Little Miss Know It All

It's the Long, Hot Summer being played out in Salem as shirtless Shawn sits in front of a fan and Mimi comes out sweating. We hear a baby crying in the distance. Mimi says it sounds like Claire is having a bad night. Shawn says, "No, I'm pretty sure that's Belle, but probably neither of them can sleep." The air conditioning is off. Shawn can't stand the baby crying. Phillip is over at the VA getting his new brain prostheses adjusted. Shawn runs over to Belle's apartment to help.

Mimi makes a call, "It's me. I really need you."

Belle comes to the door in her slip. Stanley and Stella stare at each other. Shawn walks over and comforts Claire. Claire settles down since she relates to Shawn on the same mental level. Belle is amazed. She feels like the worst mother in the world sometimes. She wonders what will happen when the new baby cries. Shawn tells her Phillip will be there. Belle goes on a tirade against Phillip, saying she and Shawn should be able to raise their baby together.

Dr. Floozie tends to Jack. Jack has an out of body experience. "Hell, Lexie," says OBE Jack, "at least you got the diagnosis right. That was a first. We all gotta go sometime."

Lexie tells in-body Jack she is sorry and leaves. OBE Jack says, "It's deja vu all over again." He starts to leave via the window as Abby comes in and tells him he can't die.

Lexie tells Jennifer to let Abby say her private goodbye. She is soooooo sorry. Jennifer tells Frankie she doesn’t understand how God could bring Jack home just to take him away. Frankie says, "To say goodbye." He has Jennifer come with him.

The laws of relativity tell us nothing can move faster than the speed of light. Lucas mouth proves that isn't true as he tells Sami to open the envelope, "What does it say, Little Miss Know It All?"

"I can't tell you," says Little Miss Know It All. Sami walks off and the rest of the frivolous fivesome chases her. Sami claims it's a surprise. EJ chastises her. Sami sticks to her story. She's working on this big thing for Austin and wants to include Lucas and Carrie. Lucas mouth takes on a life of its own as he presses her to tell. Sami claims she can't tell or it wouldn't be a surprise. EJ urges her to tell. Sami says EJ is in cahoots on the surprise. EJ plays along. Austin can't wait to find out what it is. Neither can Sami.

Lucas takes Sami aside, "I've got my eye on you."

"You like the view?"

Lucas says, "Nobody in this room knows you better than I do, so why don't you tell me what is going on."

Jennifer and Frankie go into a room. Jennifer can't believe Jack is really dying. Frankie has something that will help – A note from Jack. She opens it and stares.

Abby tells Jack he can't leave her. She says she can't talk to Jennifer like she can talk to Jack. OBE Jack listens as she begs him not to die. He says he does love her and can't break her heart. He can't just leave his family.

Mimi goes to the door as Patrick arrives. She tells him she needs a shoulder to cry on because Shawn ran to Belle's rescue when he heard Claire crying. Patrick asks if Mimi told Shawn. Of course not. "I'm not lying I'm just not telling the truth," says Mimi, "If Shawn found out the truth he would leave me for Belle in a second."

Patrick says, "You gotta tell him the truth – tonight."

"I don't know what to do," whines Mimi.

Belle accuses Shawn of not dealing with their situation. Shawn claims he feels bonded to Belle, Claire, Mimi and a few others. Belle says, "I have been thinking."

"God help us all," says Shawn.

Belle says, "You felt a bond with Claire before the transplant. I think I know why you feel so close to her. You are the same mental age."

Mimi overhears and stares at Patrick.

Belle goes on, "You felt close because she is my daughter and because of how you feel about me. Now, with this new baby we feel even closer. Even when you ran off with Jan I was still in love with you."

Shawn reminds her of a small detail, "Your wedding vows are sacred." They travel down the well-worn path as Mimi listens.

Frankie says he got the note from Jack. Jack asked him to give it to Jennifer if "the end" came.

Jennifer reads, "My dearest Jennifer... If you are reading this I have filed my last story. I always wanted to be a great journalist, but I was never in that league. At least I was well above the level of a DOOL writer. Anyway, I made my peace with that. There are other ways to leave a lasting impact. Mine is my family. The fact is, and I am all about facts, you made me a better man. I will live on in your spirit and you will live in mine for all the Days Of Our Lives... uh afterlives."

Abby keeps begging Jack to live. She reminds him he has to walk her down the aisle someday. OBE Jack remembers his wedding dance fantasy with Abby and, b'gosh b'golly, decides he has to live. He begs God.

Sami wants to know why Lucas is always so suspicious. She cares about Lucas and Carrie, "You're like a brother-in-law to me."

Lucas apologizes for being suspicious. He never meant to hurt her. If it weren't for her he wouldn't be alive. She asks if he would do the same for her. He kids her, "I'd have to think about it... Of course I would." He leaves to check out the hallway.

Sami protests, "I told you who left the note."

Lucas leaves anyway. EJ tells Sami she is on borrowed time. He thinks the note was delivered so that everyone would find out about it and now Sami has to throw a big party. She tells him to butt out, "I handled it."

"Yes," says EJ, "And how will you handle it the next time?"

Austin tells Carrie they need to talk about the fact she is not pregnant. It changes everything. Carrie insists she and Lucas are still married. She tells Austin they can't go back. He reminds her she is the one who brought it up. He claims she never would have married Lucas if she knew she wasn't pregnant.

Jennifer continues to read the note. She finds a second page Jack wrote to Frankie, "I'm putting this in writing, so it's official. You are the best friend. I've been able to make peace with my mortality because Jennifer won't be alone. You will be a good and understanding father and husband. It has been an amazing journey for us. This is where I leave you behind for now, but always know I wish you every happiness. Jennifer cries. Frankie comforts.

Abby prays. OBE Jack listens. Abby tells God she believes He can save Jack. "That's my girl," says OBE Jack. He remembers the last time he came back from the dead. It's hard to keep them straight, though. Then he remembers the time before. Or one of them. Then the time in the jungle. "Nothing will take me from you again," vows Jack, "Abby is right – I haven't used my nine lives yet." His machine flatlines. Jack screams, "NO!"

Shawn says the new baby will bond them for life but it doesn't change the fact he is married to Mimi. Mimi and Patrick barge in. She came in to see what was keeping her husband. He says he's setting up the fan. Patrick asks if he can help. Shawn says yes. Plugging in a fan is such a complex task for some of us.

Thank heavens! The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! Belle doubles over in pain.

Carrie tells Austin she is Mrs. Lucas Roberts. He suggests she could be Mrs. Austin Reed. She reminds him he is engaged to Sami. Austin says, "Engagements can be broken."

"I don't want you breaking my sister's heart," says Carrie.

"What about your heart?"

Sami reads the note, "You are a blackmailing bitch. You forced Lexie to tell your sister she couldn't have children with Austin. That was a lie. If Carrie knew the truth she would be with Austin and never speak to you again."

Sami looks up at EJ, "Not exactly a Hallmark card, huh?"

Lucas runs up claiming he has figured things out.

Jack's machines scream. OBE Jack rants at them to keep him alive, "Well, if you won't I will." He decides to give it his best shot. He gets back into his body and squeezes Abby's hand. Abby thinks this is a sign. Jack's flatline goes flatter. Abby begs. The doctor comes in and calls a code blue.

Lucas says he doesn't think the guy he saw dropped off the note. There was an open window. He thinks someone was trying to rob the apartments. Sami quickly agrees. Lucas says he shut the window so they don't have to worry any more.

Carrie comes up to them and says she wants to take a bath and call it a night.

Austin has to go up onto the roof and finish cleaning up. He doesn't want Sami helping since the dinner was for her. She thanks him and tells him he has made her the happiest woman in the world. Austin heads for the roof.

EJ tells Sami the ring is beautiful and Austin loves her. That's why she has to tell him.

Belle insists she will be OK. "I'm not taking any chances with our child," says Shawn. He asks Mimi to take care of Claire as Belle doubles in pain again. He drags her out.

The crash-cart team has Abby leave the room. Jennifer runs up and joins Abby in mid-crisis. They beg Lexie to save Jack. Frankie, Jennifer and Abby huddle.

Stanley carries Stella into the hospital. Belle screams. She is afraid they are losing the baby.

Mimi calms Claire down. She says she can't believe Claire is the reason she is in this mess. Then she decides Mimi is the reason she is in this mess. Good call. Patrick tells her it's nice of her to stay and sit for Claire.

Mimi says she never should have lied to Shawn. "What are you going to do," asks Patrick.

"I wish I knew."

Jennifer reminds Abby they promised Jack they would be strong. Abby doesn't want to be strong. She wants Jack alive. Lexie comes out with a hand covering the tortured look on her face. "It's a miracle," she cries, "his fever broke. The drug may be working after all. I'm cautiously optimistic he will pull through."

Jennifer and Abby run in. Lexie doesn't know what to say to Frankie. "This is how it's meant to be," says Frankie. He remembers Jack's note and repeats, "The best friend anyone could want. Way to go Jack."

Inside Jack's room – family hug.

Sami thanks EJ as he leaves. He reminds her she can't keep putting this off. She says she will sleep on it and maybe come up with something. He gives her a peck on the cheek and tells her to call him in the morning.

Sami takes off her shoes. Lucas comes out in a wide-open robe and clears his throat. He goes to the bathroom door and tells Carrie to hurry. He goes back into his bedroom as Sami slugs down some wine and heads for her room.

Carrie comes out of the bathroom into the empty living room. She tiptoes over and puts a chair in front of the window. She sneaks up to the roof.

Austin blows out a candle. He sees Carrie, "You came."

Carrie says, "It sounds like you wanted me to." Hot kiss. FF.

Austin tells Carrie, "You're keeping something from me, and you need to tell me what it is."

Mimi sits at her computer and says, "OMG, I don't believe this." Bonnie looks over her shoulder and chuckles with delight, "Good Lord Almighty!"

Belle sits in her hospital bed and tells Shawn, "We have never stopped loving each other. Not really. And even if we wanted to try to stop it we couldn't. And that's just the way it is."
