Don't Quit Your Day Job

Chad and Sami are at the Java Café. Chad figures he might be looking at things wrong. He thinks Sami is the first person who makes any sense about this whole situation, proving forever how screwed up things really are. Sami asks if he's going to keep trying to get Sydney. Chad stares.

Rafe shivers. He calls for Sami, "Sydney is your baby, not Nicole's."

Brady asks if he just heard what he thinks he heard, "You want to run away with me?"

Nicole says she made a mistake marrying EJ, "You were the one who was always (say it with her) there for me. I finally realized your love comes with no strings." Brady reminds her of the little technicality that she's married to EJ. Nicole insists that's in the past, "Loving EJ was the biggest mistake in my life and now it's over. Now I can be with the one man in the world who is perfect for me."

EJ stands in Stefano's room and rambles on about the business. He decides he shouldn’t be talking about business with Stefano's life hanging in the balance. He tells him to rest and be grateful he can close his eyes and stay away from all the madness.

Carly works the medicine cabinet open and swipes the drugs. As she comes out she sees Maxine talking to Bo.

Sami tells Chad Sydney and Nicole have bonded, "Kind of like the way a piece of gum sticks to the bottom of your shoe." Chad asks about Sami's insecure son, "Is he really screwed up or something?"

"Well," says Sami, "he's not on my level of screwedupedness." She asks if he's going to let Sydney stay with Nicole. Chad says he will see about that.

Chad sort of walks of to the side as the Town Prier comes in. Maggie walks up to Sami and puts the blabbing into high gear, "I just talked to Will. What a wonderful young man he has turned out to be." Sami cringes.

Brady recognizes the fact that if EJ hadn't kicked Nicole to the curb she wouldn't be there right now. Nicole admits it, "I'm weak. I need to be with you now, though." Brady is more concerned about the "running away" part than the "being together" part.

He consults the Guy Manual for advice, "If she suggests running away together, she's got it half right. Running away is good advice, so take it and run like hell."

Nicole shifts into grovel mode, "Don't you still love me?"

"I do," says Brady, "Probably always will."

Carly watches as Theo runs up and Bo greets him. Lexie tells him Theo has been mainstreamed. Bo is looking forward to the time when he can be mainstreamed, too. Bo asks about Stefano. "He's stable," says Lexie.

"That's good," says Bo, "That's more than you can say for most of the people in this town."

EJ gives Stefano his love and does the upside down buddy shake with a comatose vegetable to prove they are compadres. EJ leaves. Stefano's fingers do the Baker bounce.

Have you heard the one about the old guy who walks into a bar and asks for cocaine... oh, waitaminute, that's what's actually happening. Never mind.

Victor walks into the pub. Arianna asks, "What can I get you?"

Victor asks, "How about some cocaine?"

Arianna asks, "Straight or rocks?"

Victor asks, "What was that, some kind of crack?"

Arianna drops her jaw with all this cocaine talk but Victor reassures her, "That was just a little joke."

Arianna snorts (pun intended), "Don't quit your day job."

Victor asks if she's still managing both jobs. Arianna assures him she is and reminds him not to tell Brady. "I won't tell," says Victor, "I keep my word. How about you? Do you keep yours." Arianna stares.

Brady admits he's loved Nicole for a long time. He says he's waited forever to hear Nicole say she loves him. She wonders if all this lovey-ness means he'll go away with her.

Maggie runs off at the mouth about Will. Nervous Sami decides she has to go and runs before Chad can hear. Unfortunately, when Chad steps up to take Maggie's order, propeller-mouth continues to spin. She goes on about knowing Sami, Will and Mia, "Sami's son Will and Mia are good friends." If Maggie's mouth were a weapon nukes would be obsolete.

Victor asks again if Arianna has kept her word. Arianna lies. Victor digs a little deeper, "You've kept your distance from Brady?"

Arianna dodges the question, "I don't want Brady to know. It would hurt him."

Victor gives her a parting shot, "Seeing Brady doesn't get hurt is something we have in common." Outside, he stares at Arianna through the window and makes a call, "It's Victor. We need to talk."

Nicole tells Brady she wants to take Sydney with them. Brady balks. He reminds her the adoption wasn't legal. "I'm going to take her and go to a country that doesn't have extradition... Bali... Brunei... Morocco... Melaswen..." Brady tells her it's not going to happen.

Rafe wakes and calls for Sami, "Nicole's baby..."

Having left the conversation at the Java Café more devastated than a nuclear winter, Maggie the motormouth leaves as Sami bobs, weaves and backpedals. She tells Chad everything she said is still true. Chad is one peeved barista.

Carly watches Bo as he talks on the phone. Lexie comes back. Bo hangs up.

EERT! EERT! EERT! MAYDAY! MAYDAY! SORAS ALERT! SORAS ALERT!

Bo tells Lexie he just got off the phone with Ciara, "I can't believe it. It's like she came back a different person. When she left she was just cute. Now she's cute and all grown up and beautiful."

"Things happen fast," says Lexie.

"You're not kidding," says Bo, "If they happened this fast in real life the average lifespan would be about 14 years."

"Pretty soon the boys will start coming around," says Lexie.

"Oh, no," says Bo, "I'm not letting her date until she's 31 or 32."

"From the way you're talking," says Lexie, "It sounds like she can start dating right away. You know, as the police commissioner, you could arrest the boys if they weren't on their best behavior."

Carly soaks it in, "POLICE COMMISSIONER!"

Victor arrives to see EJ. He commiserates with him about his marital problems, "Be thankful for small things... at least Nicole didn't try to murder you." Victor says he's there to talk about Stefano, "Strictly business."

Sami begs Chad to listen. Chad ain' in listenin' mode. Sami says she doesn't want him to make the same mistakes she did. Chad assures her he has no plans to dress up like a man and run off to a foreign war.

Nicole begs. Brady rejects. He asks if she wants to run away with him so she can be with him or with his money.

An orderly stops Carly, "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were Dr. Nelson."

"No," says Carly, "Harriet retired years ago." She gets on the elevator as Maggie passes. Maggie does a double take, but when she turns, the elevator doors have already shut. Maggie seems distraught. It isn't a good day for her until she has ruined at least two lives.

Victor says he wants to sell part of his operation, "I want to sell my side of the river."

"Getting rid of your liquid assets, eh," asks EJ, "What's the catch?"

"Out of that river," answers Victor, "Usually a couple of moldy carp."

Sami has cornered Chad and is throwing every excuse in the book at him. She thinks what he is facing is similar to what she faced. Fortunately, Sami had many other personalities to help with her burden, but Chad is working alone. She tells Chad Will hated his parents, "Is that what you want? You should learn from my mistakes. Mia doesn't want to be with you so you will be doing this alone. Do you want Sydney to grow up screwed up and hating you?"

"On this show she'll do that no matter what," says Chad.

Brady says he loves Nicole but this is about more than love. Fools rush in, you know. Well in this case it would be fools rushing out. Nicole whines, "I only have you, Brady. You are my rock. Specifically your head is my rock."

Brady asks, "What if I didn't have any money?"

"It's not about the money," says Nicole, "It's about the life we can have."

Brady slings back his drink, "You make a good case." OMG, the drink must've been Kool Aid. Brady wonders what kind of a life they would have on the run. He fears Nicole would be isolated from the friends in Salem.

"I won't be isolated," says Nicole, "I'll have you and Sydney." Brady flat out rejects the offer.

Victor tells EJ there is no catch, "Phillip and Brady don't want any part of it and when I retire I have no one to pass it on to." EJ is amused and reminds Victor he isn't retiring. Victor thinks EJ could use the distraction.

Chad says he won't lie to Sydney, "And I'm not attacking Will. I'm attacking you and his alcoholic father. I will never make the same mistakes you did when I'm raising my kid."

Brady says he won't abandon Nicole. Nicole says she has to go away. She can't stay in Salem. Brady says, "I can't whisk you to a fantasy world and live there together for all the Days Of Our Lives. I'm involved with somebody else. Even if I wasn’t... I want to help you."

Scorned Nicole don' wan' no stinkin' help. She runs out. Outside she turns on the waterworks.

Arianna is on the phone with her supplier. She hangs up and worries about her "other" job as Brady walks in. She urges him to keep things private. Brady orders coffee. Private stock. Arianna says if he takes it to the pier she will meet him on break. Brady leaves. Arianna sighs.

Maggie rushes up to Bo and Lexie, "Who are the female doctors on staff this evening."

"Just me," says Lexie.

"No," says Maggie, "I asked about female doctors. Anyway, I just saw a female doctor who looks familiar."

Carly returns to the boat. Omar tells her Rafe keeps talking about a baby. Carly administers the contraband medicine.

Mary brings Sydney to Nicole as she sits outside the pub. Nicole acts like a scatterbrain and Mary asks if she's all right. She says she feels bad about what happened. Nicole assures her things will work out and thanks Mary for bringing Sydney. Mary leaves. Nicole picks Sydney up, "Mommy will always (say it with her) be there for you, sweetheart."

Sami says Chad talks big about being a father but it's only talk. Chad vows to get custody of Sydney, "I don't want any more talk." Poor guy is in for a rough road if he's going to stick around this town. Talk is the main currency in Salem.

Brady and Arianna meet. Brady hints at his conversation with Nicole but doesn't give details. He wants to be completely concerned about Arianna. He thinks she didn't look happy in the pub. Arianna doesn't want to talk about that either. Under the circumstances you'd think they'd shut up, but no luck on that front. Well, one thing shuts them up...

EJ says he's going to do a little research on his own before deciding to buy into Victor's drug operation. Victor invites him to do that. EJ says he'll let Victor know. As Victor leaves he tells EJ, "Your father would be very proud."

The proud father vegetates. Lexie stands there and begs him not to leave them. Stefano's machines beep. Lexie goes into panic mode, "Father... Father... Father... Quick! Somebody call a doctor! "

Maxine comes up to Bo and Maggie and says she has discovered there are drugs missing, "The lock's been broken. It's a good thing you're here, Bo, you can start an investigation. The funny thing is, the only drugs that were stolen were antibiotics."

The DA comes into the Java Café. Chad turns to him, "What can I do for you, Dad?"

"Your mother is worried about you," says the DA.

"I'm good," says Chad, "Solid."

"Right," says Dad, "I'm the DA. It's my job to read people. I can see you're hurting. We want to help you get through this." Chad says there is a baby's life at stake. He knows DA Dad thinks he should just give up the baby. Dad thinks that would be best. Chad says he doesn't know if he's going to fight for the girl or not.

DA Dad softens and hands Chad a card, "If that's what you decide, you will need a good attorney. I'm not fond of this guy but he's one of the best. Before you make that call I'd give it a lot more thought." Dad leaves. Chad stares.

Carly tells Omar she thinks the meds will take a couple of hours to kick in. Omar asks about the hospital. Carly says she ran into someone she knew there but will handle that later.

Sobbing Nicole calls Chloe and says she needs her help. She hangs up and bawls. Sydney provides the adult supervision. Sami comes up. Sydney still provides the adult supervision.

"I'll help you," says Sami.

"No thanks," says Nicole, "I'm already miserable enough."

He thinks Sami is the first person who makes any sense about this whole situation, proving forever how screwed up things really are.

Sami – the voice of reason – geeeeeeeez!

"Well," says Sami, "he's not on my level of screwedupedness."

…but then who is?

Nicole shifts into grovel mode, "Don't you still love me?"

"I do," says Brady, "Probably always will."

Why? Nicole is a manipulative, lying, former porn star who just offered to share the goods with a teenager. Brady needs to get back to the Guy Manual and reread the “run like hell” part.

She tells Chad everything she said is still true. Chad is one peeved barista.

Chad already starts out one up on Sami in the parenting arena. He has a job.

Victor arrives to see EJ. He commiserates with him about his marital problems.

Why would EJ do that? From the very beginning, Victor cautioned EJ to not get involved with Nicole. The snarky old dude certainly knew what he was talking about.

He asks if she wants to run away with him so she can be with him or with his money.

Money – Brady said the secret word, and a paper mache duck descends from the ceiling to hand Nicole $100.

"I want to sell my side of the river."

"Getting rid of your liquid assets, eh," asks EJ, "What's the catch?"

"Out of that river," answers Victor, "Usually a couple of moldy carp."

…and a terminally boring but only slightly bloated Rafe.

"I'll help you," says Sami.

"No thanks," says Nicole, "I'm already miserable enough."

...and so are the viewers. Aha – the plot thickens or, in this case, the plot sickens. Isn’t it enough that Sami is going to go nuclear on Nicole when she finds out the babies were switched? Apparently, that isn’t horrific enough for the stellar DOOL creative team. Now we get Sami helping Nicole to get out of Dodge with the stolen baby in tow. Geeeeeeeez part deux!

Bulldog – kudos for a very funny censored link, and thank you Prevuze for all the research and work that must have gone into gathering the data for the Prevuze Reader Poll!

LOL at the censored link and Stefano's fingers doing the "Baker bounce".

I've meant to bring something up for the groups' discussion: Where has this deep and unrequited love for Nicole come from on Brady's part? Yeah, they were involved back in the day (pre-Chloe), but it was always more Nicole's obsession with Brady than any kind of true love, especially on his part.

I had about the same reaction as Leslie with this prevuism:

"Out of that river," answers Victor, "Usually a couple of moldy carp."

"And a bloated body or two", was my first thought.

I was scratching my head this morning with the Prevuze Previews statement that Victor offerred to sell BRADY his drug business. That was a HUH?! moment for sure. I must say, Victor going to EJ makes a lot more sense. lol

Great job this morning, Prevuze! Enlightning poll. And to top it off, for the second time in a row I have an actual word for my verification: heaters

I had to LOL and am still chuckling over this: Bo is looking forward to the time when he can be mainstreamed, too." HAHAHAHAHA

I'm going to have to echo Applecheek's query from the other day - about why Carly is sneaking around and hiding from Bo. She's been calling him the whole trip. Now she's discovered he's the commissioner. He's always been a cop. It's not like when she left he was an insurance salesman or something.

Victor offering to sell his business to the DiMeras is a stretch. Where's the snarky Victor who would've gone into Stefano's room and taunted him?

I hope they don't SORAS Ciara, the little girl who plays her is so cute. But if they do like they did Belle she'll walk in and be about 18.

Loved Nicole trolling on the pier, the moldy carp and If Maggie's mouth were a weapon nukes would be obsolete.

Great Prevuze and Happy Tuesday all.

So, I've been watching the last few days and though some part of me gets Chad's point. It still seems to me to he is regarding Sydney as his property.

"I do," says Brady, "Probably always will."
wut? Words said to Chloe, soon to be said to Theres- er... Ariana.

"Be thankful for small things... at least Nicole didn't try to murder you."
Haha! I just remembered when EJ told Victor to shut it because Nicole was the bee's knees. I love that term.

Brady slings back his drink, "You make a good case."
And Ethan's ineptitude as lawyer carries over to Brady.

I'm attacking you and his alcoholic father. I will never make the same mistakes you did when I'm raising my kid.
Sami tries to reply but her lowly words will never reach the top of the pedestal Chad has placed himself on. Behold our paragon of morality... who looked like he was going to take Nicole up on her offer until that unbelievable recognition kicked in.

"I'm the DA. It's my job to read people. I can see you're hurting.
I can't imagine anyone speaking like that.

Sobbing Nicole calls Chloe and says she needs her help.
Whoa, that's some desperation right there.

So, we have Nicole; a woman who tried to murder a very powerful man who could easily have her killed, and a person who openly rebuffs Stefano's will. And there she is bawwing because some teenager is threatening her. Old Nicole would know how to deal with Chad. NuNicole is a sobbing wreck.
