Carrier Pigeon

Folks, I'm so far out in the boondocks I don't think I could send in a report by carrier pigeon right now. Please try again later today.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks
People put me down 'cause
That's the side of town I was born in
I love her she loves me but I don't fit in her society
Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks

Ev'ry night I watch the lights from the house up on the hill
I love a little girl who lives up there and I guess I always will
But I don't dare knock on her door
'Cause her daddy is my boss man
So I have to try to be content
Just to see her when ever I can

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks
People put me down 'cause
That's the side of town I was born in
I love her she loves me but I don't fit in her society
Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks

One fine day I'll find the way to move from this old shack
I'll hold my head up like a king and I never never will look back
Until that morning I'll work and slave
And I'll save ev'ry dime
But tonight she'll have to steal away
To see me one more time

Down in the boondocks
Down in the boondocks
People put me down 'cause
That's the side of town I was born in
I love her she loves me but I don't fit in her society
Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks
Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks
Lord have mercy on the boy from down in the boondocks

Sorry, Billy Joe Royal made me do it.

With nothing else to comment on except the horror of getting into work and having no Prevuze to start my day (but a darned annoying song to run through my head), I'm offerring the origin of the word "boondocks". Found this one on wordwizard.com. And, Leslie made me do it.

" 'Bundock’ is the word for ‘mountain’ in Tagalog, the Indonesian language of the Philippines. During the U.S. occupation there, American soldiers extended its meaning to include any rough back country, corrupting the word to ‘boondocks’ in the process. After World War II, marines brought ‘boondocks’ home with them and it became the name for difficult terrain on the fringes of training camps. These remote areas naturally suggested the ‘sticks,’ rural areas where there is similarly little to do and but work and be bored, and “boondocks’ began to be applied to them as well. The word is most frequently heard in the expression ‘out in the boondocks,’ way out in the sticks."

Now use the word in a sentence that will be meaningful to DAZED viewers. For example, "Some Barney Fife out in the boondocks has a better chance of solving a crime than the detectives of the SPD."

Extra points for working in your word verification. For example, in my case, "Some Barney Fife out in the boondocks, twiddling his erogi has a better chance....etc."

I'll check back in later and WILL grade on the curve.

Out in the boondocks a lone DiMera minion is still waiting for instructions on what to do with that gescalma hidden under a tarp.

Good luck, Prevuze!

I'll be back to see if you got to post. I too need my daily Prevuze to get the day started at work.

Thanks for continuing to post Prevuze for us while you're out on your vacation.

One issue, and there are many, that Dazewatchers have is that very often a character may seem like they are far from Salem - you know down in the boondocks, out in the sticks, whatever - but it takes a mere nanosecond for someone to pop in (often times without plane reservations, passports, or little annoyance the real world is subjected to)and it make the viewers go holy "haboli" how'd they get there from the pub, in the same clothes they've been wearing for a week, so fast?

And Applecheeks - I am challenged from actually watching the show despite my daily morning dose of Prevuze (withdrawal pang!) so I expect accommodations, as all good schools are subjected to offer, applied to my curve and final grade.

OMG, I've got the shakes. I can't deal with withdrawal, even if it is only 1 day. I'm going to have to get some medical intervention if I am expected to continue with my working day. Does anyone have any of those candy pills that Hope takes??

This is all your fault Prevuze. You deserve a vacation away from whatever you want to be away from, but because of your column you've created a bunch of little zombies, walking around spouting Prevuisms and singing silly old Billy Joe Royal songs (I prefer "Cherry Hill Park"). We are programmed to read you every. It is impossible not to read you. I think you are secretly sending out subliminal messages in your column, and you are hypnotizing us to follow you like a cult leader.

Quick, somebody send a car out to the Horton cabin and bring Prevuze back from the boondocks so they can "blegen" us with the daily tripe that Higley and crew are serving up for tomorrow.

Don't drink the Kool aid!! Being forced to watch todays episode should do the trick!

Brand new poster here. Did any of you consider the no post today is actually a cover up? He/She knows we are all waiting for the latest. We can't eat, sleep, work until we know if Chloe's baby daddy is Daniel or Phillip....or....someone else...(think Brady). I'll bet He/She knows and is keeping it from us. I think we're being toyed with.

Here are your grades by little Prevuzites. So far no one has flunked outright. But there are untold thousands of minions out there who didn't post who will receive an "incomplete".

Leslie gets a pass since she submitted her comment before the assignment was given.

Robin, Leta and various Anonymi - C (you commented, which was good, but failed to use the assigned word)

LeeLeigh - B+ (although you didn't use 'boondocks' you did reference Billy Joe Royal by name which gave you the "B". The plus came from realizing Prevuze is using subliminal messages to keep us hooked.)

Bulldog & Wingnut'75 - A (excellent use of 'boondocks')

bGirl - A+ (not only used the magic word, but reminded me that 'accomodations' need to be made for Prevuze readers)

And by "by little Prevuzites" in the previous post I meant "my little Prevuzites".

No matter how carefully I proofread....

Anonymous -- too late, I drank the Kool aid. However, I promptly threw it up after watching the ever changing ways to wear that ridiculous outfit Sami is wearing.

And Applecheeks, I missed the fact you were quizzing us. Can I take a make-up test?

Billy Joe Royal also sang "Cherry Hill Park" (a few lyrics below)

"Mary Hill used to hang out in Cherry Hill Park
The games she played lasted all day till way after dark
now all the girls just criticized her, but all the guys just idolized her
'cuz Mary Hill was such a thrill after dark in Cherry Hill Park

Mary Hill loved to ride the merry go round
all the guys got eager eyes watching Mary go round
now in the daytime Mary Hill was a teaser
come the night she was such a pleaser
Mary Hill was such a thrill after dark in Cherry Hill Park."

Billy Joe Royal was a man before his time. How could anyone write a song during the 60's that fits perfectly with our Salem girls of forty years later??? sheer genius.

Tomorrow I start reading Prevuze while wearing my "Anti-Subliminal Message/Anti-Hypnosis Glasses" You ain't gonna get me anymore, Prevuze! I'm on to you.
