That Vile, Trashy Woman
Before we get started, here are a few of the... ahem... highlights from yesterday's 'lost' episode...
Kate warns Phillip to keep Vivian away from the wedding.
Chloe studies for her pregnancy test.
Vivian wonders if Melanie is in love with someone other than Phillip. She figures out it's Nathan.
Carly slips on the sidewalk and hits her head. Don't worry, the sidewalk isn't damaged.
Daniel tells Brady odds are against Chloe becoming pregnant.
Hope goes back to her job on the police force. Abe plays marriage counselor.
Lexie tells Bo Carly fell. Carly, of course, has that old standby... temporary amnesia.
Vivian demands Melanie marry Phillip. Melanie accuses her of being bossy.
Daniel asks Lucas to let Chloe spend time with Allie. Lucas suggests Daniel give Chloe a child of her own to mess up.
Kate tells Hope Vivian is up to something.
Brady gives Arianna his mom's bracelet — in a ring box, which causes the requisite moment of confusion.
Daniel tells Carly she fell at Victor's house. Carly wonders what she was doing there.
Melanie decides to take the plunge with Phillip.
And now, before you burst from all the excitement, today's thrilling installment...
Chloe stands in her bedroom and reads the results of her pregnancy test, "This is the worst thermometer I ever had. I still can't figure out what my temperature is."
Carly is in the hospital after her fall. Daniel is with her. He advises her to stay away from Victor as he gets a page and leaves. Carly sits alone and wonders, "Why was I at Victor's? Why can't I figure this out?"
Kate finds Stefano standing in the rumpus room in a robe. He says he's not going to the wedding. "But I've made arrangement for two," says Kate.
"Well, there are a lot of guys standing around the local gas station looking for a free meal," says Stefano, "Why don't you grab one of them and take him to the wedding?"
"It would be just like old times," says Kate, "I could work a little business and make enough to pay for the wedding gift."
"I'm surprised you got your son something that cheap," says Stefano.
"In any event," says Kate, "I'm not putting up with your petulance any longer."
Victor tells Phillip he threw Kate out. He says he's accepted Melanie and wants the marriage to work out, "I'm not letting anyone screw up your wedding. Except me."
Vivian cradles the deadly present and flashes forward to the poison-tip-icide.
Melanie broods as Vivian comes into the bedroom. Melanie tells her Phillip was very sweet and Vivian encourages her, "Just live every day as if it were your last. So you are marrying Phillip?"
"Yeah," says Melanie, "He loves me for who I am. An irritating little Internet porn star..." Vivian gives her the gift and Melanie opens it.
Hope is at the cop-shop. She calls, leaves a message for Bo, and then remembers bumping into Vivian, "What are you up to, Vivian? What was in that bag?"
Carly remembers her conversation with Kate, "That's it. Vivian knows. That's why I was at the Kiriakis mansion. I wanted to protect Melanie."
Melanie opens the deadly tiara and we have a staredown.
Carly huffs, puffs and picks up the phone to call Bo. She begs Bo to pick up, "It's me. Vivian knows about Melanie. You have to save my daughter."
Justin meets Hope at the pub. Hope tells him about her conversation with Kate, and then running into Vivian. Hope figures Melanie is Carly's daughter and Vivian knows it. Huzzah.
Kate says, "I want your support in my fight with that vile, trashy woman." Stefano offers to make a calla and have Vivian eliminated.
Melanie gushes over the gift. Vivian gushes back, "I want your wedding to be one no one will ever forget." She starts to commit tiara-cide as Stephanie and Arianna bubble in.
Stephanie proposes a toast, "To the bride! Long may she live."
Vivian is unenthusiastic, "Hear-hear."
Lucas is downstairs with Phillip where everything is set up for the wedding. He runs through his preliminary plans for the practical jokes, "You know what would be really great? Do you remember what they did to the punch in Porky's?" He asks if Phillip thinks Melanie is over Nathan.
Nathan is on the phone telling Stephanie he will pick her up after the wedding, "Give Phillip and... uh... uh... Melanie my best."
Stephanie hangs up and thinks that over, "Just because he can't say her name doesn't mean anything."
Chloe stares at the test results and beams, "We're having our very own baby, Daniel."
Melanie declines more champagne, "It's going right to my head."
"That shouldn't be a problem," says Arianna, "There's a lot of room for it up there."
Melanie and Arianna go off to the side and discuss how to get Vivian to leave. "All she talks about," says Melanie, "is a comb she wants to put in my hair."
Vivian solves the problem and offers to go on her own. She leans over to Melanie, "Don't let anyone touch the comb. It's delicate. And I want to wish you a happy... voyage."
Melanie scowls, "A voyage?"
Vivian says, "A spiritual journey."
Carly calls and leaves a message for Melanie telling her to beware of Vivian, "Your life could depend on it."
Melanie tells Arianna it was like Vivian was saying 'goodbye' not 'congratulations.' Melanie frets about Vivian being so weird. Arianna offers her more champagne as Melanie continues to rant about Vivian. Stephanie picks up the tiara and Melanie freaks.
Out in the audience, a viewer asks her neighbor, "I wonder if there is any Hope they could pass it around and we could get rid of all three of them at once?"
Outside, Vivian tells Gus she could strangle Carly for putting her in this situation. 'Augustine' tells her Carly is in the hospital. Vivian says she doesn't want to go through with the killing if Carly is unconscious.
Maggie sits at her kitchen table and opens a box. Inside, she finds a locket. She opens it and sees Mickey's picture on one side and Bonnie's on the other. She also finds a string of pearls inside. She picks the pearls up and starts to put them on, but the string breaks apart and the pearls scatter all over the kitchen. Maggie falls apart, "That Mickey always was such a cheap SOB."
Nathan walks into Carly's room and finds her getting dressed. He covers up the hole in the wall that Dr. Daniel is peeping through and tells her she can't leave. Carly says she has to get to Melanie and will discharge herself.
Hope says she can't imagine Carly hooking up with Trent. Justin reminds her she married Lawrence. "No," says Hope, "Trent was dangerous — like a disease. It really is a possibility that Melanie could be Carly's daughter."
Ciara overhears the conversation, "Yes, Mommy, she is."
Melanie continues to freak as Vivian walks in and sees Stephanie with the tiara. Vivian out-freaks Melanie, "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?"
Lucas talks to Phillip about his conversation with Melanie. He wonders if she is still interested in Nathan. Phillip lectures him for bringing up Nathan to Melanie in the first place. Lucas says, "Look, I just want to make sure you don't make the same mistake I made with Chloe. And Nicole... and Sami... and Carrie..."
Nathan tries to calm Carly down and says he will deliver her message to Melanie. He threatens, "I'll go get a couple of orderlies to help me if that's what it takes to keep you here."
"It might work," says Carly, "But it really depends on how good-looking they are." Carly gets in bed and Nathan leaves. Carly immediately jumps up and goes back to work.
Ciara says, "I heard Carly tell Daddy that Melanie was her daughter when I was watching them suck face and grope each other over the Internet." She runs back to Grandma for more cookies. Hope and Justin take the word of a kid pumped up on a cookie high and decide they need to get to Melanie before Vivian does.
Melanie tells Vivian to dial it down. Vivian says she came back for her bag. She gets it and Arianna escorts both bags out.
Vivian and Gus hang out outside the door. Gus says he has to leave. "I can't waver now that we are so close," says Vivian, "I have to be strong for Lawrence."
Stefano makes a call and "arranges things." Kate is awestruck at his power and connections. Stefano brags, "I was once offered a million for my Rolodex."
"That's a lot of money for a watch," says Kate. Stefano decides to go to the wedding. "You'd better be nice to Phillip," says Kate.
"I'm always nice to him," says Stefano, "It drives him crazy."
Nathan tells Maxine to check in on Carly every once in a while, "I think I talked her down."
Carly finishes dressing.
Gus, dressed in an orderly's uniform, brushes by Nathan as he leaves.
Carly opens the door and peers out just as Gus gets there, "Nice to see you again, Dr. Manning." Carly turns and darts back into the room. Gus follows.
Daniel gets home from a rough day of peeping and groping. He flops on the bed and tells Chloe he had a long day and won't be able to go to the wedding. Chloe comes out with the big news but finds Daniel asleep.
Carly runs across the room. She tries to dive over the bed, but Gus pounces and chloroforms her.
Melanie stands in her wedding dress and the girls admire her. Melanie signs, "Let's get Vivian."
Arianna says, "OK, she can put the comb in and then we'll get her out of your hair — No pun intended." Arianna goes to get Vivian, but Vivian busts in as Arianna opens the door, "Are we ready?"
Phillip tells Lucas he thinks marrying Melanie is the right thing. Lucas backs off and toasts. "My family doesn't phase her," says Phillip.
"That's because they haven't tried to kill her yet," says Lucas.
"I think she's safe," says Phillip, "Let's face it. She's not going to heaven and the devil sure doesn't want her."
Hope realizes now that she's back on the force she has to handle Vivian differently, "Hope the citizen could have tied her up and done other things to her, but Hope the cop can only be incompetent about it." Justin wonders if Carly knows Vivian is up to something. Hope thinks she must since Vivian is always up to something. She asks Justin to keep an eye on Ciara while she goes into action, "Don't worry. Vivian has no idea I'm on to her." Justin leaves. So much for keeping an eye on Ciara.
Back in the kitchen, Ciara has her 22nd cookie. Sami walks in and books her for The Biggest Loser in a couple years.
Hope calls Bo again and leaves another message, "It's about Carly."
Gus covers Carly's unconscious body and wheels her out on a gurney and into an elevator.
Lucas and Phillip talk about the things Kate might do. They figure she'll behave at the wedding. "What could go wrong," asks Lucas.
Kate says, "Thanks to you, Vivian won't know what hit her."
"I love to see you happy," says Stefano.
"You spoil me," Kate cuddles up to him, "We keep growing closer."
Stefano asks, "So could you do me a favor. If you feel you have to deal with Melanie the same as you did with Chloe... could you share?"
Kate asks, "I can trust you that much?"
"Yes," says Stefano, "you can."
Victor joins Hope. They banter about all the activity at the Kiriakis mansion and Victor says he just had to get away from it. Hope says she's sorry she can't make it. Victor understands, "It's not as if it's Phillip's first wedding, and I wouldn't lay odds it will be his last."
"Oooohhh," says Hope, "You're in a terrible mood. Did something happen?"
Vivian starts to place the lethal tiara on Melanie's head but a call from Maggie interrupts. Melanie takes the call and Maggie says, "I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling well. It's nothing serious, but I don't think I'll be able to make it to your wedding."
Melanie gasps, "NO!"
Kate says Stefano can trust her also. She cuddles up a bit more, "So can't you destroy the evidence you have against me?"
"Don't be ridiculous," chuckles Stefano.
"It was worth a shot," says Kate. She asks what Stefano will do to Vivian. Stefano asks, "Don't you want to be surprised?"
Victor says his house is full of chatter, "I don't like chatter."
"You came to the wrong table," chatters Hope, "But if you don't like it... you invited Vivian into your house."
"Seemed like a good idea at the time," growls Victor.
Hope asks, "Victor... is there something you'd possibly like to tell me about Vivian?" Victor stares. Hope stares.
Melanie begs Maggie to come late if she can. Maggie declines. Melanie says she understands, "I love you."
"I love you, too," says Maggie, "Forgive me for disappointing you."
"I'll call you after," says Melanie.
"Don't be silly," says Maggie, "Just have a wonderful day. We'll talk when you're Mrs. Phillip Kiriakis." Maggie hangs up and blubbers.
Melanie zones out, "I can't do this."
Carly lies on the floor in a warehouse, "Where am I."
Gus walks up, "Six feed under. Does it bring back memories?"

I am now cleaning up the Diet Coke I just spewed all over my desk!!! Tooooooo funny!!!!!!!
"Yeah," says Melanie, "He loves me for who I am. An irritating little Internet porn star..."
I still can’t figure out Phillip’s attraction to Melanie.
Stefano offers to make a call and have Vivian eliminated.
No Stefano!! The vile trashy woman is Melanie, and she’s the one that needs to be eliminated – pronto!!!
He asks if Phillip thinks Melanie is over Nathan.
Good going Lucas! That’s just what a bridegroom wants to be questioned about on his wedding day. Is your intended still hung up on another guy? Duh!!
Out in the audience, a viewer asks her neighbor, "I wonder if there is any Hope they could pass it around and we could get rid of all three of them at once?"
I definitely echo that viewer's sentiments. If Hope can be added to that little grouping, it would even be better.
Stefano brags, "I was once offered a million for my Rolodex."
"That's a lot of money for a watch," says Kate.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Victor understands, "It's not as if it's Phillip's first wedding, and I wouldn't lay odds it will be his last."
If nothing else, Victor is certainly a pragmatist.
This is a sweeps month, and DOOL is show casing Melanie’s wedding and Chloe’s pregnancy – sigh. Tiara-cide indeed!! Go for it Vivian!! On the other hand, Kate and Stefano are a hoot! Talk about a perfect match!
We’re supposed to be getting snowmageddon today so I’m really glad that Prevuze was able to dig out the satellite dish. Dealing with the snow without Prevuze would have been far too much to bear!
Thanks for saving an hour of my time tomorrow Prevuze!!! I will return to my regularly scheduled dool nap...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
this should be intersting
Judi Evans (Adrienne) is set to return to Salem ooh the drama
Is it just me or did anyone else think Lucas (Bryan D.) had left the show already? Because I wouldn't be surprised if he just disappeared with maybe an after thought of a one line explanation from one the characters.
Is it just me or did anyone else think Lucas (Bryan D.) had left the show already? Because I wouldn't be surprised if he just disappeared with maybe an after thought of a one line explanation from one the characters.
Glad things are up and running. thanks prevuze
Here’s a HUH?! from yesterday: Brady gives Arianna his mom's bracelet.
Wouldn’t he have given it to the love of his life – Chloe – long before this? This show is always coming up with priceless family heirlooms to be distributed to second, third, fourth spouses/fiancés. I always wonder why they didn’t go to the first.
Then there is the HUH?! at the beginning of today’s show. Stefano refuses to go to the wedding. Since the “real” Stefano would go in a heartbeat, just to see the Kate-Vivian-Victor show, this is obviously just a stupid time-killing scene.
Of course, the biggest HUH?! of all is how in the world Vivian can think she’ll get away with killing Melanie with the poison comb? She’s made such a big deal about the “present” and her fingerprints are all over it. Arianna and Stephanie both know the comb is from her. If nothing else Victor would know she defied him and went after the girl.
And how about that crack cop, Hope? She has to run off, leaving Ciara, to "save" Melanie from Vivian. Then, rather than going to where folks are getting ready for the wedding, she sits in the Brady Pub and fidgets??
At least our snow-ageddon was a bust, it's sunny outside, and Prevuze was there with the snark and the pics (1/2 ton of prosthetics, HA). Live long and prosper Prevuze!
Thanks to this Prevuism it brought up a rather disturbing image:Chloe stands in her bedroom and reads the results of her pregnancy test, "This is the worst thermometer I ever had." Just where DID she put that pregnancy test?? HAHAHAHAHA
"Do you remember what they did to the punch in Porky's?" No, but it brings up several more disturbing images.
Yeah, Kate. If you want to get back in Phillip's good graces, show up at the wedding with the man who tried to off him.
Nearly arroused suspicion of my coworkers laughing at the pearls scatter all over the kitchen. Maggie falls apart, "That Mickey always was such a cheap SOB."
Thank goodness Prevuze was back in perfect form today! Thanks for the laughs and happy Tuesday everyone!
I am now cleaning up the Diet Coke I just spewed all over my desk!!! Tooooooo funny!!!!!!!
You have no idea to what extent I hope comments like this are not merely metaphorical in nature. I never said I don't have a mean streak.
"Yeah," says Melanie, "He loves me for who I am. An irritating little Internet porn star..."
I still can’t figure out Phillip’s attraction to Melanie.
Let's put it this way. It has far more to do with the "porn star" part than the "irritating" part.
We’re supposed to be getting snowmageddon today so I’m really glad that Prevuze was able to dig out the satellite dish.
If you check out Prevuze II, you'll see the picture was terrible but at least the audio was good. I'm good to go as long as I can hear the sound. In fact, sometimes not being able to see the picture makes it a much better experience.
For you early readers, sorry about all the Carly-Carrie-Chloe name mix-ups. I use a lot of auto-correction functions to type Prevuze and to those Chloe, Carrie and Carly kind of look the same. Add to those an episode like this one where we've got Stefano and Stephanie and the posting just becomes one giant Word Jumble puzzle.
~Why is Stefano even invited to the wedding?
~I wonder how long it'll take Melanie to realize Carly is her mother. Everyone will probably know before she does.
Melanie declines more champagne, "It's going right to my head."
I thought Melanie was 19 or so. Now she's 21?
Melanie scowls, "A voyage?"
Vivian says, "A spiritual journey."
All this word play and whatnot isn't really all that clever.
Vivian says she doesn't want to go through with the killing if Carly is unconscious.
What? She'll wake up to nothing and that would be incredibly amusing... in a morbid way.
Carly turns and darts back into the room. Gus follows.
Because boxing yourself in a corner is the smart thing to do.
OK, she can put the comb in and then we'll get her out of your hair
Again, how is a tiara supposed to poison someone!? Are the corners so sharp that it'll break the skin? Or is it supposed to poison through her hair? Bleh.
"That's because they haven't tried to kill her yet," says Lucas.
I admit, I lol'd.
"Yes," says Stefano, "you can."
No, you can't. But please do so anyway.
Is it just me or did anyone else think Lucas (Bryan D.) had left the show already.
Not just you. I thought he left the country on 'business' or something.
Then there is the HUH?! at the beginning of today’s show. Stefano refuses to go to the wedding. Since the “real” Stefano would go in a heartbeat, just to see the Kate-Vivian-Victor show, this is obviously just a stupid time-killing scene.
Why is Stefano even invited to the wedding?
It's sometimes hard to get all the subtle nuances in. You'd think that wouldn't be the case in a show that doesn't have many subtle nuances. At any rate, Stefano wasn't invited to the wedding and he had his nose out of joint because of it. That's why he was so resolute that he wouldn't go. Kate, on the other hand had an invitation for herself and "guest" so she told him he could go anyway. Stefano still had to be upset for a while, but finally relented.
