Cosmic Justice

Chloe sleeps. Chloe stirs. She calls for Brady. No Brady. Chloe finds a note, “Ran out to pick up a surprise for the woman I love,” it says. Chloe rises.

She contemplates herself in the mirror and repeats what Marlena said about Brady not being able to see the scars, “Will he love me if he can see them,” Brady walks up behind her with a bouquet of weeds/flowers.

“I will only love you more,” he says. Smooch.

Chelsea complains she could be making out with Max right now instead of moving. Patrick is nowhere in sight.

Abby asks, “How do you like your new room?”

“Not exactly the MTV crib is it,” says Chelsea, “But I’m going to be sharing the bathroom with my true love.”

Billie asks, “What am I doing? This is all wrong.”

Patrick comes back. He has the new keys for Billie and Chelsea.

“Maybe this wasn't such a good idea,” says Billie. Patrick stares.

Shawn paces in his cell. He can’t believe he’s behind bars when Belle has decided to stay married to a man she doesn’t love. He flashes back to the conversation on the plane. He tosses his tray, “I have to get out of here before she makes the biggest mistake of her life.” What, decides to leave Phillip for some jailbird loser?

Mimi walks up to the cell and asks, “What makes you think it was a mistake? Did you ever think she wants to be with Phillip?”

Belle wheels Phillip. Phil says, “I’ve waited so long to get this prosthesis and I’m a little nervous now. I know I will have to do a lot of rehab and work but for right now it’ll just be exciting to stand up. I want you and I to start right where we left off.”

Belle daydreams. She’s thinking of Marlena’s big announcement. Phillip notices she is distant and asks what’s wrong. She says, “I’m just thinking about my mom and dad.”

“Is there a problem,” asks Phillip.

Belle says, “Not exactly, but remember when Dad said he has a big surprise for Marlena? They are renewing their wedding vows tomorrow.”

Belle doubles over in pain or nausea, “What is the matter with me?”

“I can’t believe you just said that,” says Shawn, “You think Belle should be with Phillip? What she has decided is to play the dutiful wife. Why are you here?”

“I’m worried about you,” says Mimi, “I wanted you to know you have my support and I know what it’s like to be locked up in here. I’m here for you.”

“Thanks,” says Shawn, “I’m sorry I yelled at you.” Smiles all around. “The only thing that would make me feel better is seeing Belle right now.”

Lexie comes in. She examines Belle. She says to come in later and she will check her out. Lexie goes to see if Philip’s specialist has arrived.

“I’m sorry, Phillip,” says Belle, “The last thing you need is to worry about me.”

“You’re my wife, that’s my job. I’ve been leaning on you. It’s your turn to lean on me. You are my whole world. If anything happened to you I’ don’t know what id’ do,” says Phillip.

“Brady you are an amazing man,” says Chloe, “I’m talking about the way you look at me and say you can’t see scars. I think something is preventing you form seeing me the way I am.” Bad writing?

“I love you,” says Brady, “When you had leukemia you lost your hair and I didn’t love you any less then.”

“That was different,” says Chloe, “I have seen the way people look at me with pity. In time... I can’t believe I let your father talk me into singing at the wedding thing. I can’t do it.” She runs out. Brady stares.

Billie says, “This just doesn’t feel right.”

“We’ll have our privacy,” says Patrick.

Billie says, “Ever since I came back to Salem I’ve been staying with friends and family, and that was fine when it was just me.”

Patrick says, “Chelsea’s 18. She probably won’t be around very long. She wants to go to college. I’m thinking this will give you time to sort things out.”

Billie says, “Yeah, for me and for Chelsea. Maybe you’re right. It’s settled for now anyway.”

“Welcome to your new home,” says Patrick.

Billie says, “Thanks Patrick. You know you do have a nice place here, Lockhart. I just hope Chelsea will be happy here.”

Chelsea talks about bedroom and bathroom arrangements, “Billie gets her privacy and I get Patrick. The next time he plans on taking a shower, I’ll slip in with him. I’ll pretend it’s an accident.”

Abby says, ”Chelsea, he’ll know it wasn’t an accident. He’ll throw you out.”

Chelsea blurts, “If you think I’m so stupid why do you hang out with me? You’re starting to get on my nerves.”

Shawn is frustrated being locked up. Mimi wishes she could help. He asks, “How did you get in here anyway?”

Mimi says, “I told the guard you’re my boyfriend. I remember a time when all I wanted to do was go out with you. You remember when we kissed?”

“I do, in Paris at that bistro,” Says Shawn.

“I wanted to be kissed in the city of lights. You were so sweet to kiss me there,” says Mimi.

“It wasn't a hardship,” says Shawn, “You were a beautiful girl and you’re a beautiful woman now.” Your body matured and left your brain in the dust.

“Thank you,” says Mimi.

Shawn says, “I’m just glad you’ve been cleared. Now you and Rex can be together.”

“Maybe,” she says, “There’s a lot I haven’t told Rex.”

“What are you afraid of,” asks Shawn.

“Losing him forever.”

Inquiring minds want to know, “What could you have done to make you lose him?”

“Something unforvigable,” says Mimi, “I was pregnant with his baby and had an abortion. Rex doesn't know anything.”

The doctor tells Phillip, “Fitting you for a prosthesis should be no problem.”

Phillip talks about his visit form Heather.

“You’ll be able to do anything you used to do,” says the doc. He kicks Belle and Lexie out to go over a few things with Phillip.

Lexie and Belle go into the examining room. Lexie asks all the standard questions. Belle isn’t sure when her last period was.

Lexie asks, “You’re not sure?”

Belle says, “I used to be regular but now I think stress is affecting it. OMG, you don’t think I could be pregnant, do you?”

Brady is on the phone with Marlena. He appreciates it, whatever it is. He goes back inside and calls Chloe. No answer. He knocks. She puts her pouting on hold and comes to the door, “I’m sorry I got so upset.”

“Chloe,” says Brady, “this is all very overwhelming. You’ve cut yourself off for a very long time.”

Chloe says, “I’ve got this thing about my looks. It goes back to the orphanage and high school when they called me ghoul girl. This accident has taken me back to when I thought I would never fit in. I guess it scarred me more ways than one. Now can I see people staring at me. I don't think I can take it.”

“I understand you’re scared, but you will be surrounded by people who support you. It doesn't matter to them.”

“It matters to me,” says Chloe, “How can I get on the stage looking like the phantom of the soap opera?”

Delusional Brady says, “I look at you and you are as beautiful as ever. We can make an appointment with another plastic surgeon.”

Chloe says, “Dr. Weiss is the best in his field, but he couldn’t help me.”

Brady says, “You have to trust me. Can you do that?” Chloe stares.

Billie and Patrick finish bringing in the boxes.

“Thanks again, Lockhart. I wanted Chelsea to have a home. She’s at that age when she could get into a lot of trouble,” says Billie.

“Especially,” says Patrick, “if she keeps hanging around with Max. Kids at that age don’t take advice so well. Of course you and I were never like that.”

“Oh, yeah, never,” says Billie, “I’ll just try to build her trust and I can keep her out of trouble right?” Patrick sighs.

Abby knocks. She finds Chelsea sniffing around like a half-grown pup.

Chelsea sprays some cologne and huffs around in the lingering cloud, “Incredible. If you’re smart you'll just sit back and learn how to seduce a man.”

Billie knocks, “Do you need any help?”

Patrick comes in behind Billie and takes a big whiff, “Is that my cologne I smell?”

Mimi says, “I should have told Rex but the timing seemed all wrong so... you know.”

“He loves you, Mimi,” says Shawn.

She tells him, “Jan found out I had the abortion and started blackmailing me.”

Shawn says, “The evil doll makes sense now. Her falling seems like cosmic justice or something.”

“Now,” says Mimi, “because of the abortion I can’t have kids.”

Shawn says, “Don’t blame yourself. You can always adopt.”

“If Rex still wants to marry me,” says Mimi, “I’ll bet he dumps me.”

Shawn asks, “Does Rex really have to know? There is nothing you can do to change things. If I were you I wouldn’t tell him.”

The doc has everything he needs. Phillip has questions, “Is it possible to live a normal life with an artificial limb.”

“Of course.”

“All due respect,” says Phillip, “it’s easy for you to say. If you had lost a leg...” The doc hikes his trousers. Prosthesis.

“I actually feel better, says Phillip, “I need to be able to support my wife. I need to be there for her.”

“Loss of a leg won’t prevent you from doing that.”

Phillip says, “There was a time when I was in combat I thought I was never going to see her again. Now I’m never going to let her go.”

“These symptoms could be a sign of pregnancy,” says Lexie, “Let’s just wait for the test results to be sure. What else is bothering you?”

“I just want Phillip to know he can count on me. And Shawn is in jail. There are so many things worrying me,” says Belle.

Phillip wheels into the room, “I think it’s my fault.” Them’s fightin’ words, Phillip. Everything is Belle’s fault. Just ask her.

“Brady,” says, Chloe, “I love you, but I don’t see how you can help me. I don’t want to live the rest of my life looking like this.”

“That’s why I called Marlena earlier,” says Brady, “Have you ever heard of a surgeon named Dr. Travis?”

Chloe says, “Dr. Henry Travis? He’s the most renowned plastic surgeon in the world. He trained Dr. Weiss in the proper application technique for flesh-eating bacteria.”

“He’s a friend of Marlena’s. We can call him,” says Brady, “as long as you don't do this just for me. I love you just the way you are.”

Chloe asks, “What did I do to deserve you?” I'm having Belle's pregnancy symptoms. Well, the nausea, anyway.

Brady says, “Just don’t stop loving me, OK?” He sweeps her off her feet and into the bedroom.

Chelsea says she spilled some of Patrick’s cologne. Otherwise, things are cozy. Patrick says he’s going to show Billie her room and take a shower.

After they leave, Chelsea says, “Oh, Abby, he leaned into me and took a whiff. Once he sees all of me he won’t be able to resist.” The shower comes on. Chelsea’s clothes come off.

“You are totally insane,” says Abby.

Brady has a surprise for Chloe. Go look out the window.

She asks, “A horse and carriage?”

“Yep,” says Brady, “Just like the one we rode in in Colorado. I called Domino’s Horse and Buggy Delivery Service and had them bring one over.” Flashback to Colorado. Kill time. Kill time.

Chloe says, “And remember the video we made? You were wearing that cowboy hat. When I was in the hospital I watched that video and dreamed about being together again.”

“Now we can be together for all the Days Of Our Lives,” says Brady.

Chloe jumps back in bed, “Oh, wait, what about the horse and buggy?”

“That can wait,” says Brady.

“What’s done is done,” says Shawn.

“Everyone else has given me the opposite advice,” says Mimi. And what a coincidence, everyone else who gave you that advice wasn't in jail.

“And you haven’t listened to them,” says Shawn.

“One mistake I haven’t made is coming to see you,” says Mimi, “You’re the best.”

“Is that what you’re going to do,” asks Shawn.

“No.”

He says, “You and Rex sill have a future together. Just like Belle and me - you believe that, right?”

Mimi says, “It doesn’t matter what we believe. It’s what Phillip and Belle believe.”

Lexie leaves Phillip and Belle. Phillip is concerned Belle has had so much on her mind lately. She’s carrying an 18-wheeler load in a half ton pickup.

“Please just hold me,” says Belle.

Abby says, “You’re going to freak Patrick out.”

Chelsea says, “When he sees my body he’s going to flip out, not freak out.” Because he’s really attracted to anorexic skanks.

Chelsea moves into the bathroom and drops her towel. FF.
