Why Should He Buy The Cow When He Gets The Milk For Free?
Today class, let us consider that old adage, "Why should he buy the cow when he gets the milk for free?"
You probably think you know what that means. Generally speaking, you might think it suggests something like why should a person make an expensive, long-term investment when the benefits of that investment are available without it? It clearly alludes to having to go to the expense of caring for a cow in return for the milk it provides. This raises the question, why would a rational person do that in order to get milk the cow provides when the same rational person can get the milk for free? Following so far?
It is a metaphor that generally applies to a couple having sex prior to the investment of a long-term commitment, in most cases meaning marriage. And it is usually used to caution the female in the relationship that her male partner won't enter into a committed relationship as long as she'll keep having sex without the commitment.
And that is pretty much what you've always thought it meant, right?
OK. Let's recap because I might have been a little obtuse up to this point. "A little" being defined as "a lot." So, the phrase in question is generally thought to mean, why should a guy commit to a gal in a long-term relationship when she's banging the hell out of him anyway? Less obtuse?
BUT...
Let's look at this adage from the perspective of the Stef 'n Ho relationship. Kate (the 'ho' in Stef 'n Ho) has, shall we say, a somewhat checkered past and has been known to accept money in trade for... uh... the milk. Think of it as milk money.
And Stefano (the 'Stef' in Stef 'n Ho) has been known to purchase the aforementioned milk.
OK. If I'm still being obtuse, let's put it this way... Kate was a hooker and Stefano was on occasion her john. Less obtuse?
Yet, I ask you, was he getting the milk for free? NO! He had to pay her for it.
Did he buy the cow? YES! He married her. Begged her to marry him, in fact. Truth be known, he FORCED her to marry him.
So what can we conclude from all of this? What does, 'Why Should He Buy The Cow When He Gets The Milk For Free' really mean?
It's simple. Girls, charge him for the milk! Become a prostitute – he'll marry you.
Discuss among yourselves.
And make it a great weekend. That's not up for discussion.

What a Saturday morning treat.
But now, I'll never hear little Susie or Johnny ask for milk money in the same way again! LOLOL
Thanks, Hope you have a Happy Easter.

All week it's been a great Stef 'n Ho series. But let us consider. What Salem couple might that why buy the milk expression NOT apply to? Anyone? Bueller? - - - - c r i c k e t s - - - -
I can't think of one either. Anyway, thanks for the Saturday edition and don't eat too many chocolate bunnies everyone! :D
Word verification: pedamyd. As in with all of Sami's kids it's almost like she in a pedamyd scheme.
Thank you! I laughed so hard, I cried.
Look at it this way. When the Stef 'n Ho knot was tied, Stefano guaranteed he could be part of the "Got Milk?" campaign. With that typed, I would recommend that Stefano turn to a vegan diet. By switching to soy milk, he can ditch the cow.
Have a happy Easter everyone!

Well as you recall, Shawn and Belle vowed to keep themselves "pure" until their wedding. Then, in an incredible turn of events there was a barn fire and it seems the barn was not the only thing that got hot. Which may beg the question, if you can't remember it, does it count? We may never know the answer to that one, but what we do know is, remember it or not, you can still become parents.
This statement sounds a lot like Bo's current arrangement with Carly.
lol! So, are you suggesting that if Kate were to have the occasional "headache" from now on, she should mention to Stefano that he should have bought the poultry instead???
