NBC chickens out.
This past Saturday, NBC issued the following press release:
"NBC is not planning live coverage [of the Michael Jackson memorial], but will wrap up highlights in a one-hour prime-time special Tuesday night. Chris Jansing will anchor live coverage of the memorial on MSNBC."
I must admit, I was shocked. "Holy cow," I thought, "The dipwads who run NBC actually have a pair."
Well, it seems the NBC brass underwent a cojones-ectomy and subsequently backpedaled like Roberto Duran shouting "No mas" while being pummeled by Miley Cyrus. In the wake of NBC's complete 180° on Sunday I received the following update from an eagle-eyed Prevuze reader:
"NBC executives changed their minds Sunday and decided to join other networks that will televise Michael Jackson's memorial service live this week. NBC had initially planned only a one-hour prime-time special on Tuesday night, but said Sunday it would also cover the event live. It was not immediately clear who would anchor."
So, unsurprisingly, NBC execs collapsed like a wet soufflé and we once again find ourselves without a DOOL feed. The empty suits at NBC couldn't bring themselves to break away from the mass of news-lemmings marching into the sea. Nosir! True to form they chickened out and elected to show us something that will be on every other channel on the face of the planet.
Don't they understand they have a responsibility? It's time for us to move on from Michael Jackson and start dissing Sarah Palin.So here we are, stuck again in DOOL feed limbo. Enjoy your day and I PROMISE we'll be back with a recap tomorrow.
Unless, of course, the President gets a hangnail.

noooooo! I was so wanting to see what would happen on Days man this is so uncool couldn't MJ die some other time of the week.
I have just come to the conclusion that I am a very shallow person. I so don't want to see a singers funeral. Haven't other singers died before? I guess he just never really cared a rats butt about me so... so I guess I returned the favor. He didn't change my life in anyway that I can recall. But I do feel sorry for his family and how they have made a circus out his death and funeral. Could it be a private affair for the family and close friends of the man? NO LETS SELL TICKETS It all seems over the top. Besides aren't there any other news stories that the media can keep us informed of, this one has rigamotis.c

Sniff, sniff....yes EJ, I do smell some rubber, but it's not a baby bumper - it's some fake body parts alright.....uh well yah that was so bad of me...this is what happens when we have no Prevuze. We are left to entertain ourselves like a bunch of grade school kids.
At least if the President got a hang nail it would be news instead of this fake hysteria. Maybe Bulldog's banner should read that Daniel is bringing in a patient who has been watching the Michael Jackson coverage.

Dont worry, this morning GMA is giving us a break from Michael coverage with Sara coverage. When they need a break from Sara coverage they give us Michael coverage.
Apparently, Prevuze is telling me that when I get home this evening and fire up my DVR, I won’t be viewing Sami, Nicole, and/or Stephanie blubbering uncontrollably. It’s going to be masses of brain challenged weeping idiots with far too much disposable income. Fans are flying in from lord knows where to attend the grief orgy at the Staples Center. The State of California is broke, and now it has the burden of dealing with the overflow of humanity that can’t get into the arena Since Michael Jackson’s life was a circus, I guess this send off is sadly appropriate.
I’ve avoided all the media excess by boycotting the television coverage. However, I did cave in slightly by reading an article in Time so I feel I’ve paid the obligatory homage to the life and death of the King of Pop. Obviously, I will simply delete what shows up on my DVR today but the burning question is – will I get today’s episode on SoapNet? OK, I admit it. I could give a rat’s a@@ less about the memorial service. I’m also going to take a wild guess and say I’m in the majority on that one. If NBC hadn’t back peddled, it’s very likely they would have had a ratings blitz fueled by those desperate viewers fleeing the Michael Jackson carnival. Since DOOL is in dire straits, new fans would certainly be a plus.
Thank you Prevuze for filling in the faithful on today’s maudlin activities and entertaining us with snarky photos. It’s nice to know that Sarah Palin is off to Bora Bora to join Steve and Kayla, and the DOOL group photo has provided yet another opportunity for humor.
Today's epi will be aired tomorrow - which is why Prevuze had no feed today. I can't wait to see Melanie get that pail of water dumped on her! :)

Well, we knew it was coming, but I was so hoping that NBC’s coverage of MJ's fare-thee-well was just a "fantasy" and I would awaken to the "reality" of a nice, snarky Prevuze recap. [*sigh]
BUT, almost as good is a Prevuze rant! I'll be chuckling over Palin's farewell speech all day. I was also relieved to see another group photo op.
While I feel for L.A.'s quandary over how to pay the OT for security at this Jackson memorial, all I can think of is - DON'T HAVE IT! And/or make the organizers pay for it. Talk about a lack of cojones!
I will bide my time. Boycott any MJ coverage. Look on the bright side (one hour I can immediately delete from my DVR). And wait for tomorrow's thrilling episode.

One thing you have to remember this is the memorial not the funeral so days may be prempted again for the actual funeral.

Personally I would rather watch the funeral then sit through a boring episode of Days when they bather on about the same thing over and over again.
With all the fake angst and the crying and the stupid dialog it will be nice to get a break.

I blame the media. The sheep who probably didn't care a whit about MJ are now in agony because every network has told them they must. How embarrassing is it to get actual world news we in the US have to tune in the BBC? The big three networks could have told of his death and then went on with real news. But they were too afraid they'd be outdone in the ratings by TMZ and Access Hollywood. I, like everyone else, plan to avoid all of them as much as possible.
Something not to avoid - Prevuze. LOL over the group picture. Perhaps it wasn't a new baby bump but the group accumulation of Botox and implants.

It happens that Ringling Bros circus arrived in LA and they had the traditional parade of the elephants from the train station early this AM to the Staples center, where the show starts tomorrow!
I find it interesting that when two other 'icons' died, and in my opinion, both had more talent things were handled differently.
Elvis' funeral was 2 days after his death. John Lennon, even with delays due to the murder investigation, things were finished in less than a week, with even over 150,000 in Central Park NYC, without the need for riot police on call!
As far as the funeral, I heard it's to be this AM, private, before the 'memorial' service.
So, except for court battles in the future, the 'news' should be over today! hooray!
They were having a private memorial service the body is going to be at the public memorial the sad part they don't know where there going to bury him. The family wants neverland ranch if they can get aproval

When Elvis died, they placed him in a crypt/vault at a local cemetery for a period of time, until they got the permits and prepared the site at Graceland, etc Then, all they had to do was go get the coffin and move it, no exhumation. Simple & dignified, not a circus!

i mean yea maybe it can be on tv but does it really have to be practically on every channel known to man??? and SELLING TICKETS TO A FUNERAL????? how shallow can someone be? i mean its bad enough that he died but selling tickets to get in to his funeral?? its not like you can pay your respect to him in a room full of housands of people with no room to move at all
to be fair the tickets were free. they did not charge any money for that. other than that i agree it did not need to be on every channel known to man, and yes there is other actual news to be covered. i think it would have made more sense to like have a michael jackson news half hour after the actual news so if you wanted to see it you could and if not you could still watch some actual news.

For the rest of you insensitive people, I understand Days can be addicting, having watched it myself since I was 12, but please, a family lost a son, brother, and father. Show some respect and tomorrow you can go back to dissing Sami and Nicole, ect. I personally, was quite happy to be able to see his memorial service aired on TV.
I know this is late for a reply but... What could be more insensative than having to deal with the grief of your only parent in the public eye. I am speaking of MJs children. Because having gone through losing a parent at a very young age, you don't really know how to act what to say what is expected of you,and you feel like you are under a microscope.
I also know that parents lose their children to death everyday. Just because they can sing doesn't make the deceased a saint.It isn't entertainment any more.c
