have sex?"

Ian leaves. Nathan says, "I never heard of Ian until recently and now he's here all the time. What's up with that?" Stephanie says he's still helping with the hospital software. Nathan doesn't buy it.

Melanie gets a call and leaves. Daniel questions Maggie about her trip. He thinks it seems sudden. Maggie says this trip was something she planned with Mickey so she thought it would be comforting to go. Daniel doesn't think it will work, "I think it will be difficult."

"You lost your wife," says Maggie, "so you do have experience with grief. You could be right." Daniel wants to know if there is another reason she's leaving.

Victor is gruff, "It's dangerous to disobey me."

We pan out and see he's talking to Ciara, "So I'm going to give you an order and you'd better do it. I order you to have fun today." He chases her out of the room in a scene suspiciously reminiscent of the one in the godfather chasing the kid right before he croaked.

Sami insists she doesn't want EJ to die. Stefano thinks she would want to have the kids to herself. Lexie comes out. Stefano rushes up to her, "Did he wake up?"

"Yes," says Lexie, "And he said something strange, 'To infinity... and beyond.'"

"Will he be all right," asks Stefano.

Lexie gives the Salem doctor's look of death.
