Half Foam, Hold The Cow, Dry On Land

Sami stomps around the apartment in a rage. EJ tells her to cool it. Sami steams. She can't believe Lucas involved Will in this. EJ asks if it was Will on the phone. "No," says Sami, "I can't seem to get Will because Carrie and Austin either won't let him talk or won't go get him, and it would make too much sense for me just to call his cell phone."

EJ suggests giving him time. Sami doesn't think he will come around. Will blames her for everything. EJ asks if that's what Carrie told her. Sami says yes and launches into her best imitation of Carrie. Suddenly she's hit with the overpowering desire to haul EJ up to the rooftop and throw it down. Sami tells EJ about calling Will and telling him Lucas had been arrested, "He wasn't surprised which means Lucas told him everything before he left. The last thing he said was, 'tell dad I love him.' I think my son's given up on me."

EJ comforts and tells her Will is going through a tough time and loves her. Sami isn't sure, "He blames me. I may as well have pulled the trigger myself."

Moody Lucas comes in to see Kate. "I told you not to come," he growls.

"You need your family," says Kate.

"I'm a Horton," he grumbles.

"You're half Roberts," says Kate, "And half witted. And half a**ed"

Phillip joins them and says he has a plan, "The top legal minds formulated it."

"I was hoping you'd ask Mickey to represent me," says Lucas, "He needs the work."

Phillip says, "You need to plead not guilty due to insanity."

"Brilliant," says Kate, "Using the truth as a strategy."

Bo and Hope pose as a homeless couple. They sit in the cold and watch the CB DiMera building. Bo hands her a cup of coffee, "I got it just like you like it – Half foam... hold the cow..."

Hope completes the formula, "Dry on land... blah, blah, blah. I'm impressed." Bo wants to know why Crystal tried to lure Belle and Claire out. Rob shows up. Homeless Hope starts taking pictures with her expensive cell phone.

Marlena sits on her couch and goes through albums pining for John. Roman walks up and startles her. He says he rang the Belle and since she didn't answer he used his key and let himself in. He talks about the incredible life she and John had. Marlena just doesn't know how she will go on. Roman says she will be fine, "You've got a lot of years ahead of you, and a whole lot more behind you. John would say get out there and laugh and have a good time. And give your ex-husband(s) the key to your apartment to help expedite things."

Marlena just can't go out and have fun right now. It's too soon. Roman says she will do it in time. Marlena looks off in the distance, "I can almost feel something." Roman removes his hand. Marlena says she just has this sense John is around, "It feels like he's out there somewhere."

Roman asks, "You want to believe that John is still here?"

Marlena says, "What if he's alive?"

"This is Salem," says Roman, "The real shocker would be for him to be dead."

Stefano says, "Once you start this assignment, there is no turning back."

John the pawn says, "Understood." John wants to know when he can get out of there. Stefano reminds him he can't be seen in the town. John wants to know why.

Rob sees homeless Hope taking pictures. He comes over and tells them to go somewhere else. Crazy old Hope asks if he owns the place. Rob is silent. "I didn't think so," says Ma Brady, "We're staying." Rob stomps off. Hope tells Bo she got the picture. They will give it to Belle and if she recognizes him they will drag him in.

Marlena thinks there might be a chance John is alive. She goes through her (I use the term loosely) reasoning for this. Roman reminds her she saw John's squishification in person. We flash back to John playing the part of a bug on a windshield. Marlena says she can't get that scene out of her mind.

"Apparently," says Roman, "Neither can the writers."

Roman verbally goes back through John's tedious death. He says she has to realize there is no logical way he can be alive. Marlena rationally knows he's dead but...

Roman would bring John home if he could, "But I’m keeping the key to your apartment." He promises to find the killers and bring them to justice. He has an appointment but tells her to call if she needs him, "But, Marlena, you need to let John go."

Roman leaves. Marlena says, "No, I can't do that."

Stefano presses a buzzer, "Where the hell is he?" John asks if he knows people in Salem and will be recognized. Stefano dodges and tells him he is a fugitive. Rolf shows up.

John demands the truth, "I need to go out."

"You'd better let him," says Rolf, "He's not housetrained yet."

Stefano takes Rolf aside and says John is asking too many questions. Rolf says he can't raise the medication level – he's already at the maximum.

Across the room, John asks, "Did someone say something about drugs?"

Stefano asks why John is so anxious to get out. Rolf thinks maybe he is searching for someone. Stefano says Rolf assured him he would not remember. Rolf goes over and gently puts his hand on John's shoulder. John gives him a cold stare, slowly removes the hand and leaves the room with him.

"No way," says Lucas, "I don't want to hear it."

"You have somewhere better to go," asks Phillip. Lucas sits. Phillip says they have the evidence to put him away, "We have to establish mitigating circumstances. We have a psychiatrist who will testify you were insane." Lucas doesn't want any part of that. Kate tells him there is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Lucas asks, "What do you want me to do... Stand up in front of a judge and tell them the woman I love drove me nuts?"

Phillip says, "No one would buy it. Everyone knows you were bonkers before you even met her. But the best strategy would be for Sami to tell them She did it."

Sami bounces Johnny. EJ leers. He says how lucky the twins are to have such a wonderful mother. I guess they're shipping the twins to another mother. Sami beats herself up over Will. EJ offers to talk to him. Sami says she doesn't want him anywhere near Will.

Lucas says he won't blame Sami for this. Kate and Phillip try to convince him by rehashing all the details. "She made a fool out of you Lucas," says Kate.

"I am nobody's fool," says everybody's fool.

"You are acting crazy," says Phillip, "Temporarily insane perhaps?" He asks if Lucas is going to talk to Sami. Lucas is silent and Phillip says he has a meeting to get to. He leaves.

Kate turns on the afterburners. Lucas reminds her Sami isn't speaking to him. Kate suggests Lucas write a letter, "Your fate is in Sami's hands."

Bo and Hope huddle together in the cold. Crystal shows up. Bo runs up to her, "Salem PD! I want to ask a few questions."

Nick shows up at Marlena's place. She says she has a favor to ask, "It has to be kept confidential. I need to know if John is dead."

"Do you want me to exhume his body," asks Nick.

"No," says Marlena, "His body is not in the grave."

"I thought it smelled a little stale in here," says Nick.

Crystal says she has no ID on her. Bo says he thinks she was involved in a hit and run and an abduction in Europe. Hope reminds her of the message she gave Marlena. "I'm a psychic," says Crystal, "I see things."

"You're about to see the inside of a police car," says Bo.

Marlena says John's body was exhumed at her request and cremated. She didn't want the DiMeras to get it. She hands Nick an urn, "See if you can put the pieces back together." Nick agrees to do what he can, but says DNA evaluations are hard to perform with ashes. He can test to see if they are human, though. He takes the urn and turns to leave. As he opens the door, Roman shows up.

Roman tells Marlena Bo and Hope have picked up Crystal. He asks about the urn, "What's going on?"

Kate arrives at Sami's place. Sami opens the door. Kate says, "Well, it looks as if 'the Mrs.' is home."

Out in the hall, a couple of thugs walk by carrying a couch. EJ stops them and asks what is going on. One of the guys gives EJ a piece of paper. EJ reads, "I should have guessed." Sami comes out and asks what's up. "Apparently," says EJ, "Daddy needs a new couch. He is repossessing my furniture. Technically it's not mine. With the SEC problems and Myth-Ick demise, I signed things over to him." He tells the movers to put it back and hands them a wad-o-cash. He tells Sami he has to go take care of this.

Sami goes back inside and tells Kate she doesn't want anything to do with Lucas. She also doesn't want to talk to Kate. Kate says Lucas needs his wife's help.

"You mean his ex-wife," growls Sami.

"You really are a DiMera now," says Kate. She hands her the letter and says if she cares she will help. Kate leaves. Sami stews. She clutches the letter, and then opens and reads it.

"Dear Sami. I know you are angry with me and I am sorry. I made a mistake. We are all paying for it. All I wanted to was to live our lives in peace and love. I miss you and our family so much. I really need your help. Please call Phillip. He will set you up with my attorneys. We are a team and we can beat this. You are my only hope. You are my life. Don't ever forget that. Lucas." Sami cries.

Marlena clams up. Roman starts to run and catch Nick, but Marlena stops him and tells him John's ashes are in the urn, "He wanted them scattered over the poppy fields of Peru." Roman says he's worried about her. Marlena says she just has to know for sure if John is alive, so she's having Nick run tests. She insists Crystal is a legitimate psychic and figures she must know things about John. Roman thinks the only way she knows anything about John is that the DiMeras may have filled her in.

"There is only one way we can find out," says Roman.

"Let's go," says Marlena. And with that, Roy and Dale head out on another adventure.

EJ arrives at Stefano's place. Stefano offers EJ a drink. EJ asks him about the couch. "How did you put it," asks Stefano, "What is mine is mine and what is yours is yours. That is your mantra?" He rages about EJ keeping him away from his grandson.

"I see," says EJ, "My sofa for my son."

Stefano bellows, "Do you think this is a joke?"

EJ rants about the "project." He tells Stefano what he is doing is despicable.

Bo and Hope grill Crystal back at the station. They want to know how Crystal knew. "I'm a psychic," says Crystal. Bo accuses her of working for Stefano. Crystal says she is self-employed and has never met the owner of the building, "Either arrest me or let me walk."

Sami shows up and Phillip introduces the hotshot attorney Cameron Reece. Cameron says she understands there is some tension between Sami and her ex. Cameron tells her about the insanity defense.

Sami can't believe they're going to try to make Lucas out to be insane, "It's his mother that's..." Phillip cuts her off.

Sami continues, "His mom is a..." Again, Phillip motions for her to cool it. Sami looks at Cameron and mouths, "Nutjob." She assures Cameron that Lucas is the sanest person she knows.

"So," says Cameron, "You must have a small circle of friends. And I guess you don't know Lucas that well, do you?"

Sami says she knows Lucas better than he knows himself, "And yet, you want me to say I drove him insane. I wonder who is really doing the driving here."

"You, Sami," Cameron runs through the litany of things Sami has done to push Lucas over the edge, including divorcing him to marry her rapist. Sami says she feels like she is the one on trial. Cameron pushes. Phillip asks Cameron to leave and says he will handle it. Cameron goes.

Phillip tells Sami she doesn't have a choice. He plays his trump card, "Do you want the twins growing up with Daddy locked up in prison?"

"That depends on which daddy they lock up," says Sami. She says Will is barely speaking to her and this won't help.

"If you don't do this, Lucas is toast," says Phillip.

"And I have to be the scapegoat," says Sami. Phillip knows it's not fair. Sami says it's also not fair Lucas didn't ask her himself, "To hell with you and to hell with Lucas."

Satan looks over his little book, "Yyeeessss, I actually have reservations for all three of you."

Stefano says the couchnapping was a minor warning. EJ says he hasn't told anyone what Stefano and his cracked friend Rolf are up to. Stefano says if he interferes he will destroy everything EJ holds dear.

EJ asks, "Everything or everyone?"

"Both," says Stefano. EJ says he wants everything back, including his trust fund. Stefano toasts, "And if I refuse?"

"I walk out that door," threatens EJ, "I go and see the Brady brothers and let them know who is living in your basement."

Marlena and Roman barge into the police station. Marlena asks Crystal about Brady and John and also asks why she ran, "Tell me... Is John alive? Answer me!"
