It's All About MEEEEEEEE...

There was no DOOL Feed today because tomorrow is Thanksgiving and NBC will preempt DOOL and show the National Dog Show instead.

So... instead of a recap... by popular demand, here it is. All about...

ME!

By the time you get to the end of this thing, you may not know much more about me, but the demand won't be so popular. Just rambling here... those of you familiar with the likes of Nicole, Sami, Lucas, EJ, Chloe... I could go on... are familiar with rambling. Those of you familiar with Rafe, not so much. Rambling actually requires a stream of thought, however slight and disconnected.

Most of this, by the way, is true. Maybe.

The first DOOL scene I remember seeing was Maggie Horton on crutches. Yes, way back then. As a child, of course. Me, not Maggie. My Mommy was watching the show and I was attempting to help her keep hold of reality, but she had been watching DOOL for years and was too far gone.

The Prevuze blog started almost as a joke and didn't take long to catch on. I'm certain it's one of the larger blogs on Blogger. In fact, right after Google purchased Blogger, they "sandboxed" Prevuze because it was getting so many hits and producing so much material they thought we had to be up to something. Given our content, it should have been obvious we were up to no good, but the Google guys didn't figure it out. For three grueling days I had to word-verify everything I did until they decided Prevuze was legitimate.

There are multiple members to the Prevuze team, but I write the blog myself. I consider anyone who is a regular contributor or commenter to be an integral part of the blog. I'd start naming them but I'd for sure leave someone out. Y'all know who you are.

The first "Prevuze" featured one of the characters being impaled by a runaway flagpole on the 4th of July. I think I've lost that manuscript. If I ever find it, I'll publish it. It was never posted on the Internet. Internet posting of Prevuze didn’t start until long after that.

I live in the Midwest US — Midwest being defined as an area bordered by Ohio, Minnesota, Colorado, Arkansas, and points in-between. That may not be your definition of the Midwest, but it's mine.

The Prevuze Compound really is a compound.

I have a dog, Killer, and a cat, She Who Will Not Be Named. The cat just showed up one day.

I am a total technophile. I honestly believe one would have to be, in order to publish a blog like this, especially to keep it consistently going when I'm on the road. The fact that I can start with a satellite signal and hop-skip and jump it to the Prevuzemobile no matter where I am sometimes amazes even me. I invented the contraption I use to do this and call it the Sat-o-saurus®. Electronic stores nationwide will be marketing them soon.

The Prevuzemobile is either a huge camper or a small motor home. Take your pick.

I have a master's degree from a large Midwestern (see previous definition) university. It's known for its academic excellence in my field(s). I did my best to drag that down. More importantly, however, it has multiple NCAA basketball championship banners hanging in its fieldhouse. Let's get our priorities straight, people.

Committed relationship? Yes.

Committed? Probably should be.

I play an active and fairly significant role in one of the world's largest charitable organizations. No brag, just fact.

I've written scads of magazine articles and regularly contribute to two.

I've been working on a book for four years. It will take at least another two to complete. It doesn't matter what it's about, it would bore you to tears. No, sorry, although it sounds like it would be, it isn’t about DOOL. Yes, thank you, I do have a publisher.

This past summer, I won a charity golf tournament.

I have been to every state in the US except one and plan to go there this coming summer. Yes, that will affect Internet reception so stay tuned.

I never miss the Indianapolis 500. If you want to meet me, that's the place. I trek to Indy every year and always have a blast. You can find me easily. I'm the one wearing the "Indy 500" cap surrounded by 300,000 of my closest friends... All Prevuze readers, no doubt. (And I think Sarah is a better driver than Danica, given equal equipment.)

OK. That golf thing. Not totally true. This past summer I played on a team that won a charity golf tournament. The team contained a player who was, in sports parlance, a "ringer." The "ringer" won the tournament. I was along for the ride.

Carefully avoiding discussion of religion and politics...

Also carefully avoiding anything of substance...

I exercise daily and usually read your Prevuze comments, tweets and such while I'm on my treadmill. It helps kill the boredom.

Obscure movie I really like: The Great Race.

I think the most overrated thing in the universe is: HDTV. Here's a thought: how about improving the quality of the content rather than the quality of the picture?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Lightning Round (from one of those lame Internet quizzes)...

Are you male or female: Yes.

Beatles or 'Stones: 'Stones.

And... A blast from the past from the "I Felta Thigh" sorority story two years ago. Yes, sometimes we come close to crossing the line.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

And the biggie: Why do I do this? I suppose a bevy of shrinks could work on that for a long time and either never come up with an answer or come up with one so complex none of us could understand it. On the other hand, I often ask myself why I do it. I could also come up with a pretty complex answer as to why. Suffice it to say this. I do it because you like it. At least most of you tell me you do. So you're collectively either pulling the biggest con-job in history or you like it. I prefer to think it's the latter. When you stop liking it, I'll stop doing it.

So there you have it. That's not exactly ALL about me, but it's as far as I'm willing to go. And now you know... not much more than you knew before.

But what we do know is tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so after you get that turkey in the oven take a minute or two to read Prevuze. Tell me if you like it. And then go stuff yourselves silly and start that diet on Friday. Or Monday. We'll be here tomorrow to start your day off right.

P.S. Of the four pro teams playing tomorrow, I used to live in (well, technically near) one of those cities. Thought you might like another meaningless tidbit.

Wow that was the most riveting writing I have seen in- well since the last holiday where we had no DOOL. I would say you should write for DOOL but than what would we have to make fun of?

Way to go Prevuze - you are probably Michelle Obama, but I Heart you anyways.

Happy Gobble Day. And if you eat too much - watch DOOL and that will surely eject the unwanted calories you have consumed.

I absolutely want to buy your book in two years. You'll have to drop a hint when it comes out... Like, I don't know, THE NAME OF THE BOOK. Harry is settled with Jenny and Edward with Bella. Finally, I have something to wait for again :)

I've never left my name, but I've read your blog for about two years now. I wouldn't start my morning without it. From and addict to the object of her addiction: thanks for your humor and dedication to this blog! You're my kind of heroin.

I'm impressed. Prevuze has really ripped away the veil of secrecy, laying bare everything, revealing all there is to know.

Well, all except the really important thing...where the hell IS Pookie??

Guess we'll have to wait for the dog show tomorrow to find out.

In the words of my verification today - I feel like I really knowush Prevuze now. Thanks. LOL

It would be interesting to hear about everybody's first memory of DOOL. I remember watching it in the early 70's when I was about 10. Marlena looked exactly the same as she does now. Seriously. I remember a scene where Marlena and Don Craig were eating breakfast, then Don started coughing because he choked on a piece of toast. Then for the rest of the show and the next couple days, he had a really hoarse voice, and he'd explain "I choked on a piece of toast this morning." So they created that whole toast choke scene just to explain his hoarse voice. Drama!

We need more hints about the location of the Prevuze compound. Are you near an international airport, a river, the ocean, Chicago, the mountains, and an evil warehouse?

Three creeks run through the Prevuze compound. We call one the Allegheny. We call another the Monongahela. Those two meet to form a third creek and I'll bet you can guess what we call that one.

Depending on your definition of "near" you could say we are "near" all of those.

Well, OK, there aren't too many oceans "near" the Midwest.

I don't remember the first Daze scene I saw but the overall storyline - the viewers were in on the big secret that Mike was actually Bill's, not Mickey's. Quite a scandal back in those days and we hadn't seen it every year on every soap yet. That story, believe it or not, seemed to go on for years. It made the baby switch storyline feel like a few days in comparison. Mike didn't have to be SORAS'd to be a teen when they found out, the actor actually grew up before they ended it. Well, maybe it's an exaggeration but I sort of remember it that way. HA

Prevuze - if you make a ton of dough on the Sat-a-saurus and/or your book are you going to keep doing Prevuze for us? YOU WOULDN'T BECOME LIKE A TYPICAL SALEM PARENT AND FORGET ABOUT US PREVUZE READERS WOULD YOU?!!??

Sorry, a little Sami hysterics there. I've composed myself. Thank you for the autobiography and especially the daily posts. I couldn't get thru a workday without them.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I enjoyed the Lost Symbol and thought it was good. I must say, however, having read all of Brown's major works, by the time I was done with the Lost Symbol I was in Dan-Brown-Overload. FYI, Didn't like the ridiculous ending to Angels & Demons.

I don't know where Pook went. Maybe if you find her, you'll find Tommy Horton too.

I hate to admit this (it tells you how old I am) but I have been watching Prevuze since day 1. Not uninterrupted of course. I was in high school and was out every day in time to get home to watch.

Not really fair. DOOL goes on & on like the proverbial bunny, while Dark Shadows has been gone forever.

I usually hate days when they pre-empt DOOL because it means no Prevuze. Not today though.

Since I can't even remember how and why I started watching DOOL, my first memory is pretty foggy. Could it be I'm repressing those memories? Anyway, I do recall staring at Tom, Alice, Bill, and Julie. One the memories I have been unable to repress and can't seem to exorcise from my brain is Julie bouncing and jiggling around in a form fitting black lace thingie.

Thank you for the insights into the person behind the Prevuze curtain. I always knew you had to be a Renaissance Man/Woman/Person. With Prevuze, getting up early and logging onto the computer is always a treat and a joyful experience.

Since I'm not a pretty face like Rafe, I have to be able to string together several semi-coherent thoughts to get through life so I appreciate your willingness to allow the faithful to channel their inner rambles. Prevuze, you're the best!!!

I don't think you could be too near, and still fit your definition of 'midwest'! Your definition of near might be 'a day in the car'?

I first started watching DAYS not too long after it started. The family was visiting an aunt for a week. We "had" to watch her soap with her. I remember her telling us some of the back story including the fact that they had just discovered the guy Marie was engaged to was really her brother, Tommy. He was back from the war with amnesia and a different face.

Like Bulldog, that was really far-out stuff for back then.

We got back home from vacation and Mom picked up watching DAYS as well, sucking me into the addiction right along with her. ;-)

On another note, while you're trying to evade the answer it's obvious that you're an Ejami, because you took the centrist approach in posing the question, and you're playing it Safe by putting Lumi as your obvious first choice.

All that being said, I'm so glad you took the time to enlighten us with your rich DOOL history and I truly think you have a shot at being nominated for AC's HERO next year, for your constant selflessness in trying to deliver this drivel to us every week-day morning! YOU are my HERO Prevuze!

I too love to read your blog every day. And I'm proud to be passing the DOOL gene on to my two daughters. The legacy of the Bradys, Dimeras, Hortons, Alamains, and Kiriakisessess will live on until they bring MORE families into this crazy...er...I mean "entertaining" town.

I enjoy Prevuze and look forward to it every day even though you make unfounded remarks about my Rafe. The man is smarter than Brady, he put Nicole in jail didn't bail her out. . .he is smarter than EJ, he knows how to tell if a woman is pregnant. . .he is smart enough to figure out the baby switch. . .he knows to butter up Caroline to get somewhere in Salem. . .he knows women like back and neck rubs. . .and well he is gorgeous which has nothing to do with being smart but sure doesn't hurt. Now if he could find Pookie he would be perfect.

I always check for a Saturday special, as those are the days I actually have time to post a comment. I don't know how or WHY you even do this, but I know for sure I am extemely THANKFUL for Prevuze. I remember the problems that Blogger had after Google purchase it. I never get upset if for some reason, Prevuze has to post later in the day. I feel as though I know Norris, your satellite guy personally. It's a good thing you have those side jobs in order to keep Norris in his Jaguars and Mercedes. I don't think you'll ever have to worry about people not wanting to read Prevuze because like everybody else here, I read Prevuze more than I watch the show now. Compared to some people here, I feel like a baby because I've only been watching the show for 23 years now. I don't remember what the first scene that I saw was, but I remember going by my friend's house every day and watching DOOL because my mom wouldn't let me watch it.

As far as the hints of who/where you are, DON'T TELL US ANYTHING ELSE! I always pictured you like the Willy Wonka of the Days world (the original, not the creepy Johnny Depp remake) and the compound as the chocolate factory. Going inside any further takes all of the mystery out of it.

Many won't believe me when I say it but I really don't have much of a preference (That does not speak for all of the aforementioned Prevuze team members, however). I really see my job as being to report and find the humor in any of them.

Having said that I get emails and comments all the time (not really an exaggeration) that go something like this:

"You are always putting down (Insert Lucas, EJ or Rafe) and you never make fun of (Insert the names of the other two)."

So while my "preference" hasn't changed over time, the characters have, and the character I think they have changed most over the years is Sami. Note this from 2½ years ago: CLICK HERE. At one point I seem to remember Sami being a fairly shrewd operator and over the years they just seem to have turned her into an adult-o-lescent.

When I think of the relationships in that quadrangle the main thing that comes to my mind is that a) the writers have no real clue what direction it will wind up going and b) even short term changes they make in the feelings of one character for the other are based on trying to manipulate viewership more than to create an interesting story line. And all that makes for crummy writing in the long term. I've probably said enough.

Oh, one more thing. Of course I don't want them to leave the screen forever because that's where I get my material.

I've been watching off and on for about 30 years. I think I stopped watching for a few years during the Marlena possession storyline, but it's all a blur. Anyway, bad writing or not, I love the show, and Prevuze makes it better and more fun. Loved the hints about you, but I have no clue about the Midwest, other than the Indy 500 takes places somewhere in Indianapolis. (My husband would know - he's a big racing fan; he got mad at me the other day because I pretended not to know it was run during the memorial day weekend, or is it July 4th... And he would not like that comment about Danica- he's a big Force fan). Anyway, keep it up - you have real writing talent. Maybe you could write for DOOL. Think about it, please!!!

Was the golf tournament the 2009 BMW Charity Pro-Am Tournament held this past May? Do you work with the YMCA or Big Brothers & Big Sisters?? Love you prevuze even if I don't know your real name or have seen your real face - your refined wit, twisted sarcasm and bashful sacrilege towards all things DOOL are welcomed and enjoyed!

As the person who originally posted the "who are you" question two weeks or so ago, I first of all Thank You.

Second, I've always pictured you male, and the Indy thing pretty much confirms it for me. In my stereotypes of male/female, men like Indy, women like soap operas. But, reading your blog, I can't really make a case for you Liking DOOL. So male you remain.

I am just amazed at the commitment to the blog, it's posted super early in the AM, and since you live midwest time zone, I'm thinking, that's a commitment. I'm glad you do it, too. It's better than the show - in fact, the times I've read the blog and decided to watch, the actual show is a let down.

My mom brought me to a baby sitter when I was 3 or 4 and that's when Bo and Hope were courting and I cried for Bo and Hope instead of nap. I could hear the big console TV through the wall between me and the living room...

Thank you Prevuze.

Long time reader, occasional commenter. Thank you, Prevuze, for your Burlesque Bio -- you revealed just enough but left us wanting more!

My first DOOL episode ever was in college, when Patch died. A bunch of gals took over the common room to cry and hug each other while Kayla sobbed over his hospital bed. I lost interest a few years later, then worked with someone who got hooked on DOOL during the Salem Stalker years. I tuned in when Jen had to turn off the machines keeping Jack alive.

I don't remember when I transitioned from watching DOOL to relying exclusively on Prevuze, but I've been a faithful reader for a few years. I start my day with it and check in throughout the day for the excellent comments from my fellow Prevuze readers.

Once I emailed Prevuze directly, asking about a coffee drink concoction Hope mentioned on-air and I had no idea what it was. Prevuze was kind enough to check it and determined Hope was ad-libbing. What other blog gives you service like that? None!

Dear Prevuze,

Though life has gotten in the way of most of my Prevuze reading time, I still check in occassionally and wish I could keep up with all of your posts! I'm so glad to have read your All About MEEEEEE post! I really must get back to Prevuze since I ALWAYS laugh and enjoy EVERY bit of it! Thanks so much for all your hard work and giving me such good laughs! My first memories of DOOL was back when I was in the 3rd grade (I'm almost 43 now.) My grandmother had come to visit for 3 weeks over Christmas and she watched DOOL every day. I have been addicted EVER since! I even scheduled my college courses around DOOL and spent that hour in the NBC TV Room in the Student Union. It was blast to be with a bunch of other DOOL addicts every day! I don't remember much about the first time I watched with my grandmother but I remember Hope being about 6 years old. Julie and Doug were on and I think Hope's mother (can't remember her name). I thought Hope was such a cool name! That is the legacy my grandmother left me, thanks Grandma!

Once again, thanks Prevuze for a great blog! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

I'm just now catching up on my Prevuze reading... I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms! Thank you so much for telling us about youuuuu, even though you've left us with as many questions as you answered! Thanks also for keeping up this blog. I look forward to it every day and judging from the comments, so do a lot of people.

The first DOOL storyline I remember in any detail was Kristen/John/Stefano/baby Elvis, so I was very excited when they brought EJ to the show. Before that I mostly remember the blond Jack and the Billie played by some chick that (I think) had previously been a porn star. How pathetic is that, lol?

Oh, and I also wanted to say that I love the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Last time I read the series was in junior high (a looong time ago) and was thinking about re-reading soon. The old British TV series was also a hoot.
