Stephanie finds Max working at the docks. She tells him they need to talk. She wants the truth about what he did to Nick's prototype proposal.

Alicia runs into Nick at the pub. She babbles and Nick gives her the brush off.

Patch comes into the pub and joins EJ. EJ looks up at him, "This is an awfully conspicuous place to meet, but I know we agreed to keep the past in the past. I'm willing to do that. In fact I'll meet you more than halfway and keep the future in the future. As conspicuous as this is, aren't you a little bit concerned someone might see us?"

Patch says, "I don't care who sees us so long as I get what I came for."

Bo joins Roman in his office. He wants to see Earl Larson's file, "It really bugs me he got shot to death just for talking to me."

"Most people could die of natural causes talking to you," says Roman. Roman knows Vitali's behind it. Suddenly Sami rushes in and says she needs to talk to Roman. She tells him Lucas refused to see her when she went to the prison to visit him.

"Has he become that attached to Carmine," asks Roman.

Sami whines, "I have to talk to him before I do something really stupid."

"Too late," says Roman.

Kayla and Hope are together at Bo and Hope's house. Hope promised Steve she would take Kayla to her doctor's appointment. Kayla knew Steve was behind this. She says Patch is convinced Vitali will use her to get back at him.

EJ asks about the kidnapping. Instead of answering, Patch wants to get down to business. EJ hands him an envelope, "It's all there." A creep watches the transaction.

Hope and Kayla discuss the Vitalis. Hope cautions Kayla to be careful, "You have to focus on your baby and take care of it."

Kayla brushes it off, "Stephanie can take care of herself."

Angelo finds Ava at the hospital. She tells him the tests came out as negative as DOOL ratings. She's ready to start living again. She thinks Nusbaum wanted her to be his patient as long as possible so he could bleed Daddy.

Roman wants to know what Sami is afraid she will do, "Frankly, Sami, you're lifetime supply of 'stupid' has just about run out." Sami flashes back to the kiss with EJ and says she wants to see Lucas. She wants Roman to convince Lucas to see her.

Roman says, "If he didn't want to see you, there is absolutely nothing I or anyone else can do about it." Roman pauses, then has an epiphany, "Waitaminute – I’m the assistant commissioner! I'll arrest him!"

Sami's skeptical, "But, Dad, he's already in prison."

"I know," says Roman, "but if we can get him back here behind bars, this place is so wide open, the next morning he can walk out with the cockroaches."

Sami's not following, "But if he really doesn't want to see me, what good does that do?"

Roman becomes impatient, "Listen, Sami, every brilliant plan doesn't come out of the gate without needing a little refinement. Work with me on this."

"Right, Dad," says Sami, "With thinking like that I can't believe they haven't already made you commissioner."

Creepo watches as Patch tells EJ they have a deal. Patch gets the willies. He turns to look where Creepo once stood.

Nick apologizes for snapping at Alicia. He tells her about the proposal. She tells him the proposal has already been submitted. She knows for a fact it arrived at the dean's office.

Stephanie wants to know why Max redid Nick's work and kept it secret. Max says he didn't tell him because he knows Nick is a proud guy. Max insists he only fixed the proposal. He didn't redo it. Stephanie wonders why he doesn't trust her. He insists he does. "None of this makes sense," whines Stephanie.

"Of course it doesn't," says Max, "It's DOOL." Max tries to get all-smoochie but she tells him to back off.

Roman tells Sami he has talked to Lucas, but Lucas doesn't want to see her, "He said he might call, but isn't ready to see you." Sami thinks a call would be better than nothing. Roman thinks she left a lot of things unsettled before Lucas left. Sami says she knows why Lucas felt he had to do it but not why he lied to her. Roman advises her to let Lucas know she loves him.

In most places, someone sends an email directly from one person to another. In Salem, it's a little more complicated. The originator sends an email, which is converted to a document printed on parchment, delivered by Pony Express to the telegraph office, where Pops, the Morse Code operator, sends it on to the police Email Command Headquarters for hand-delivery to the recipient. That process having been completed, a cop walks into Roman's office with a folded up piece of paper, "I have an email from Lucas for Sami."

"It's my personal email," says Sami, "Did you read it?"

"Of course not," says the cop.

"Then how did you know it was from Lucas," asks Sami.

"I think I hear the telegraph operator calling me," says the cop.

Kayla and Hope bump into Angelo and Ava. Ava thanks Kayla for treating her, and tells her she hopes she has a good appointment. Hope and Kayla walk off.

Angelo thinks Ava didn't need to thank her, "Patch is the reason for all of your problems and I know for a fact your father thinks so, too."

Ava asks, "What else do you know, Angelo?"

Stephanie still wants the truth. Max still insists she has it. Stephanie stomps off. Max flashes back to the beer party he had at OMB's grave, when he told OMB Nick makes mistakes from time to time, "The worst one was getting involved with Chelsea."

Alicia says she works in the dean's office, sorts his mail and saw Nick's proposal come in.

EJ offers to buy Patch breakfast. Patch refuses. EJ says they have to learn to trust each other. Steve is still distracted by the spirit trail Creepo left.

Bo and Roman leave to let Sami read her email in private. Outside, the cop who delivered it tells them what was in it.

She reads, "Dear Sami: I'm gonna be here for a long time. I've caused you so much pain. I'm letting you go. I still love you and always will but you have to forget about me and move on." Sami bawls.

Stephanie comes into the pub as Patch stares toward the door. Patch tells her about Kayla's appointment. He says he's not with Kayla because she thinks he's crowding her.

Stephanie walks over to Nick. He asks if she knows why Chelsea broke up with him. Stephanie dunno. She asks about the prototype proposal. He tells her one of his students told him it's at the dean's office. He says he double-checked the story and it's true. Max walks up. Nick repeats the story. Nick says his proposal was a mess and not complete. He wonders why someone would send it in instead of giving back to him. Max doesn't have a clue. He doesn't know about the proposal either.

Patch leaves the pub and Creepo follows.

Kayla and Hope are back at Bo and Hope's house. Kayla has become unglued. Apparently, Dr. Ellman has put her on 100% bed rest. Hope tells her, "Your only job now is to stay in bed."

EJ works at the mansion. Sami rushes in, flops on a chair and pouts like a schoolgirl. She says she couldn't sleep last night. EJ asks, "Because of what happened between us?"

Sami snorts, "Nothing happened."

"So I imagined the kiss," asks EJ.

Sami has a headache and doesn't want to talk about it. EJ wants to know if there is anything he can do. "Drop Nicole as a client," says Sami. EJ says he can't do that. He thinks Sami seems sad. Sami don' wanna talk about it.

EJ moves in, "Can I just give you a hug?" Sami cries.

Stephanie says she needs to tell Nick something, "We..."

Max interrupts, "...looked everywhere for the proposal. I have to get back to work."

Nick just doesn't understand. Stephanie decides it's time to go. She says she is sorry about Chelsea and the proposal and walks off. Nick flashes back to his argument with Max about the grant.

Ava wants to know if Daddy mentioned something about Patch. "It's no big secret your father hates the guy," says Angelo. Ava wants to know if Daddy is going after Patch. Angelo dunno. He says as far as he knows Martino isn't moving against Patch. They decide they are hungry and leave. "I know a little place with good food," says Ava. If you don't know the name of that little place, you fail DOOL 101.

Creepo comes down to the docks and trains his rifle on Patch. Like Bobby McGee, Patch pulls his harpoon out of his dirty red bandana and plays the blues. Creepo can't get a clean shot.

Hope suggests tea. They have an inane argument about who should go fix it. Hope wins, "I'll bring some apple pie, too. About ten more pounds and you won't be able to get out of the bed even if you want to." Hope leaves. Kayla has mini-cramps.

Stephanie tells Max they need to talk. She can't keep lying to Nick. Max doesn't want Nick to throw years of work down the drain. Stephanie gives up on Max and huffs over to Nick, "There is something I have to tell you."

Angelo and Ava walk in. She sees the drama over at Nick's table and wonders what's up with Stephanie, "That's Patch's kid. She's pretty, huh?"

Angelo the smoothie says, "Not as pretty as you, Twinkletoes."

Ava suggests Angelo get his eyes checked and asks how he knew she had an appointment today. He says she must've told him. Ava doesn't recall. Angelo surveys the menu, "What're you gonna have?"

Ava sneers, "I think I'm gonna have a 'Why you keeping tabs on me.'"

Stephanie has told Nick everything. She apologizes. Nick tells Max they need t talk.

Ava presses. Angelo dodges. He says Daddy is still worried about her. Ava knows and she also knows Angelo is keeping something from her.

Patch plays the About To Get My Head Blown Off Blues. A fisherman walks by. Patch moves out of the gun sight and calls Bo. Creepo winds up with his sights trained on the fisherman.

Bo gets the call, "I'm all ears. All ears no brain."

Sami sniffs and says EJ can't give her a hug. She decides to go for a walk. On her way out, she hears EJ's phone ring. Never one to miss a chance to eavesdrop, Sami listens in. "Hello Nicole," says EJ. That stops Sami in her tracks.

Nick wants to know why Max did that. Max says he just cleaned and copied the grant. Nick doubts he will get the approval for the prototype now. He storms out. Stephanie turns to Max, "I had to tell him. Now, tell me why you really did it." Max is silent. Stephanie huffs out. Max pulls out his own harmonica and plays the Won't Be Gettin' Any Today Blues.

Angelo swears nothing is going on. Ava decides she's not playing his little game. She starts to leave, but he stops her, "You're right. Your father wanted me to keep you busy today. There's something going down and he doesn't want you to get hurt."

Patch says he'll see Bo soon. He hangs up. Bo turns to Roman, "Steve's in trouble. We don't have much time."
