That Evil Slimebucket

Sami paces in the rumpus room and ponders EJ's engagement ring. Roman shows up, "Is this a bad time?"

"In my world, there is no such thing as a good time. If I accidentally have one, I'll screw it up and turn it into a bad time." says Sami. Roman tells her they arrested Baker.

A cop escorts Baker into the rubber hose room. "I could use a lawyer," shouts Dick.

EJ sits in the corner of the room, "I'm a lawyer. I'm here to make sure justice is served."

Carly arrives at Bo and Hope's house. She finds Julie and the temperature drops to absolute zero. With temperatures at that level, hell freezes over and Carly and Julie actually have a conversation. Julie says she wishes she knew what was going on, "Bo left with Hope and has not called. Something is terribly wrong."

Bo tries to convince Hope to get a lawyer. Hope says she doesn't deserve to be defended, "I need to go away for a long time."

"I second that," says Bo.

"If you want to do what's best for our daughter," says Hope, "you won't stand in my way. Or else I'll burn your butt to a crisp and slice you to ribbons.

Brady is at the pub contemplating a glass of scotch. He drinks.

Roman has told Sami about Hope. Sami can't believe Baker is alive, "I saw the body."

"He's a doctor," says Roman, "He knows how to fake death." Roman tells Sami about Hope's pills, "Usually with sleeping pills there are no side effects. I just wanted to say that so we could leave the door open for sleeping pill product placement."

"Pushing sleeping pills on this show would be redundant," says Sami. She offers to help with Ciara, "I'd like to step in and help Bo and Hope with some of that load. I have a whole flock of babysitters I can pawn Ciara off on." She continues to rant about Baker. Roman tells her he's been arrested. Sami says, "EJ will make Baker wish he was never born."

"Most of us wish EJ was never born," says Roman.

Baker tries to kick EJ out, but EJ ignores him and runs through a litany of Baker's crimes. Baker calls for the guard. "Nobody is coming," says EJ, "It's just you and me. We need to get to know each other."

Bo tries to convince Hope to stop beating herself up. Hope beats away anyway. Bo wants her to fight for Ciara's sake. Hope says, "That's all I've ever wanted. That and a fling with Patrick." Bo says he will always believe in her. Carly stands at the door and listens.

Brady swills booze and remembers his fight with Nicole. Arianna comes up and grabs his glass, "What the hell are you doing?"

Carly joins the party in the interrogation room. Bo asks for another minute alone, but Hope vetoes it. Justin arrives and asks what's going on.

Roman asks about Sami's pending proposal from EJ. Sami don' wanna' talk about it. So they talk. She says they both love their children and that's the end of it. She says she told EJ she's not ready to get married. If we wait until the emotional pre-teen is ready, the wedding will be held at the Salem Sunny Acres Old Folks Home. Roman wants to know if Sami realizes how this makes him feel. Sami insists he's treating her like a victim.

Roman erupts, "If you are stupid enough to marry this man, not only are you a victim, but your kids will also suffer."

EJ sneers, "You're a pig. You switch babies to fund your gambling habit."

Baker reminds EJ he lives in a glass house, "You impregnated two women at the same time and you owe me. Without me you wouldn't have spent the first year of that kid's life with her."

EJ thinks Baker has a point there, "Maybe you have elevated my consciousness about that. Maybe, in return, I will spare your life, but I want something in return."

Hope talks to Justin about what she has done. Justin tries to defend her but Hope won't have it, "I deserve to suffer for what I've done as much as people suffer for being around me." You have (say it with her) been there for me through everything. I am so grateful to you and I am so sorry."

Bo and Carly are at the pier. Carly says she understands Bo going to Hope's aid. Bo asks, "Once those pills are out of Hope's system, will be herself again?"

"Yep," says Carly, "She'll be the same old mean, nasty shrew you've known for all these years."

Arianna stops Brady from going for more booze. Brady tells her to butt out as Melanie walks in.

EJ offers a deal, "What you have to do is keep Nicole's name out of this."

Baker can't believe it, "Nicole? The Nicole that faked her pregnancy and lied to you? You want to protect that bitch? I thought you hated her." Sami walks in.

Carly thinks this must be painful for Bo, too. He insists Hope and Ciara are the ones who are suffering. Carly thinks it may take time for Hope to come around. "How much time," asks Bo.

"Fifteen to twenty if my prayers are answered," says Carly, "You'll come through this because you are family. You have each other."

Justin wants Hope to get a lawyer, "Unfortunately, I can't recommend one since I don't know any good lawyers."

Hope refuses, "I'm pleading guilty. That will be easier on my daughter. I won't have her testifying or suffering any more than she already has." Baaawwwlllll...

Brady snatches his glass back. Melanie congratulates him on falling off the wagon. She drops the sarcasm as Arianna tells him he can't handle this, "This is about Nicole says Arianna. What did she do to you?"

When she sees Baker, Sami blows her fragile stack. EJ backs her off, "He can't get us any more."

Baker reads between the lines, "US? YOU TWO? REALLY? Chuckle. Wow." Sami charges like a raging bull. EJ holds her back. Baker says, "If you think I made your life a living hell, you stick with this sick bastard your life is shot to hell."

Bo tells Carly he's glad she's there. Carly says she feels partially responsible for what has happened. She says she won't ask his forgiveness because he has other fish to fry right now. Bo thanks her for understanding

"I love you," says Carly.

Carbos sit on the edge of their seats. Time passes... a glacier whizzes by... Silent Bo hugs her... Carbos hold their breath...

Finally they can't stand it and they scream in unison, "FOR GOD'S SAKE, BO, SAY IT!"

"I love you," says Bo.

Finally Carbos exhale and can breathe again.

Hope cries and says Ciara knows mommy is going away for a long, long time. Justin offers to do whatever he can to help. Hope thanks him, "You are always (say it with her) there for me. Thank you. Maybe you could somehow help me face the people I love. I don't know how I will do that. I don't think I can." Baaawwwlllll...

Julie tells Doug Ciara keeps asking questions, "I'm OK with her asking about her mommy, but she just asked me where babies come from. What should we tell her?"

Doug thinks it over, "Tell her in Salem we know where they come from, we just usually don't know who they come from."

Arianna begs Brady to tell her about Nicole, "She hurt you didn't she?"

"How did you find out we had rough sex," asks Brady.

Melanie isn't surprised, "HA! Nicole hurt you... Who didn't see that coming?"

Brady wants to know if Arianna doesn't have something better to do. He suggests she go get a job, "Your name is clear. They caught the mugger."

"Who is it," inquiring minds want to know.

Sami lectures Baker, "You set us up you sick bastard."

Baker wonders what happened to Rafe.

Sami snorts, "What happened to him is you ruined everything."

Baker asks, "Did I, COLLEEN?" A referee throws a flag and penalizes Baker for unsportsmanlike conduct. "With all the lies you told, you're lucky you wound up with that little baby to love and raise."

That does it. Smokin' Sami lunges at Baker, but EJ grabs her and holds her back. Baker continues, "I protected you from him... that evil slimebucket father of the baby. By the way, comrade, those were her words... not mine. And I know what she's going to say... that you've somehow changed or morphed into a human being..." EJ grabs his lapels and says he's losing patience. "Let go of me," screams Baker.

"If you have a death wish," says EJ, "I'll validate it for you."

Justin leaves. Hope broods. Outside, Justin and Bo share cross words and Bo goes back in to Medusa's chamber.

Melanie and Arianna are dumbfounded, a condition they are both used to, "Hope Brady and Dr. Baker!" Melanie thinks this is good news because it frees Arianna. Brady steps out of his drunken fog and agrees. He says he feels bad for Bo and Hope but not as bad as he would if he weren't plastered. He suggests Arianna go to the station and make her new-found freedom official. She leaves. Melanie asks if Brady is OK. Brady is so numb he'd be OK if an asteroid dropped out of the sky and hit him, "Don't you think Phillip should know about Hope?"

Melanie starts to call Phillip but sees she has a text saying her mom needs to meet her at home, "But I'm not going."

"It sounds urgent to me," says Brady. In that case, Melanie decides to go, and tells him to make sure he takes care of himself, "You know I will always (say it with her) be there for you, right?"

"I do," says Brady. Melanie leaves. Brady swills.

Baker reminds EJ he kept his end of the bargain. Roman comes in and Sami pries EJ off Baker.

Justin comes into the pub. Brady continues to guzzle. Justin says, "Hope is being really brave, not to mention stupid." He tells Brady the pills did it, "They brought on all that anger and pain."

"Anger and pain can drive you to do things you never knew you had in you," says Brady.

Carly and Melanie talk in Maggie's kitchen. Carly says she wants to help Ciara but thinks it would be inappropriate for her to reach out. Melanie thinks Carly is really kind, as long as there is no butcher knife handy, "This is a really sad and confusing time for you too." Hugs.

Hope says it's time for booking. "Right," says Bo, "If I were you' I'd book."

Sami and EJ are back in the rumpus room. Sami continues her rant, "If you had murdered baker on the spot I would have cheered." She leaves.

"Spoken like a true DiMera," says EJ.

Melanie serves tea, "Is it OK that I'm worried about my mom?"

"It's OK," says Carly, "And sweet. And out of character for you." Carly reminds her that Bo and Hope are married and might have been able to work things out if she hadn't butted in.

Melanie says, "I know I've given you a hard time lately, but you never gave up on me and stopped caring. You have a big heart so will you do me a favor? Will you see yourself as I see you and give yourself a break?"

Roman joins Bo and Hope, "It's time..." Bo tells him he'll take care of it. Roman leaves. Bo escorts stunned Hope out.

Sami and EJ come back to the rumpus room. Sami is chuckling over EJ's humiliation of trying to sing a lullaby for Sydney, "Johnny said his ears hurt."

"How about that," asks EJ, "We have an honest child."

"I've never thought of myself being that honest," says Sami, "But it's kind of ironic. Our children are teaching us to be honest. Lots has come between us and now all we have between us is the truth. And a mountain of cluelessness."

Arianna comes in to see Roman. He says he was about to call and has good news. He reminds her he supported her all along.

"You're not the one who owes me an apology," says Arianna.

Hope takes off her jewelry, "Make sure this all gets back to QVC for a special 'Hope sendoff' sale." A cop fingerprints her. She poses for her mug shot as her world sinks into a Hopeless black hole of despair.
