The Cuban
Marlena drags John down a corridor at the hospital. He understands why Marlena is there but can't figure out why he has to be there. "You're his cousin," says Marlena.
John says, "I keep forgetting about the Brady part."
Marlena says, "Maybe because you're so focused on becoming all DiMera."
Patch and Stephanie march into the hospital to check on Bo. Patch walks up to a nurses' station, "Excuse me. We're relatives of Bo Brady. Can you tell me if there has been any change?"
"No," says the nurse, "He's still an obstinate, donut-sucking cop with an IQ in the single digits, his wife is a chronic gossip, his daughter is an incorrigible brat, his son is a product of the 'no idiot left behind' school system and his daughter-in-law is an imbecilic tramp. Oh, and his younger daughter is still missing."
"I'm glad things are fairly normal," says Patch. He sees a guy standing across the room and sends Stephanie off while he goes to talk to him. Patch walks over, "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be protecting my wife." Stephanie listens.
Hope tries to encourage Bo. The three docs walk to the nursing station. Kayla and Lexie gang up on Dr. Jonas and badger him about the experimental procedure. Kayla asks, "Why didn't you at least mention it?"
Daniel says, "Well, Maybe because odds are it won't be successful. It's dangerous for the recipient and the donor." Kayla says it may be their only hope. Victor walks up and chimes in, "In that case, you have to do it."
Max walks into the church and finds Caroline praying. He joins her in the Rosary.
John thinks Marlena is bothered that he has the DiMera money. Marlena says she is bothered by the fact that he's excited about it. He tells Marlena to go in with Bo while he gets some air. On the way out he pats Patch's shoulder.
The shadow insists he's on the job. Patch sends him to find Kayla. Stephanie walks, "Is that guy watching Mom or me?"
Caroline and Max wrap things up. Max says he has closed the pub, but didn't have time to clean up. Caroline will have something to look forward to once she gets back home. Caroline appreciates the way Max is stepping up and says OMB would be proud of him.
Bo thinks they would already be treating him if there were something they could do.
Phillip, Chelsea and Shawn have joined the doctor's confab. The miracle worker doesn't want to get people's hopes up. He walks off and Kayla and Lexie follow like a couple of ducklings behind their mother.
Shawn thinks if Dr. Jonas saves Bo it will be thanks to Victor. He and Chelsea go in to see Bo. Phillip has a couple things to run by Victor. Victor tells him to handle it and goes for air.
Bo assures Hope, "I'm doing my damndest to fight."
STOP THE PRESSES! Belle comes into the room carrying Ciara, who has been there in the hospital all along being treated for SORAS-itis. She tells her dad high school is a real kick so far.
Patch tells Stephanie it's only a precaution. Stephanie wonders why she has never seen the guy following her, "So where is my tail?"
"You couldn't find it with both hands," says Patch.
Daniel thinks this is a really risky procedure, "Two people could die."
Bo is really happy to see Ciara. With her in the room, his condition improves slightly, so Belle decides that's the signal to get her out of there. Belle hauls her off after the touching five-second visit. Phillip joins the deathwatch and asks for a minute with Bo. Hope protests but Bo sends her off. He needs the break.
Phillip tells Bo to fight like hell. Bo asks, "So we're gonna start acting like brothers now, huh?"
Marlena finds Hope, who tells her Bo is getting weaker by the minute. Hugs.
Victor finds John on the balcony enjoying a hand-rolled Cuban. He is also smoking a cigar. He tells Victor he came out there because they wouldn't let him smoke inside. "You shouldn't be smoking out here, either," says Victor.
"Report me."
John says he's running Stefano's empire, "You and he had a mutually beneficial arrangement. That's all about to change. Nothing lasts forever, including your shipyard arrangement. Stefano wasn't interested in what went in or out of the Salem port, but I am."
Victor says, "If I read between the lines, which isn't too difficult with you, you're threatening to play hardball. Why the heads up?"
"I'm not my half brother," says John, "I just lay it out for the world to see."
Phillip and Bo know they grew up differently. Bo thinks Phillip is bonding because he is dying. Phillip says, "No, I'm just starting to realize family is more important than money and power, as long as I'm the part of the family with money and power. Get well and you can tell me whenever I'm acting like a jerk."
"My voice isn't that strong even when I'm well," says Bo.
Hope rushes in and asks if Bo is OK. Bo thanks Phillip as he leaves. Bo wants Hope to eat. She says they can go have a big meal together whenever he gets out of there.
Patch eyes Kayla's tail. He also takes a look at the guy who's supposed to be following her.
As Chief of Staph, Lexie decides they should do the transplant. As the person who actually knows what he is doing, Daniel refuses.
Caroline finishes praying, "I've just asked your father to watch over Bo."
Max asks, "You're praying to OMB?"
"I don't have many connections up there," says Caroline.
Stephanie joins them and tells them about the radical new procedure. They decide to go up and hover. Stephanie hangs back. Max watches as she prays, "Please, God, protect my family. Especially my Uncle Max."
Daniel just wants everyone to know the downside, "The donor is at risk, too. Kayla decides the family can get together and draw straws, "If no one agrees to be the donor, I'll just find someone who's a match and rip out the pancreas. I'm good at stealing organs." Daniel will agree to perform the procedure if Bo and Hope are OK with it.
Shawn and Chelsea return. Phillip tells her has been no change, "But Daniel Jonas will figure it out. He's one of the best diagnosticians in the world."
Chelsea says, "I just hope he didn't get here too late."
Phillip says, "He was only an hour late, but that was because of daylight saving time." Shawn thanks Phillip for his concern. Belle walks up. She has left Ciara back in the street and God knows where Claire is. Max and Caroline join them and then go in to see Bo. The rest of them discuss the situation, and then brood in silence.
Max goes overboard telling them how much help he can be, "I'll do whatever it takes. I'll clean your house. I'll do your laundry. The laundromat – a great place to pick up chicks... Second only to grocery stores."
Bo says, "I'll keep that in mind."
Hope has a conniption, "You'll what?"
"Oh, I forgot you were here," says Bo, "And believe me, that's not easy to do."
Daniel heads for Bo's room to make Bo and Hope aware of all the possibilities.
Patch runs into Kayla. She tells him about the transplant but says it's risky, "There needs to be a live donor." No way, Jose, does Patch want her to be the donor.
Victor thinks John has turned into a robot, "If you want to be a mogul, you have a lot to learn."
"I'm a quick learner," says John.
"Not quick enough," threatens Victor as he leaves.
Marlena comes out. John tells her he and Victor were just discussing business. "This is a bad time for that," says Marlena. She tells him about the living donor program.
"Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt," says John. He lets the smoke curl around their faces.
Marlena asks, "What is that thing?"
"It's a hand-rolled Cuban," says John.
"How did they get him in there," asks Marlena, "And why are you smoking it so fast."
"I have to finish it before we go back inside," says John, "It would be a shame to waste it."
Marlena yanks it from his mouth, tamps it out and hands it back to him, "Relight it later."
Victor is morose. Phillip asks what's up. He tells him John Black is going to be trouble and they need a strategy.
Jonas tells the crowd the experimental procedure is the only way to go. He sends Shawn into Bo's room to get Hope.
Once Hope has joined the group, Daniel tells them about the procedure. Hope asks what happens to the donor. Daniels says the donor could have serious issues. If Bo's body rejects the transplant, he dies. And the donor could meet the same fate. There is no way to predict success or failure. Everyone steps up to be tested. Daniel says he will only take healthy donors. He won't even test someone who might be at risk.
John steps up, "I think Bo should go for it."
"What do you care," asks Victor.
"I don't," says John, "So I am the only one who can be objective. What are the alternatives?"
Marlena tells him to be more sensitive. John says, "When the chips are on the table, you gotta go for broke. Right Victor?"
Victor agrees. Hope votes to do the procedure. She goes back into Bo's room and tells him what's up. Bo rejects the idea.
Patch doesn't want Kayla to jeopardize the pregnancy. She tells him she won't even be tested. Patch decides he will.
Hope tells Bo there is no other way. Caroline plays the trump card. OMB died so Bo could live.
Shawn, Belle, Max and Caroline wait in the chapel. The miracle-workers run tests in the lab.
The remainder of the family joins the folks in the chapel. Marlena walks up and puts her hand on Belle's shoulder. Phillip stares. The candles up front practically set the place on fire.
Lexie peers into a microscope. Jonas does the same. Up in the chapel – more candles. John does some kind of two-finger hand maneuver, which must mean something. He may be awkwardly attempting to make a cross, but it comes off more like one of Old John's Kung Fu moves. Bo and Hope cuddle.

Dear Prevuze:
I just wanted to drop you a quick note of thanks. Because of one of the pictures in today's posting, thousands of your readers are scurrying to their Bibles today. It's the first time some of them have cracked the Good Book open since... well, the Great Flood. Thanks for the plug. I need it these days. And remember, always include an asterisk when using those naughty four-letter words.
The Lord
"Excuse me.
Great stuff Prevuze!!! You are certainly better than anything about this installment of DOOL.
I am impressed that God reads Prevuze. He probably dozes through Daze like the rest of us. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Jawn's 'master of the house portrait'; Snot funny; and the timer for the rolls (after 15 minutes those rolls will be MORE than ready!) were all fabulous photos!
As Chief of Staph, Lexie decides they should do the transplant. As the person who actually knows what he is doing, Daniel refuses. LOLOLOL
After discussing it with everyone in Salem except the patient, Daniel heads for Bo's room to make Bo and Hope aware of all the possibilities.
Can the medical profession be portrayed as any more lame?
Leslie already quoted one of the Prevuisms I was going to use to note that Prevuze isn't letting DST affect the quality of the reporting. Glad to see you folks are still on top of your game!
I just wish someone had thought to reset my internal clock. Thank goodness I had Prevuze to help get me going this morning.
STOP THE PRESSES! Belle comes into the room carrying Ciara,
Prevuze, are you sure it was Ciara and not just ANOTHER Claire? Or maybe it was Ali?
Hope rushes in and asks if Bo is OK. Bo thanks Phillip as he leaves. Bo wants Hope to eat. She says they can go have a big meal together whenever he gets out of there.
Oh NOW Bo wants her to eat?? Did he just now notice what we have known for years..the girl is in serious need of a sandwich, a dinner roll, something!!!
So Bo needs a transplant. Explain to me how exactly Steve or John could possibly be a donor??
Steve isn't even remotely related, and they just spent the last month making sure we all understood that Bo was NOT NOT NOT related to the Bradys, but now all of a sudden they are pointing out to John that Bo is his Cousin???
The donor list would be a short but distinguished one:
Victor, Phillip, Chelsea, and Shawn. And that's about it for blood relations.
I LOL'd when they actually had to point out Kayla couldn't be a donor. DUH, pregnant women can't even donate BLOOD, much less a major organ, regardless of how uncomplicated their pregnancy is.
And speaking of which, be sure to check out my blog today!
These Are The Daze Of Our Lives
Prevuze, are you sure it was Ciara and not just ANOTHER Claire? Or maybe it was Ali?
I swear, when Belle walked in with the kid, I had no idea who it was. The way they SORAS kids on this show, for all I knew it was Peanut.
Victor finds John on the balcony enjoying a hand-rolled Cuban. He is also smoking a cigar.
Prevuze, you are deliciously naughty on a Monday morning. As always, I loved this and all the other prevuisms today.
How true that picture of Claire would be! It looks like she'd be traumatized by the water after their last sailing experience.
I love Jawn's half-cross-half-Kung Fu-deep-thinking mode. Also "So where is my tail?" "You couldn't find it with both hands," says Patch.
I'M still groggy today but Prevuze is as alert as ever. Thanks!
Daniel 6:16 - I totally get it. Very clever.
What I want to know is how the same person who comes up with biblical references like that can also come up with the naughty cuban refrence.
What I want to know is how the same person who comes up with biblical references like that can also come up with the naughty cuban refrence.
I'm a very conflicted person. 'Conflicted,' of course, being a euphemism for 'off your rocker.'
As always, Prevuze never fails to amaze me with her ability to know just about everything possible and relate it somehow to DrOOL. Love the pictures and Prevuisms.
Oh, and God, if you can hear me, I couldn't find my bible so I just Googled "Daniel 6:16".
Very clever, Prevuze!
Many of Bo's relatives are related to him on his mother's side.
Amber
How many doctors does it take to treat a patient?
In Salem, minimum of three.
They don't even know Bo's diagnosis yet and they're already coming up with treatment options!!!! Ridiculous.
Chelsea is the match.
I have yet to see Dr. D wear a lab coat.
It'd be nice if Shelle leave Claire behind when they sail away. I like Claire's scenes with RoboJohn.
Why aren't EJ and Tony and Lexie moving on disqualifying John as the benefactor of Stefano's things? Especially EJ as he has no funds of his own.
Why doesn't Max get back into racing? Remember when he first came on? He was like a racing God and now, he probably doesn't even own a car.
I really need to stay home and watch an episode of DOOL.
I'm forgetting what people look like.
I have to say this one sounds like a snooze. I am so glad Prevuze is around to inject some life into these storylines and common sense on occasion.
I am so glad Prevuze is around to inject some life into these storylines and common sense on occasion.
Gee, Brendamouse, I notice how you qualified the 'common sense' part with 'on occasion.' Yeah, I guess we're better known for injecting life than for our common sense. Common sense is for wimps.
I'm confused. Marlena invited John to dinner. John asks Rolf if she can cook. Then Rolf is cooking dinner at the mansion. How does one do that? Invite someone to dinner and then have their butler doing the cooking?
This ep was kinda of a snoozer.
John actually mentioned having a cook so I'm sure Rolf is just serving the food, not cooking it. I could see him doing the rolls over a bunsen burner.
Rolf hasn't lost the accent yet.
Wonder if Marlena will roust Stefano because she doesn't like what John has turned into.
