Those Little Male Swimming Things

Libby the bartender, M.D., serves Shawn a beer, but tells him not to drink too much, "Alcohol won't help those little male swimming things hook up with Mimi's eggs."

"That was too technical," says Shawn, "It went way over my head, but thank you for that advice anyway." Shawn tells her Mimi thinks adoption is great, "but giving birth to your own is an experience you will always treasure." Flash forward to Mimi having the baby and screaming in agony, "I'll treasure this."

Belle comes up to Shawn at the bar. Mimi and Phillip have both conveniently crashed. She orders a club soda, which Shawn thinks is boring. He's psyched about the possibilities. He tells Belle about the amazing miracle of those little male swimming things.

"I'm coming apart here," says Belle.

Carrie flashes back to her kiss with Austin. It has been a strange night. Austin says, "Being handcuffed to you isn't exactly torture." Speak for yourself. He doesn't think this situation is good for business. She wants to know if business is the only thing that is ever on his mind. With his mind, he's lucky to be thinking about anything.

Lucas and Sami argue. He wants to know what's up with Lexie and Sami, "I'd be an idiot not to be suspicious of you."

"Then why are you suspicious," asks Sami, "You managed to forgive your mom, but she's the reason we aren't together."

"You have to accept responsibility for your actions," says Lucas, "You pulled that whole Stan thing, and then you ran to my brothers arms."

Sami says, "He accepted me when you were willing to lock me up and throw away the key. He listened to me. It's gonna end differently this time. Because you are engaged to Carrie."

Lucas says, "I still want to know what's going on with Lexie."

"Don't worry," says Sami, "She won't say a word. I have it covered."

Lucas threatens, "If you ruin my future with Carrie you'll be sorry."

"Just stay out of my way, Lucas."

Kate and John sit at a table in the Java Café. Kate offers to get John more coffee. John would rather have a drug a little stronger than caffeine. He computes, "The ISA hasn't had any luck finding Doc."

As The Roulette Wheel Turns, Alex and Marlena wander through the casino. Marlena has never been in a place quite so breathtaking. She apologizes for giving Alex such a hard time. She thanks him for bringing her there.

Alex thinks, "My plans for you don't include going back to Salem. Ever."

Hope and Patrick break off the smoochfest. Patrick says, "You belong with Bo. You should go back to your marriage."

"What marriage," asks Hope, "He broke our vows. Does that sound like a man who wants to be my husband? It's time for me to move on. I'd like to do that with you. I want you so much... please." Fade to the fire. "Make love to me," whispers Hope.

Patrick asks, "Are you sure that's what you really want? I mean, the fire... the moonlight... it's all pretty seductive."

"It's not the moonlight," says Hope, "It's you. Any other man would have taken advantage of the situation long ago. Patrick, we were meant to be here tonight. I need you. Make love to me." Patrick picks her up and carries her off to the bedroom.

"I'm gonna light the lamps," says Patrick, "I want to be able to see you." Hope twirls her wedding ring. Fade to body parts as Al Green sings Simply Beautiful...

Meanwhile, Alex tells Marlena this is only the first of many surprises. He hands her a jewelry box, "Happy honeymoon." She opens it. A heart shaped pendant. Alex asks, "Does this remind you of anything?"

"Wal-Mart," asks Marlena, "But it also reminds me of how much I love you, and that you'll take care of me for all the Days Of Our Lives." She runs off to try it on.

"Excellent," says Alex, "Now I won't have to drug her nearly as often to get her to do what I want." He lights a cigar.

John stares at his computer, "Nothing! The crazy bastard has just disappeared with her." He whacks his computer. That'll teach it. "If I don't find them he will kill her. He told me so himself." He has a flashback to Alex telling him he will kill Marlena in case we're too dumb to remember it.

"There is another possibility," says Kate, "Maybe he was taunting you when he said that. Maybe you are the one he wants to hurt. What better way to do that than to get you to do something so you will wind up in jail?"

"Interesting theory," says John, "Even though baiting me is like taking candy from a baby, I'm not buying it. Because I know he really doesn't love her. He wants to control her for some sick reason."

Kate tries to be encouraging, "You'll figure it out and you will get her back and the two of you will live happily ever after. I have it on good authority she is coming back to town very soon."

John wrinkles his brow, "Huh... wha..."

Lucas asks, "Why do I need you in order to hold on to Carrie? We are going to be pronounced man and wife soon."

Sami says, "I wish I knew what that part of the ceremony feels like."

"Look," says Lucas, "This may be tough for you to absorb, but Carrie and I are in love. She's everything I have ever wanted."

"You need to set your goals higher," says Sami, "But I'm happy for you."

Lucas beats the dead horse, "I still want to know what's going on with Lexie."

"Forget about her," snaps Sami, "I can handle her. I'm gonna see if the cops are still here." She peeks around the curtains, "No. They're gone. Let's go find Austin and Carrie."

Austin doesn't get it. They were becoming close, then she did a 180. He asks if it's about the takeover.

"No."

"Then its' Sami," he says.

"No," Carrie really thinks Sami has changed, "If she could have her heart's desire, though, she would have Lucas."

Austin says, "If you could have your heart's desire, it would be with me, wouldn't it?"

Belle tells Shawn she was out of line with what she said earlier. Shawn says, "It's OK, and now Mimi may have to opportunity to get pregnant, if that complex male swimming thing theory works. Claire is the reason I want to be a father so bad."

"I know," says Belle, "And I know why."

Birds chirp. "OMG," says Patrick, "This was a mistake."

"No," says Hope, "I just have so many feelings inside me all at once. But I'm not sorry we got this close."

"I wish I could take all your sadness away," says Patrick.

"You can't," says Hope, "It's a part of me. Always will be. It doesn't mean I can't have other feelings as well."

"I know what you man," says Patrick.

"That's why I am so grateful," says Hope, "You understand. Do I need to show you again?" Round two begins...

Kate tells John Marlena told her she was coming back to Salem soon. Fake flashback. Marlena tells Kate she feels connected to the people in Salem, so she will come back. Alex adores her so he won't have a problem with that.

"She definitely wants to come back," says Kate.

"Maybe she doesn't realize it's not her decision," growls John, "If it's up to Alex she will never come back alive."

Alex puffs. His cell phone rings. He answers and says, "I hope this means you've found a buyer for the penthouse and all its belongings."

"I have a few hot prospects," says the agent, "I'm especially finding people who are interested in the antiques."

"No," says Alex, "I want it sold as a package. All of it. If your buyer list isn't that large I can find another agent."

"No," she says, "I'll find a buyer."

Alex smirks, "I think I've just come up with a prospect who will be desperate to have this penthouse and all its belongings."

John's phone rings. It's the agent. She tells him she's representing the property, "Alex wanted me to give you the first opportunity to purchase it."

"I know you love me as much as I love you," says Austin, "Tell me what I can do so we can be together."

Carrie flashes back to Lexie's genetic mutation speech, "We just have to let it go."

"Why," he grovels, "Tell me the truth."

"I don't want to hurt Lucas," whines Carrie.

"Maybe together we can find a way to work through it," says Austin, "Tell me. I love you so much. We can be together."

Lucas shouts through the door and asks if they are in there. Austin tries to get her to stay quiet, but she opens the door. Lucas comes in and announces the coast is clear.

"Awfully cozy in here," says Sami, "How did you two pass the time?" Austin remembers.

Carrie says they talked. "What did you do," she asks.

"Ahem... Choke..." Lucas remembers. He says, "We tried not to kill each other." He hauls them out of the storeroom.

Austin yanks Carrie back, "We are not done talking. To be continued."

Belle doesn't think many teenagers in love were like them. All they could talk about was having kids. Shawn thinks it was because of JT and Zack. "They were in my life back then. It's hard to believe they aren't now." Mimi can't wait to be a mom. He can't wait.

"You are such a good husband," says Belle, "I was a fool to let you get away."

"That didn't have anything to do with me getting away," says Shawn.

John asks what the agent means. She tells him about Alex wanting to sell the penthouse and its contents as a package, "I'll be in touch."

John hangs up and tosses his phone. That'll teach it. He tells Kate what's up, "I told you he has no intention of coming back. He had her call me purposely. I have to find them before he kills her."

Alex chortles, "This is all so perfect. I end up the winner, with John's money and his precious 'Doc.' He winds up cursing me till his dying days."

Marlena walks up behind him and says, "Alex, you have gone too far."

Hope and Patrick wander through the casino. Hope doesn’t regret making love. She feels so happy. As they walk into the next room, Hope stops and says, "OMG, I don't' believe it."

Belle stands up. She is so happy for Shawn. When she sees Mimi and him them with a baby, their marriage will be real to her, "Not that it's not real to me now." Yeahright. Shawn figures out if things work out, their kids would be the same age, could go to school together, grow up together and all that.

"Thanks for still being my friend," says Belle. Hugs.

Lucas asks Jada to unhandcuff Austin and Carrie. Jada announces they have won, since they are the last couple still handcuffed. Carrie wants the money to go to a charity that helps children birth defects.

Jada tells them the cops found nothing, "If I ever find out who called in that phony tip..." Sami remembers.

Austin pulls Carrie aside and tells her he is still waiting for his answer.

Lucas comes over and tells her he is sorry she was handcuffed for so long. He goes to get her some water. Sami rushes them along. She wants to get out of there. Austin drags Carrie off. He presses her, "We belong together. Help me to understand this." Focus on Sami.

Shawn is glad Belle is happy, too. Phillip is such a good guy. Things worked out the way they were supposed to. "And Mimi is wonderful, too," says Belle, "Truthful, no, wonderful, yes." They decide things worked out the way they should. The bar closes and they stand alone in the dark. Oh! The metaphor!

Marlena says the concierge has told her Alex booked a day at the spa for her. "I promise you this is a honeymoon you will not forget," says Alex. Kiss.

Hope smiles as she sees the flaming dessert, "I can't believe this is me having fun."

Patrick feeds her "heaven in a spoon."

"That is delicious," says Hope. Patrick kisses the residue from her cheek as Marlena and Alex walk by.

Alex asks if Marlena feels like trying her luck. Yes she does. She feels lucky tonight. "Enjoy it while you can," thinks Alex, "Your luck is about to run out."

John rants, "He has no intention of bringing her back to Salem. He's going to kill her. She'll be lost to me, her kids and everyone in Salem forever." John works his jaw. FF
