A Weapon Of Manning Destruction

Nicole is on the phone at the cop-shop asking where her crew is. Overdone doodledy-do music plays to let us know this is a humorous situation which we, of course can't figure out ourselves. The production assistant comes up carrying a garment bag, coffee and camera. Nicole bickers with her and finds out it's Arianna. She wonders if this is a joke. Arianna assures her it's not. "Well," says Nicole, "You're darn right it's no joke — you're fired!" Doodledy-do, doodledy-do.

Daniel huffs out of the pub before he says something he'll regret. Vivian comes up and puts a hand on Chloe's shoulder, "You poor, poor thing. I overheard that argument." Chloe says she doesn't need her. Vivian insists she does.

Dr. Yang is at the hospital with Carly ready to perform the experimental surgery. Carly, of course, will assist. Victor overhears as he walks up to them, "You... operate on Daniel... the hell you will!"

Ciara looks under the bed and finds Hope's secret box.


Brady is down at the dock jogging. Justin finds him. Brady asks about the mugging and Justin fills him in. They also talk about Adrienne selling the Cheatin' Heart. Justin asks about the wedding and Brady says he and Arianna are putting it off.

"Who's idea was that," asks Justin, "Arianna's or Nicole's?"

"The Guy Manual says it doesn't matter," says Brady, "It says I should just thank my lucky stars I dodged the bullet."

Arianna says Nicole can't fire her. Nicole says Phillip can and will, when she talks to him. Abe comes out and Arianna tells him he's out of his mind if she's giving an exclusive to Nicole.

Hope comes into her bedroom and sees Ciara is trying on her shoes. She thinks Ciara is being very quiet, and says she's worried, "I feel like I don't know what's going on in your head."

"I don't know what's inside your head either, Mommy," says Ciara.

"I don't know what you mean by that," says Hope.

Justin asks if Nicole were still in prison if Brady and Arianna would be married. Brady says they probably would, but with Nicole in prison Arianna thought she was out of the way. Justin tells him as he looks back on his marriage all he sees is missed opportunities. He advises Brady not to be casual about his opportunity for happiness and leaves. Brady stares.

Nicole wants to change outfits, but Abe insists on doing the interview now. Arianna fires up the camera and they get started. Nicole introduces herself and the mayor, and then asks him if he was attacked. "No," says Abe, "I smashed myself in the head and took my own wallet."

Nicole asks about the fact that the attacks have been on powerful men and wonders if it reflects badly on Abe's administration, "Isn't this embarrassing?"

Arianna can't take it any more. She swipes her hand across her throat and yell, "CUT! CUT! CUT!"

Vivian asks Chloe, "She's gotten to him, hasn't she... Carly Manning? You mustn't let her win, darling."

Carly sends Dr. Yang off to prep for surgery.

Victor asks, "Who is that?"

That's Dr. Yang," says Carly, "But his friends call him Ying."

Victor doesn't want Carly involved in the surgery. Daniel tells Victor to listen to reason, "I trust Carly. I trust her with my life."

Victor growls, "Well, you're a damn fool. But these days I have to admit that's better than trusting Nathan and Melanie with your life."

Hope tells Ciara she's worried about her because she knows she misses her daddy and family, and says things she's thinking to Tommy Bear and not to her mommy or doctor. She says Ciara made up the stories about Justin and suggests she go down to the kitchen for dinner.

Ciara leaves and stands outside the bedroom door, "But Mommy, I didn't make it up."

Nicole says a PA can't call cut. Arianna says Nicole was interrupting the mayor. Abe asks to move things on. Arianna apologizes for Nicole and Abe says he wants to answer her question. They start again and Nicole asks again about the embarrassment.

"A crime," says Abe, "isn't a worse crime because it happens to someone in power. It's a worse crime, when it happens to ME. Whoever is doing this will be apprehended." He explains Hope is in charge of the task force.

Justin knocks on the bedroom door and comes in to see Hope. Hope says she's worried about Ciara making stuff up, "I don't understand why. She doesn't lie." Justin says he knows Ciara is a normal happy kid. Hope says there is more to the story and tells him about Ciara stealing reward stickers at school. Justin tries to soften the situation, "You're a good mother. Or I guess I should say, you're better at being a mother than you are handling a gun. Have you talked to Bo about this?" Hope tells him no. She tells him about Bo being with Kimberly. Justin, trooper that he is, suggests maybe he can step in and help.

Chloe thinks Vivian is saying all this because she hates Carly. Vivian says she knows Carly is after Daniel and Chloe doesn't know how to handle it. Father Matt comes up and asks if everything is OK. "No," says Chloe, "I can't seem to make this lady leave me alone."

Daniel takes Victor aside and says he respects Carly as a friend and doctor. Victor doesn't. Daniel insists Victor has been brainwashed by Vivian. Carly announces Dr. Yang is ready.

Victor threatens as he leaves, "Daniel had better come out of surgery alive and seeing perfectly or you will hear from me."

Carly asks if Chloe knows about the surgery. Daniel says he didn't tell her about it because they had a fight. "What was the fight about," asks Carly, as if it were any of her business.

"About you," says Daniel.

Justin and Hope have put Ciara to bed now that dinner is over. "I'm really worried about her," says Hope, "All she does is eat and sleep." She tells Justin about Ciara saying Justin would be her new daddy.

"Wow," says Justin, "Now I know it was a dream."

"Me too," says Hope, "Bo will always be her daddy until new test results show it really was Patrick." She says she also doesn't want Ciara to start thinking of Carly as her step mommy.

"I'm sorry about how that is turning out," says Justin, "Just as sorry as I would be if I won the lottery." Hope tells him about Abe's mugging.

Nicole thanks Abe for the interview. "I wish I could say it's been a pleasure," says Abe.

Father Matt asks Vivian to excuse them. She leaves and Father Matt says he recognizes her. Not from church, I'd guess. Chloe tells him what happened between her and Daniel, "I think I may be pushing him right into Carly Manning's arms."

Gus comes into the pub and sits with Vivian. She tells him about Daniel and Chloe, "They had a glorious argument. I was over there working on her until that wretched priest interrupted us. I'm going to make her into a weapon of Manning destruction."

Gabi strolls at the dock and calls Arianna. Arianna tells her about doing the camera work at the police station. She says she's flying by the seat of her pants but her camera thing will be on TV tonight. She also tells her the reporter is Nicole. Gabi gasps, "Good luck with the baby switcher."

In one of those coincidental moments you only find on DOOL, Brady walks up to her and asks, "You're talking about Nicole aren't you?" If the guy were any quicker, he'd be a glacier.

Daniel says Chloe is feeling a little insecure right now. Carly says she's sorry to hear this and Daniel says that's why he didn't feel like it was good to tell her about the surgery. Carly insists Chloe has nothing to fear from her.

Hope brushes off her headaches and thanks Justin for his advice. She leaves and Justin stares.

Daniel calls Chloe and leaves a message, "I didn't mean to blow up at you earlier. I'm going into surgery and probably won't be home tonight." Carly comes and gets him for the surgery.

Victor walks down by the dock. He gets a call from Vivian and tells her Daniel is in surgery and Carly will be assisting. Vivian wonders if that's why Chloe and Daniel were fighting. She tells him about Daniel and Chloe in the pub. She does a quick hang up and tells Gus about the surgery and also says Daniel didn't tell Chloe about it.

Father Matt asks if Chloe discussed Carly with Daniel. Chloe says she meant to do it a hundred times, but they've only discussed it 99 times and that hundredth time would be the one that counts. Father Matt asks what she would like to tell Daniel. Chloe says she would like to say Carly is moving into every part of their lives.

Brady asks if Gabi was talking to Arianna. Gabi tells him Arianna is working for Nicole. Brady heads for the police station to see if he can stop Armageddon.

Nicole barks orders to Arianna. Arianna asks, "Do you just do this when I'm around or are you always a bitch?"

Hope comes into her bedroom. We pan to the secret box half out from under the bed. Hope pops a pill.

Nicole says she is a bitch but that's why she's good at her job. Brady comes in, "What the hell is going on?"

"It's just another contrived situation," says Arianna, "because the writers can't think of anything interesting and creative to write about." Doodledy-do, doodledy-do.

Chloe gets Daniel's message. She holds her phone up and plays it so the world can hear. When Daniel says he's going into surgery, Chloe interprets it to mean Daniel is doing the surgery not having it. Father Matt advises her to go to the hospital to see if she can work things out. Chloe, of course, just can't do that.

Justin gives Victor contracts to sign. Victor sits and goes through the papers, "We could do this in the morning, but then you wouldn't have a chance to come sniffin' around Hope."

Meanwhile, Hope is upstairs in bed. She wakes up, "OMG, I overslept! I don't have much time!" She jumps up and we pan to her secret box.

Vivian and Gus are at the hospital. They eye an orderly Gus has picked as someone who will help them, "He needs money. He's a day trader."

"What does he trade them for," asks Vivian, "Nights?"

Daniel has been prepped. Dr. Yang walks in, "The hospital requires me to ask if you have health insurance."

"Salem General has an excellent plan," says Daniel, "I have insurance up the ying yang."

"Thanks," says the doctor.

"You're welcome, Dr. Yang," says Daniel.

"Call me Ying." Doodledy-do, doodledy-do.

Father Matt advises Chloe not to back away from this. Chloe says she thinks everything is working against her and Daniel. Father Matt gives her a pep talk.

Brady says he thinks he should help Arianna land another job at the TV station. Arianna says she likes it where she is. Nicole sides with Brady.

Vivian walks over to the day-trading orderly, Mr. Winton, and introduces herself.

Justin says he doesn't want to talk about Hope. Victor thinks Bo will come to his senses and go back to her. Selfless Justin thinks in the meantime he can help Hope.

Hope changes into her alter ego, "Tonight will be the night."

Arianna insists she's not a quitter. She tells Nicole to stay out of it and says she wants to keep the job. Doodledy-do music continues to play as Arianna insists she's not running away.

Carly asks if Daniel got in touch with Chloe. He says he left a message but once he gets out of surgery he'll make everything right. Translation: Understanding Chloe will perform her own surgery after which we'll be referring to him as Dr. Eunuch.

Chloe walks into the hospital and finds Mr. Winton. We learn his first name is Grant. Grant says he doesn't think Dr. Jonas is in surgery, "I saw the schedule and he's not on it."

"It doesn't make any sense," says Chloe, "Then again, hardly anything makes sense to me."

Grant says, "I like you so I'll be honest. Dr. Jonas and Dr. Manning were both here, but now they're gone."

Justin wonders why Victor thinks Bo is the real man and Justin isn't. He goes to check on Hope.

Hope dolls up as Justin stands outside her door. She looks into the mirror, "Perfect!" Apparently, perfection has been redefined.
