A Noble Tramp

Mia and Nicole sit in Maggie's kitchen as Nicole sinks farther into the depths of delusion and tells Mia not to say anything. Mia shouts, "How do you think Chad would feel if he found out my rehab counselor adopted a baby?"

The Chadster walks in and hears it all, "Did you adopt a baby?"

EJ runs into Brady and they toss nasty names back and forth. Well, EJ tosses, Brady catches, but says he would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Sami visits Grace's grave, "I'm here because it helps me find peace of mind." Sami would be lucky to find a piece of her mind.

Dr. Carly works to revive Rafe.

Daniel arrives back at his apartment. Chloe greets him and comes over for some gropaliciousness. They munch around on each other when, suddenly...

WAAAHHHHH !

"What are you whining about now," asks Daniel.

EJ tells Brady, "You did what you did to make a fool out of me."

"Some things in life are pretty easy," says Brady.

Nicole tells Chad to get out. Chad scolds Nicole for lying to him about Mia's baby, "I'm tired of being kept in the dark and I'm not leaving until I get the whole story."

Daniel hears the crying and asks if Chloe is starting a daycare center. Chloe comes in hauling Sydney and tells her she's watching her for Nicole

Daniel watches them come in, "Wow! You're getting cuter by the second."

Chloe asks, "Do you mean me or the kid?"

"You... sexy," says Daniel, "She... cute." Uh oh! They sense something is wrong with Sydney! Oh, the drama!

Chad grills. Nicole tells him she's there because she's counseling Mia. "You mean helping her lie," growls Chad, "Did Mia ever tell you she had a baby." Mia steps up and says she didn't. She asks Chad to leave but he says he's involved on this. He says Mia may have dumped Will for him but doesn't want her back if she's just trying to shut him up.

Carly continues to work on Rafe and notices moths flying out of the gash on his head, "We have to get him to the hospital. If we don't... I may not be able to bill him for this.

Sami the rambler does her thing. She tells Grace she knows Rafe loved her. He loved her so much he bugged out on her. Sami whines, "I just want him to be happy."

Grace appears, "So what you're saying is yo want him to stay away from you?"

We return to Carly and Rafe. For further information on what happens, just see that last scene they were in.

Dr. Dan has diagnosed Sydney's problem. It seems she was suffering from the same thing the viewers suffer from daily, only this time it was in Sydney's diaper instead of on the screen. Chloe compliments him on the way Daniel changed Sydney's diaper like a pro. This leads us down the "you are going to make a terrific dad" path.

EJ and Brady sling more verbal hash at each other. EJ wants to know why Brady let Nicole go, "Everyone knows you love her."

Nicole tells Chad to get out. Chad ignores it. Mia says she got back with Chad so he would clam up. Chad wonders why Nicole would care if he were asking questions about his daughter, "My kid has nothing to do with you, right?"

"Most people will have nothing to do with me after they get to know me," says Nicole.

Carly tells Rafe to hang in there. Rafe flashes back to Sami nursing him in the safe house, "Sssaaaammmmiiiii..." Carly asks if he said something. Rafe looks up and says, "Yes. I said it's time for another flashback." No sooner said than done...

Sydney babbles. Smoochie Daniel decides to make an omelet. Chloe tells Mother Hubbard his cupboard is bare. He suggests going out, but Chloe thinks That's not a good idea.

An attendant brings Carly medical supplies. He leaves and Carly goes back to work, "I didn't come all this way to watch a man die."

Lawrence's ghost pops into the picture, "Why not?" Are you trying to atone for murdering me?"

Brady says Nicole loves EJ, "She and I are just friends. If I wanted Nicole I would have just straight out told you the truth."

Chad thinks Mia would never have given away his daughter unless some counselor gave her the idea. Mia says it wasn't like that. Chad starts to wise up, "How old is the baby you adopted? OMG, Mia, did you give this woman our baby?"

Chloe says they can't eat out, "We have to stay here with Sydney." Daniel suggests the Brady pub, where they have high chairs. "High chairs," repeats Chloe, "What a novel idea. I can't believe some of the things geniuses dream up." She figures going out with Sydney will be good practice for when she and the Gropemeister have kids. Daniel scowls. Chloe asks, "Don't you want to have kids?"

Carly tells Lawrence to go to hell, "Oh, I'm sorry... you're already there. How's that workin' out for ya? I'm glad I did you first because you were going to kill me. You deserved to die. I have no regrets."

"Then why did you run away," asks Lawrence.

"There's this annoying little law against murder," says Carly.

Lawrence vows his peeps will find her and punish her. He dematerializes.

Brady continues to insist he helped Nicole because she is a friend, "She just wanted to make you happy."

"What a noble tramp," says EJ.

Brady asks, "Why are you punishing a baby? And Sydney, too."

Chad figures it was Nicole who adopted Sydney. Nicole continues the lie but Mia jumps in and says they have to tell the truth. She turns to Chad and spills the beans, "Yes, Nicole adopted our baby. She married EJ DiMera and they have our baby Sydney." Nicole flashes back to the switcheroo.

Chad demands to see his daughter. Nicole pipes up, "No, you don't understand. Mia, Sydney is not your baby."

Daniel thinks they should talk about kids some other time. Like, when they get settled in the retirement home.

Rafe dreams about the safehouse and Sami dressing his wound. He stirs. He opens his eyes and Carly turns into Sami. He mumbles, "Sam..." and drifts off again.

Carly asks, "Who is Sam?"

"Sam" tells Grace it's time to go. She asks St. Grace to look after Rafe and leaves.

EJ don' owe Brady no stinkin' explanation. Brady says he's glad the way things turned out because EJ doesn't deserve a happy family.

Cad ramps it up, "If Sydney isn't my kid then prove it. I want a DNA test."

Nicole repeats, "Sydney isn't yours, and it's more complicated than you realize."

Mia supports Nicole, "Listen to her Chad. Sydney is not ours. She's been adopted."

Chad wants to exercise his paternal rights. Nicole says he gave up his rights when he went AWOL after his back seat rendezvous with Mia. Mia assures Chad Nicole and EJ can make Sydney happy. Chad thinks they can make Sydney happy, too. Nicole gives him the "you are the broke high school guy" lecture, "If you think you can support a baby you are more pathetic than I thought." And if anyone knows 'pathetic,' it's Nicole.

Omar comes back into the room. Carly updates him on Rafe's condition, "The worst is over."

"You mean he died," asks Omar.

Carly worries that the signals they have been sending are monitored. She suggests pulling into a port and dropping Rafe off, then she figures she can disappear there, too.

Chloe thinks Daniel doesn't want to have any kids at all. Daniel says he just wants to take it slow. "How slow," asks Chloe.

Daniel bobs and weaves. He says he wants to make sure Chloe recovers first. Chloe wonders if this is about Daniel's wife. Daniel insists not, "When the time is right we'll start thinking about a family."

Chloe asks, "You promise?"

"One thing you can count on," says Daniel, "is I will never lie to you. About anything. I said we'll think about kids. I didn't say we'd have any." Smooch.

EJ is back at the mansion. He pours a drink, picks up a picture of Sydney and flashes back to telling her a story, "Every time you smile you light up my life."

Chad nukes, "Lady, I am Sydney's father and I want my kid to know me!"

"As what," asks Nicole, "a high school hotshot who had unprotected sex and split? Stop obsessing about this. Let it go. You have a world of possibilities ahead of you. Someday, if you work your tail off, you may even be assistant night manager at the Java Café." Chad runs out. Mia starts to chase him, but gives up.

The attendant comes back into the room. Carly stands and asks what he wants. He points a gun at her.

Sami jogs and finds Brady. She senses trouble and asks what's up. He says he's just thinking about Nicole. Sami reminds him Nicole lied to EJ and she's not surprised EJ threw her out. Brady defends Nicole. Sami says she sees it from Nicole's perspective, but can understand why EJ did what he did, "He's not the kind of guy who forgives and forgets."

"Right," says Brady, "He just forgets."

"I was surprised to find you were involved," says Sami, "What happened to you, Brady?"

"Let's put it this way," says Brady, "If you're ever given the choice between Chinese water torture and listening to Chloe whine, go with the water torture."

Chloe tells Daniel not to be afraid of the future. "I'm not afraid of the future as long as you are by my side," says Daniel, "because if you're by my side, it's the present I have to fear." They ramble down the road of high-school level innuendo and then decide to go for steak.

A knock interrupts. Nicole shows up, "Where is my baby? I need my daughter right now."

Back at the DiMera farm, EJ obsesses. The doorbell rings. He ignores it and calls for Harold as he tries to make a call. No Harold, so EJ answers to find Chad.

Chad demands, "Where is Sydney?"

"East coast of Australia," says EJ, "and who are you?"

"I'm her father."
