Free To Be As Indiscreet As We Want
Dark... becoming light... an alarm clock goes off and Stephanie smacks it, "OMG, Phillip, it's time to get up."
"After last night," says groggy Phillip, "who needs sleep?"
Stephanie announces she can't wait to marry Phillip, reaches in the drawer beside her and gives him a present. Phillip opens the box to reveal some kind of silver charm. "Luck of the Irish," says Stephanie.
"I don't need it," says Phillip, "I already got lucky last night." He moves in on her and apparently is about to enjoy some more luck.
Melanie watches the incriminating Internet tape of her and Phillip cavorting. She hyperventilates and squeals as Nathan walks in. When she sees him, she slams her computer shut. Nathan is carrying a couple of sacks, "Here... brain food." Obviously Melanie hasn't had any of that in a while. Nathan rambles on, "I just wanted to tell you... I saw it."
If you think "it" is the Internet sex tape like they want us to think, you will be required to repeat DOOL 101.
Sami has school supplies for Will. Will says Lucas already got him that stuff and thinks Sami should be saving money until she gets a job. The word job sends Sami into state of shock, but she recovers. Will wants her to take the supplies back. Sami agrees and offers a bagel at the Java Café instead. He declines and tells her Mia is coming over, "I know you miss Johnny and Allie. Now that Rafe is gone you can't just sit home and be sad. If I were acting like you right now my friends would tell me to get a life."
Brady calls Arianna. She's at the pub but announces it's her day off. He suggests she come over for another swim. As Arianna hangs up, Rafe walks in and she greets him. She asks how things went in the Dominican Republic. He says not well, "Sami thinks Nicole has been a better friend in her time of grief than I have. I think she's right. I can't hurt Sami again."
Nicole asks Mary about Stefano. Mary says she had an early appointment. After Mary is out of earshot, Nicole tells Sydney if Stefano found out Baker had a letter sent to Sami and Mia he would kill her.
Stefano and EJ are with Lexie at the hospital. Lexie gets a call from Abe. She hangs up and announces Baker's demise.
"Drat the bad luck," says Stefano.
Lexie says the authorities think the killer might be from Salem.
Nicole calls the post office claiming she's Sami and requests a hold on the certified letter. The guy on the other end tells her it left already.
Stefano assumes Abe is blaming the DiMeras for Baker's killing and blows his stack. Lexie says Abe just wanted Baker's employment record.
Stefano asks, "Abe is no longer with the police. Why would he be investigating Baker's death?"
"As Mayor," says Lexie, "The police report to Abe and he's a micromanager."
Arianna arrives at the Kiriakis mansion. She has a bathing suit, which Brady thinks is completely unnecessary, "Believe me, Henderson knows he's supposed to leave us alone and he's the only other person here. We are free to be as indiscreet as we want."
Arianna nestles in, "I want."
Phillip talks about having a job interview in Chicago and says they might have to move there. He says he thinks he's asking Stephanie to give up a lot. Stephanie just wants to be with him. NOW. Down they go.
We dance around the fact that Nathan saw "it." After several minutes of confusion, we discover "it" was a wrong answer on the practice test. Nathan heads for her computer to show her, but nervous Melanie has a conniption and stops him. She turns and starts to blast out the back door. As she does so, she practically bowls over a delivery man with a certified letter for Mia. Melanie signs and leaves the letter on the table.
Mia arrives at Sami's place. She gets a call from Nicole who suggests stopping by. Mia declines. She hangs up and zones. Sami wants to know if everything is OK. The last time everything was OK with Mia was right before the doctor smacked her rear end on the day she was born.
As is the custom with all parents in Salem, Nicole tries to dump her kid, but Mary tells Nicole she has an appointment and can't haul Sydney around. Nicole is stuck with her and drags her along on her little adventure.
Lexie tells EJ something is going on with Stefano, "His diabetes is out of control."
"Perhaps we'd better get a real doctor to see him," says EJ.
Out in the hallway, Stefano is on the phone having a meltdown, "I gave you a mission and you failed! Now a man who should be in jail in the Caribbean is strolling around Salem asking questions. If you continue to mess up, Baker will not be the only one who pays with his life!"
Rafe walks in to Hines' office. Hines is packing up his things and Rafe says it looks like he's taking off somewhere. "I'm taking a hiatus," says Hines.
"I usually take a suitcase," says Rafe. He asks about Baker. Hines fakes ignorance. Rafe doesn't have to fake it. He wants to know why Hines' card was in Baker's pocket.
Will and Mia leave, giving Sami a brooding opportunity. Nicole arrives and interrupts her despair. If that's possible.
Arianna attacks Brady as Melanie rushes in and apologizes for walking in on the show, "But it's an emergency. Brady, before I say this remember you owe me for helping with Nathan."
"What is it," asks Brady.
Melanie says, "There's this video... The... sex kind."
Arianna asks, "Of you and Phillip?"Melanie explains, "Stephanie and Phillip were on a 'break' but I have to warn Phillip. It's on the Internet now and we have to get it off before Stephanie sees it and kills me."
Stephanie and Phillip are at the hospital. Phillip is off to Chi-town, but promises to hurry home.
Lexie looks at Stefano's chart and thinks it's a miracle he's doing so well. She wonders if something else is going on with him, "I'll be a lot more helpful if his problem has nothing to do with medicine." She asks EJ if he has any idea.
Sami is reluctant to let Nicole in. Nicole says, "I think Sydney needs a diaper change." That does it. The deadly diaper excuse works every time. Sami lets her in and Nicole immediately zones in on the pile of mail sitting on the coffee table. She makes some excuse to ask about Sami's mail delivery but Sami tells her today's mail hasn't come yet. Nicole asks if Sami found out what Baker wanted.
"No," says Sami, "and I never will. Dr. Baker was murdered." Nicole gasps. "Somebody tried to frame Rafe for it," says Sami.
Nicole asks, "And Rafe had nothing to do with it, right?"
Rafe wonders why Hines is leaving town in such a hurry. He asks about Hines' connection with the DiMeras. Hines sidesteps that and says Baker was his client. Rafe wants to know all about it. Hines asks, "Does attorney-client confidentiality mean anything to you?"
"I don't know," says Rafe. He draws a pistol, "Does a cold 45 to the head mean anything to you?"Arianna wonders if it would be better if Stephanie found out about the hot video.
Melanie freaks, "It's not about Stephanie. It's about my naked body being on the Internet for every old perv I've given a sponge bath to to see, not to mention Nathan. If he sees it he's going to hate me forever and..."
Brady jumps in, "MELANIE... TAKE A BREATH!"
Out in the audience, Ethel turns to Sadie, "As for myself, I'd rather she stop breathing."
Melanie tells them about her night of unbridled debauchery with Phillip and says she's tried to investigate the hotel manager but hasn't had much luck, "I have a nursing exam in ten minutes. I'm freaking out and..." Brady interrupts and promises to take care of it. Melanie bustles out.
Maxine tells Stephanie she has excellent taste in diamonds and fiancées. A couple of nosy candy-stripers watch in the background. One of them looks at Stephanie's ring, "Is it just me, or has it tarnished since last time."
"It's definitely you," says Maxine. Nathan walks up with hospital business and Stephanie tells him she may be telecommuting from Chicago. The young busybodies cluck and stare in the background. They start to walk off.
Stephanie shouts at them, "Is there something in my teeth? What is it?"
"You look fine to me," says Nathan.
Mia announces she may be cutting back on her hours at the Java Café, so she can join the cheerleading squad at school. She asks Will if he thinks that's OK. "What," asks Will, "You mean you'd work one hour a week instead of two?" Mia says she might not cut back, because the money would come in handy. Will asks if her mom can help.
"I'm not talking about her," snorts Mia, "Not with you or anyone."
Kinzie shows up at the Java Café. She tells Chad she's been kicked off the cheerleading squad for a DUI. She also tells him Mia was one of the candidates to replace her and she hates the way she's going after Will.
Sami insists Rafe didn't kill Baker, "He just was the one who found Baker's finger-twitching body." Nicole thinks Rafe has had a run of bad luck lately.
Rafe points his gun and tells Hines to start talking. Hines doesn't think Rafe would kill him because then he wouldn't find out what he needs to know. Rafe cocks the gun, "So you do know something. What's it gonna take to get it out of you?"
Will says he's going out with Mia and he doesn't know basic stuff about her. Mia insists they aren't official. "This is getting to be like Rafe and my mom," says Will.
Mia blows up at the comparison, "What, do you expect the writers to come up with a fresh storyline for everyone?"
Will tells her about his mom's diary that Stefano stole, "It kind of ruined her life... and others, too."
Chad tells Kinzie about Mia's diary, "Maybe it says something about how she feels about me. When I go to her with those words in black and white maybe she won't be able to hide it any more."
Lexie continues to wonder what's up with Stefano.
Nicole decides she needs caffeine. Sami Hubbard's cupboard is bare so she decides to take Sydney and go get some coffee. Sami rolls Sydney out and Nicole rummages through Sami's mail.
Rafe continues to threaten Hines. Hines folds, "I'll tell you what you want to know."
Melanie arrives at the hospital all in a dither. Nathan wishes her good luck.
Grabowski shows Arianna and Brady into Phillip and Melanie's former den of sin. They thank him for letting them have their "special" room. Grabowski says he's only too happy to oblige. Suddenly, Brady slams the door, "We're gonna enjoy shutting you down."
Mia and Kinzie spew venom at each other. Kinzie drops her purse on purpose and asks for help. Mia stoops to pick it up as Kinzie grabs the keys from her purse. Chad brushes past on his way out and intercepts the keys.
Hines tells Rafe Baker hired him for estate planning. He also tells Rafe about the secret letter, which Rafe guesses he mailed to Sami. Hines suggests he asks Sami about that.
Nicole sits in Sami's place and hears a knock at the door. She turns to look and there is another knock. If there is no bell to ring, the postman always knocks twice. Nicole goes to the door and signs for the certified letter. As the postman leaves, Nicole clutches the letter and heaves a sigh of relief.
Brady, Arianna and Grabowski all watch the video of the hot time Phillip and Melanie had. "Just to make sure that's what I want," says Brady, "I think we should watch it again."
"Oh come on," says Arianna, "We've watched it a dozen times already. I think that's enough."
Grabowski says he just can't imagine how this happened, "Are you a cop?"
"Worse," says Brady. He leans in and whispers in Grabowski's ear, "I'm one of those Kiriakis people."
The nosy nursettes stare into their computer as Nathan and Stephanie walk up. Nathan asks, "What, nobody invited us to the party." The nursettes exchange glances.
EJ announces Stefano can go home. Stefano tells him he won't let a little nuisance like diabetes do him in. He says he wants to hand the business over to EJ someday but he's finding it more difficult to do than he thought it would be. EJ understands. Stefano says he just wants to handle a few loose ends and then will hand it over. Hugs.
Sami pushes Sydney through the park. She tells her she will love autumn and picks her up, "It's so nice to have a baby to hold again. And the good news is I don't have to look for a babysitter for you. I can just dump you back off on Nicole."
Mia and Will sit at the Java Café. Will asks about them being "official," He says he thought they were, and wonders if there is some way to seal the deal. She kisses him and apparently that's it. He gives her a paycheck he picked up from Evan. Mia stuffs it in her purse and notices her keys are missing, "What did I do with them now?"
Chad stands in Maggie's kitchen, "If I were Mia's diary where would I be?" As he searches, he finds the certified letter, picks it up and gives his doofus teen stare.
Nicole opens Baker's letter and reads, "Thank God I got here in time." Another knock at the door interrupts and Nicole stuffs the letter in her purse. Rafe walks in. The total IQ in the room drops significantly.
"After last night," says groggy Phillip, "who needs sleep?"

Oh no! They are starting to talk about Mia´s mum and Corday promissed we will discover Arianna has a connection with someone in Salem. Could be Arianna be Mia´s mum?
"Here... brain food." Obviously Melanie hasn't had any of that in a while.
It’s safe to say that Melanie has never had any of that kind of food. Apparently, she’s subsists on Crappyos.
Will says Lucas already got him that stuff and thinks Sami should be saving money until she gets a job. The word job sends Sami into state of shock, but she recovers.
The fathers of her children both have well paying jobs – Lucas works for mommy dearest, and EJ plots with daddy dearest. I’m thinking that Sami should be scoring two fairly large support checks every month. Since Sami can afford to purchase an expensive last minute ticket to fly to the Dominican Republic, it appears she don’t need no stinkin’ job.
Stefano asks, "Abe is no longer with the police. Why would he be investigating Baker's death?"
"As Mayor," says Lexie, "The police report to Abe and he's a micromanager."
Either that or the writers felt compelled to finally give Abe something to do.
“It's on the Internet now and we have to get it off before Stephanie sees it and kills me."
For Stephanie to see the video, that would mean she’s surfing the Internet for porn sites. We’re talking Stephanie. How likely is that? Since Sami is no longer on speed dial for a bootie call, I think it’s more likely that Rafe would be checking out the video.
She wonders if something else is going on with him, "I'll be a lot more helpful if his problem has nothing to do with medicine." She asks EJ if he has any idea.
I can’t believe that Lexie is even asking that question. We’re talking Stefano. Of course, there are lots of things going on with him. Geez!
“Dr. Baker was murdered." Nicole gasps. "Somebody tried to frame Rafe for it," says Sami.
Why is Sami talking to Nicole about this? Rafe and Sami snuck out of Dr. Baker’s room so they wouldn’t have to talk to the authorities. Rafe should be dealing with his FBI buddies, and Sami should be keeping her mouth shut. If Sami talks to anyone, it should be her father.
Hines asks, "Does attorney-client confidentiality mean anything to you?"
Obviously, it doesn’t mean a whole lot to Hines either. He had no problem giving Stefano far too many details, and he certainly didn’t need to tell Rafe that Baker was a client. Just because Dr. Baker had Hine’s business card doesn’t necessarily make him a client. I’m always weeding through business cards, and I would bet doctors collect more than I do.
Rafe walks in. The total IQ in the room drops significantly.
You bet. He just threatened Hine’s with a gun. How incredibly stupid was that? Since Stefano has already arranged for his one-way ticket out of Salem, Hine’s should be contacting Stefano about the Rafester. If not, why didn’t he call the cops?
I hate to say it but only the teen scene makes even a modicum of sense. Everything else belongs on the Sci-Fi channel.
Arianna is…at the pub but announces it's her day off.
When is she ever working any more?
"I'm taking a hiatus," says Hines. "I usually take a suitcase," says Rafe.
I’d like to take a heavy dose of whatever is in John’s Bag O’ Pills right now. This show is giving me a headache & upset stomach.
Stephanie tells him she may be telecommuting from Chicago.
Sorry babe. I once worked as an admin assistant to a hospital administrator. It’s not the type of job you can “telecommute” for. Of course, on DAYS all you seem to do is roam the hospital corridors, so maybe you CAN roam via webcam.
And continuing the “who the heck works around this place except Maxine” theme there was this gem:
"What," asks Will, "You mean you'd work one hour a week instead of two?"
Will tells her about his mom's diary that Stefano stole, "It kind of ruined her life... and others, too."
Oooooo, the foreshadowing. Makes your blood curdle doesn’t it?
Another bevy of great pictures and captions and then there was this:
If there is no bell to ring, the postman always knocks twice.
Prevuze, the best classic film reference on the Internet®
Since this is Salem Hospital I assume the candy stripers are looking at the porn site on one of the hospital computers. No blocked sites, no nuthin'.
And where are the continuity police? Nicole used to freak if Sami was in the same zip code as Sydney and now she's letting her take her out for a latte?
Stefano says he wants to hand the business over to EJ someday but he's finding it more difficult to do than he thought it would be. He just wants to handle a few loose ends and then will hand it over. Isn't this is what Queen Elizabeth told Prince Charles about forty years ago?
Loved the Colt 45 placement, Abe the micromanaging mayor and "I usually take a suitcase," says Rafe GROANER! HAHAHAHA
It's gloomy outside but I'm laughing thanks to Prevuze. Excellent job.
My total IQ just dropped for even being interested in this snooze fest. Thank you Prevuze for once again saving me from another rather dull episode.
