A Prissy Little Teetotaler
Nathan meets Stephanie at the Cheatin' Heart and gives her a surprise kiss on the neck. Stephanie squeaks, "That had better be you." We assume "you" means Nathan, but with Stephanie, you never can tell. He orders beers, but Stephanie tells him she's quit drinking.
Phillip prepares dinner in Maggie's kitchen. Melanie walks in on him and cackles about all the love they share, but says she can't stop thinking about Chloe and her father. She thinks their relationship is in the tank, whereas oblivious Melanie thinks she and Phillip are on cloud 9.
Daniel and Chloe arrive home. Daniel doesn't want to go to bed without sorting this through. Chloe flashes back to her romp with Phillip. Daniel asks how he can fix this. "You can't," says Chloe.
Nicole arrives at the Kiriakis mansion and tells Brady she talked to Arianna, who seemed angry and upset. Brady says that's because they argued. He tries to call Arianna as Nicole flashes back to giving Baker instructions. Brady can't reach Arianna, "I'm going over there." he turns to leave.
WHAM!
Nicole doubles over in pain, "Oh, my knee!"
Arianna tosses her covers off and says she can't sleep until she settles things with Brady. Gosh, it just seems like they lost a great opportunity for a sleeping pill product placement here.
Roman leaves the pub.
CONK!
Roman hits the deck.
Arianna hears the ruckus downstairs, "What was that?"
Hopeless tells Baker she'll do the rest. He has a flashback to Nicole giving him instructions, and toys with the brush.
Carly calls Hope and leaves a message that a package came to the house for Ciara. Baker plants the brush. Hopeless asks what he's doing.
Nicole dances around in fake pain, "I got into it with Large Marge in prison and my knee has been bothering me ever since. She tires to walk but can't. She assures Brady it's not serious and suggests they hit the road — together.
Hope wants to know why Baker has rubber gloves on. Baker just says you can't be to careful as he lifts Roman's wallet. Hope plants her female empowerment stamp on him.
Arianna comes down into the pub. Caroline startles her, "Where have you been?"
Hopeless and Baker leave the scene as Carly finds Roman, "OMG! Someone should call a doctor!" She pulls out her phone, "I need an ambulance at the Brady pub. Commander Brady has either been attacked or he ate the chowdah for dinner."
"I feel the same way," says Nathan, "There is no other guy I'd rather be with."
Melanie worries that Chloe is sometimes unstable. People who live in glass houses... "Chloe is a little high-maintenance. I don't think she's right for my dad."
Daniel says he thought they were making some progress in therapy, but figures he's wrong. Chloe disagrees. She thinks therapy was helpful, but wasn't enough. She says she doesn't want to go again. She thought the therapist was judging her. Daniel says it's not true that Chloe doesn't deserve him and insists she's not a nut, "You are lovable."
"More than you know."
"The therapy was for both of us," says Daniel, "I need it too. I didn't know how bad things were for you. I should have known how much pain you were in."
"I'm just scared you won't forgive me after you find out what I have done," she whines.
Baker and Hopeless take is $60. Hopeless takes the money and tells him not to question her. Baker tells her from now on he's calling the shots.
Carly works on Roman as Brady and Nicole come up. Arianna and Caroline join the crowd. Nicole is upset to see Arianna is with Caroline and has an alibi.
Melanie says, "I think Chloe is nice and all that, but I also think she's a high octane drama queen and doesn't have the best track record with Lucas and Brady." Phillip says he likes Daniel, but knows he isn't exactly the most moral guy either. Melanie decides it's not a good idea to talk about this. Neither of them wants a fight. They agree to disagree. Melanie hugs. Phillip stares.
Daniel pulls out all the clichés, "How can I forgive you when you won't forgive yourself? This is about understanding, not blame. And taking things one step at a time. Look at me. Everything just needs to be out in the open. Don't beat yourself up. All you have to do is come to me and we'll talk about it and get through it together. I promise you." Hugs. Tears.
Too bad he couldn't find a way to throw in, "Our backs are against the wall."
The paramedics wheel Roman off. Abe shows up. Carly says a woman was leaving the scene, but she can't give any details on her description. Arianna explains to Brady that she was up in bed and heard the commotion. Nicole perks up and figures Arianna doesn't have an alibi after all.
The cop says he wants a statement from everyone. Brady takes Arianna off alone to talk. Nicole figures her plan is working perfectly.
Nathan and Stephanie play pool. The eight ball sits next to the corner pocket practically ready to roll in by itself. Nathan bets Stephanie double or nothing that she can't sink it. Stephanie pokes the cue ball and after about a dozen takes, drops the eight ball into the pocket. She could have made that shot if she'd just sneezed onto the eight ball, but Nathan makes a big deal about it and sucks up to her. Speaking of sucking, he goes for her face to do a little there. Melanie and Phillip walk in.
Arianna tells Brady she was going to call but the noise interrupted. Brady says he's sorry they fought. He assures her Nicole is in his past. Arianna just can't give it up and goes into whine mode.
Hopeless says, "I have my reasons for rolling the people I roll. That's the way I roll."
Baker asks, "Who's next, lady?"
The crowd arrives at the hospital. Nicole sits with Caroline, "I'm sorry for your loss."
Caroline goes off the deep end, "MY LOSS? MY LOSS? MY SON IS NOT DEAD!" Nicole starts to leave, but Caroline cools off and says they need to clear the air. She says she despises Nicole for what she did to Sami, but appreciates the exposé on the Brady pub. She'd rather have Nicole do the exposé on the muggings, however. Nicole says she'll do what she can and leaves.
Nicole pulls out her phone and calls Baker, "You idiot! I didn't think your target would be Roman Brady!" He tells her he left the DNA evidence at the scene. Nicole hangs up, "It's all going my way."
Baker counts his take, "If I play this right, little wad becomes big wad."
Carly sits with Caroline and tells her Roman's injuries weren't serious, "It's a good thing he was bashed in a place he doesn't use much — his brain." Caroline says she hasn't called Bo because she doesn't want to worry them, "I'm going to go call Sami and Carrie. It's OK to worry them."
Nicole finds Carly and asks how Roman is doing. Carly says she refuses to comment to the press and leaves.
Brady and Arianna come up and Brady leaves to find out what's going on. Nicole asks Arianna, "So, where were you when Roman went down?"
Chloe tells Daniel she's feeling a little better. Daniel says, "I will say one last thing to you. I am (say it with him) here for you. Always."
"I know that," says the whinerator. Hugs.
Phillip and Nathan go to buy the next round. Melanie wonders why Stephanie is avoiding alcohol, "Is it for the baby's sake?"
Stephanie snorts, "There is no baby. Except for the two of us."
Melanie asks, "Then how did you explain the fact that you are being a prissy little teetotaler?"
Nathan tells Phillip he owes him an apology for hanging around Melanie. He thanks Phillip for understanding and says it will never happen again, "You are the bigger man. But I have all my body parts."
Melanie and Stephanie bicker. Stephanie suggests they just promise to stay out of each other's lives. Melanie agrees.
Arianna says she was in her bedroom when Roman was attacked. Nicole says she tried to call. Arianna thinks Nicole was born to stir things up. Brady comes back.
Ro-moan comes to, "Ooohhhhh..." Caroline is with him. He tells her he's OK, but has a headache. Carly comes in and asks how he feels. "It feels like I was hit on the head," says Roman. Even in his state of semi-consciousness and pain, Roman never loses his firm grasp of the obvious.
Abe watches as Roman tells Caroline to go home and get some rest. He assures her he will be fine and asks Carly to make sure Caroline heads for home. Caroline and Carly leave. Abe tells Roman they're close to finding out who did this because the crook got sloppy.
Hopeless arrives back at the Kiriakis mansion and pours a drink. She tosses Roman's into her purse, "I'm so close to my ultimate target."
Daniel and Chloe cuddle on the couch. Daniel moves in. Clothes come off. Chloe flashes back to her romp with Phillip and stops him.
Nathan finds Melanie outside the Cheatin' Heart. They share an uncomfortable moment. "I can tell something is on your mind," says Nathan.
"I don't sweat the small stuff," says Melanie. She tells Nathan she doesn't think Chloe is right for Daniel. Nathan agrees.
Inside, Stephanie tells Phillip she thinks he's in a mood, "You seem like you're guilty about something."
Phillip beats Prevuze to the punch, "Yeah, I'm guilty about thinking you're seriously annoying me."
Stephanie digs, "Just tell me what you did." 'None of your business' is just another challenge to Stephanie.
Abe says, "We have evidence."
"Evidence," asks Roman, "What's that?"
Abe gets a call, tells Roman the McDNA reports are in and leaves.
Brady watches as Arianna and Nicole bicker. He takes his life in his hands and breaks them up. Abe comes up, "Roman doesn't remember anything, but he thinks hes some guy named Chris Kositchek. It's only a matter of time until we have the DNA evidence."
Stephanie says she's convinced something is going on with Phillip.
Melanie wonders why Nathan figures Chloe is all wrong for Daniel. He flashes back to overhearing Chloe confess to her Phil-andering.
Chloe tells Daniel it's nothing. "Don't lie to me," says Daniel.
Chloe whines, "Just hold me."
"No," says Daniel, "Not until you tell me what the hell is going on."
Caroline and Carly get back at the pub. Carly says Hope told her she doesn't blame her any more.
"Who does she blame," says Caroline, "Bo? So now my son is evil? Humpf."
Hopeless stalks into her bedroom and puts Roman's wallet in with her collection, "Poor Bo. He's not going to know what hit him. Just like when we were married."
Abe is at the hospital with the DNA results. Nicole, Brady and Arianna are gathered around as Abe says, "I think this is the break we've been looking for."
"The prints on the flashlight," says Brady, "Do we know who they belong to?"
"Arianna Hernandez."
Nicole makes a face. Arianna wets herself.

How long of a wait untill the cheating duo is revealed. Everyone suspects something is wrong but no one is fessing up. Reminds me of a similar plot on DOOL last year. Does fake baby rubber bump ring a bell? I wonder if it'll take another year for Dan and Mel to find out about their spouses's Phloe-cation.

Since Roman made the ill-advised decision to have Hope head up the muggings investigation, he’s getting what he deserves. It’s also mighty convenient that Hopeless’ next target was Roman, and he just happened to be coming out of the pub when he’s attacked. Geez!

OK – I think we all agree that Arianna has some major trust issues, Brady would be better off with someone far less neurotic, and Brady/Arianna is a match made in soap opera hell. However, if Brady really loves Arianna and wants her to believe he’s over Nicole, he ought to avoid Nicole like the plague. What does Brady do? He shows up at the crime scene with Nicole in tow and proceeds to assure Arianna that Nicole is in his past. Yeah, right.

this summer chloe discovers she is pregnant and carly knows. carly will stop chloe and daniel's wedding to announce that chloe is expecting. so for all of us who called it.... this makes all of us psychic or at least means we are all at the very least qualified, if not over qualified for a writing position on DOOL
